I often while waiting for the right turn green arrow on the major road in Hua Hin play this game with my wife. Guessing how many red light runners we will have this time while waiting to turn right. Always multiple red light runners, always flash my lights at the oncoming vehicles (that are required to stop at the red light) before I make my right-hand turn. Thais just love running red lights, absolute brain-dead morons.

Immigration - totally useless

Interesting comments both positive and negative re TM47 online 90 day reporting Well without being too forward, any comments that indicate the Online 90 days reporting system is great and works all the time for me, those individuals can consider themselves very lucky. I can speak with some authority as a long time user of all the Online 90-Day Reporting solutions and as an IT technology specialist of some 40 years in the business. We often say in the IT technology field "you get what you pay for" and even though the current Web based TM47 solution is far improved over the older versions, it is still wanting in basic design, integration and support, features and functions. If you follow closely the history of developments, more recent announcements were a revamp of the Online Web based solution which was down for many days due to the upgrade and the latest announcement about integration work currently being undertaking between systems. To date, none of these Immigration systems, to my knowledge, communicate real-time data with each other, not an easy task as some are legacy systems and others are current technology systems, all potentially in different software languages. I found the development company for this current Online solution digging through the backend of the code. As a person that develops these types of solutions over many years, I know all the pitfalls of what users encounter and how to build robust software around these issues to mitigate user mishaps and intelligent feedback real-time within the in-form notification and validation software. I emailed the development company on what I considered the key shortfalls were of their current solution. They were nice enough to say thank-you Excluding the basic form with autofill, there is no real-time integration between the various databases that hold all the foreigner details. So without rambling on further, the frustration users experience will never be solved whether self-induced or system induced, until the end users' have real input into the problems at hand, we call this design phase "user requirements definition or input" it is the first phase of the software development cycles. I am sure there are contributors on this forum much more skilled or knowledgeable than myself that understand the limitations on the current TM47 Online 90 days reporting solution. So while I completely understand individual's frustration, nothing significant will really every change until the strategy changes, this could be management, financial, technical, knowledge, experience, resources or derived outcome requirements limitations. So as we say "grin and bear it", and live in hope! -

Destination Thailand Visa Sparks Interest, Faces Future Hurdles
HuaHinNew replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Here is a little hidden gem in the article. Re Meanwhile, the government is working to merge immigration databases, a process expected to take most of next year This is one on the major reasons your online 90-day reports get so many rejections. These disparate Immigration databases have never been interoperative with each other. -
Thailand explores salary reforms amid rising civil service costs
HuaHinNew replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Re including making salaries competitive with the private sector, aligning compensation packages with those of private companies, or maintaining the current salary system. Really, if they go that route, they better all be performance based pay. Um, can't see the government workforce here being held to that standard of deliverables. -

Embassies' varied interpretations on Destination Thailand Visa
HuaHinNew replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Nothing new to see here! Thailand has the ability to consistently screw up everything they try to implement. Unfortunately, it's in their DNA, they can't help themselves. Nothing will every change! It reflects on the lack of their inability to think through any proposed initiatives of; why?, strategy, decision-making, requirements, target audience, input, scope, user-impact, evaluation, implementation, financing, prerequisites, time-line, scope-creep, skill-sets, project funding, consistent messaging, alignment, transparency, structures, personal, regulations, respondents, delivery, end-users, investment, advertising, impact, roadblocks, benefits, upside, downside, Gazetting, Government or Private Industry, ROI, feedback, perception, governance, reevaluation, adjustments and desired outcomes -
Foreign cyclist severely injured after being hit by Phuket Airport taxi
HuaHinNew replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The problem is many cyclist enthusiasts, especially those from Europe, are possibly of the opinion that the road system, rules and drivers in Thailand are of the same standards as back in their own home countries. So If you're an active cyclist in Thailand, IMHO do what I did, dump your bike and find an alternative form of exercise. You will certainly avoid the likelihood of being rundown by one of the crazy wacko drivers here in Thailand. -
Unfortunately, you proposed the wrong question. Your question should be, do you want 4 more years of Bidenomics/Harrisnomics or 4 more years of Trumpnomics.

Pattaya City achieves 99.41 score in anti-corruption assessment
HuaHinNew replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Perception is everything in Thailand, substance is often lacking. Can we all see publically the ethics and transparency by viewing the Pattaya 99.41 score details in the Integrity and Transparency Assessment (ITA) National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) corruption assessment report. You know what Churchill said about statistics, "The only statistics you can trust are those you falsified yourself". -
Well there will be even less funds to spend on restaurants with the Thai RD scoping up Farang's taxation from repatriated funds to Thailand and all their associated income earnings from all over the globe. Maybe the recent gold bars sized and confiscated will help stimulate the government's coffers to bailout poor performing restaurants.

