RE: However, the tourist, who is pursuing legal action against his assailant, was not seriously injured, The Pattaya News noted. Well, maybe he could have been, if those thugs decided to thump and kick the crap out of him like they did to his mate. Sue the ass off all of them and the bar owner to boot.

Give me a break, Sky News re: This rhetoric indicates a potentially unprecedented use of presidential power to target political opponents, which could deepen the political divide in the country. OMG, what have they been doing to President Trump since 2016, weaponizing the justice system in an attempt to jail their political opponent. The divide started when the Democrats, their cohorts in Big Tech and Big Media plus the Deep State tried to unseat a duly elected President of the United States. The people spoke in 2016 but the Washington elites and the Deep State could not accept that they were not running the country anymore, but the people of America were, via Trump's appointment. The only way these individuals can we stopped is to give them a taste of their own medicine. Start with the 51 intel agents that assured us the Hunter Biden Laptop was Russian based disinformation, which impacted the outcome of the 2020 election results. A whopping 79 percent of Americans suggest President Donald Trump likely would have won reelection if voters had known the truth about Hunter Bidenʼs laptop—that it was real and not “Russian disinformation,” as intelligence officials aligned with Joe Biden falsely led the public to believe, a new national poll reveals. You might be an anti Trumper, but what goes around comes around.

Climate Change, Carbon Tax. Please give me Money! CO2, 0.04% of the atmospheric gases. It's a scam, every 5 or 10 years we get these earth ending climate predications from the so-called scientific climate experts. None to date have come to fruition, man can not control global weather outcomes. How about a plastic tax here in Thailand, that I can see with my eyes would and fully support. Thailand, one of the top 10 countries for plastic pollution. Clean up Thailand's environment.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
HuaHinNew replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
LOS - Land of Stupidity I have always been of the opinion that there is a lot of dead brain matter in Thailand. The process of implementing new legislation by a government typically involves the following steps: Determining What the New Law Should Do: The first step is to identify the purpose and objectives of the new law Demonstrating Necessity and Appropriateness: It’s important to justify why the new law is necessary and how it fits within the existing legal framework Building Consensus: This involves gathering support for the new law among stakeholders, including lawmakers, interest groups, and the public Ensuring Soundness and Viability: The final version of the new law and the mechanisms for its implementation must be practical and capable of achieving the intended outcomes Following the Rulemaking Process: In many jurisdictions, the process of implementing new legislation is governed by certain laws and procedures These procedures include the Administrative Procedure Act (APA), Parliamentary Review Act, Paperwork Reduction Act, Regulatory Flexibility Act3, and others -

I have used WISE for years here, transfers from my Aussie NAB account to my Bangkok Bank here in Thailand, always successfully. But, there is always a but....never every had I received the transfer of funds in hours, minutes or seconds. At best, if I did a WISE transaction in the evening in Thailand, and it was before NAB opened for business there next morning in Aus, I received the funds in my Bangkok Bank my next day. But on average it took 2 to 3 days to arrive from Aus to Thailand, on weekends it of course took longer. I may be a skeptic, but while these financial institutions organizations are holding your collective funds, it gives them the opportunity to invest in the short term money markets. I know for entrain that with for the Reserve Bank of Australia, it has specific requirements for banks to hold cash equity overnight, banks borrow and