Thailand disburses 3.48 trillion baht budget to boost economy
HuaHinNew replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
An injection of 3.48 trillion baht. Wonder how much of this is off-budget borrowed funds, with interest owing. Thai government are not running a surplus, last good year was 2006. Also, transparency and accountability for a3.48 trillion Baht injection should be an interesting case study in 2025 / 2026. -

For those of you who have lived here for years?
HuaHinNew replied to Hummin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
IMHO, the biggest challenge is, you have to conditionally accept the Thai culture and their ways in every aspect of life here. From the Tuk Tuk driver to the business, financial and government institutions. Be prepared for the mountains of useless bureaucratic paperwork you will experience. Immigration engagements will test your patience and fortitude, take he hit and engage a VISA agent. Thai language for the majority of us; learning conversational Thai can be very difficult, due to the nature of it being toned based, and the Thai written script, I won't go there! But, learn the Thai language basics of greetings, money, directions, and food, and you will get by, you will pick up other common Thai words in your daily journeys. It is expected all Farangs are more financially viable than Thais, so be financially diligent. Romantic relationships, take your time and don't overcommit too early, understand once you're in a full relationship with a Thai woman, you are supporting the woman’s Thai family. Personal relationships, be aware of the people you develop relationships with, don't lend money to people. Transport, taxis are relative cheap here, ensure you use metered taxis, Grab works well here also, refrain from any engagement on motorbikes, absolute putting your warfare and life at risk. Driving, if you are in a position to drive, you are going to encounter a whole new experience, it's like Mad Max III on the roads here, just drive with the defensive attitude that everyone else is out there is trying to kill you, and you will survive, Big alert, Zebra crossings and speed limits are not norms for Thai drivers, you are going to shake your head on what you will see, don't get into road rage incident's, guns and knives are quite often used in road rage incidents here. Prepare for the often random police road checks here, any confrontation of an alleged infringement can be addressed with a small donation. Food, depending on your taste buds, great variety of foods available, street vendors, choose carefully. Accommodation, establish yourself initially in a rental property to gage your social and travel needs, select a property with the environment that matches your lifestyle. Medical, once in your 70+ age group, cost of medical services here can be finally overwhelming, this can be an individual's decision on their preferred options, usually based on personal health status. Weather, three seasons; dry and hot, hot and hotter and wet and hot, so you can leave all your woollies behind. Politics and corruption, this is a self learning experience; but you will get the generally run-of-the-mill on what goes down here on a daily basis, never be surprised. Forums, like this one, joining a number of foreign or expat online forums will keep you up to date on daily issues and stories. Taxation, ok the elephant in the room, the TRD (Thailand Revenue Department) under direction from the new PM, (go find me more tax revenue - the county is broke - get it off those pesky Farangs 555) official updates to the tax laws are still being finalized, but expect as a foreigner be prepared to be paying tax on your certain funds remitted into Thailand and tax on any other income earnings in your native or other countries not remitted into Thailand (It's a Tax fest). Get out and travel and enjoy all that Thailand has to offer you. Finally, If you cannot embrace the above, you will suffer a slow and painfully agonizing Thailand lifestyle. PS. Possibly missed a few categories, but the general points on foreigners moving and living in Thailand I think I covered. -
Well, if you have not worked it out yet, after years of 90-Day reporting system's experiences. It has been, is currently and will always be a total Cluster F. These people responsible for these systems are totally clueless and have no idea of what they are doing. I could explain technically why you all experience these 90-day systems' reporting issues, but of little value, as nothing will change. So you just have to live with the pain of the incompetence and inconvenience of living in the LOS as a foreigner. No more needs to be said!

My recent online 90-day report was rejected 5 times, even though I know all the data was correct, been doing it online successfully for 2023/2024. Gave up and went to see my Visa agent, they informed me they have over 80 clients that have been doing it online successfully, but now failing with "rejected", now the agent is processing them manually for them at the local IMM office. So in summary, from all the information on this forum and my personal experience, the 90-day online reporting system has some serious software design issues. As it appears the TM30, TM47 and Visa system are not synced to the 90-day online reporting system, I suspect all these rejections are related to this shortfall. Yes, and I know many users are still successfully completing their 90-day online reporting.

Well, to educate you a little and operate on facts as distinct from your feelings. It started when Americans voted overwhelming and rejected the decades of Washington DC political swamp corruption and collusion of both Democrats and Republicans. If you recall, he ran on draining the swamp and putting Americans first again. You see, government is by the people, of the people and for the people, not for politicians to squander people's taxation money with their pet projects and foreign interests while feathering their own pockets. Donald Trump, no matter what you think of him personally, is a businessman, not a politician. The swamp, deep state bureaucrats, aided by Big Tech and Big Media, decided Trump was a threat to their kleptocracy as soon as he came down the escalator of Trump Tower. So IMHO the origins of what you call "dystopian republic of fools" is a byproduct of the above.
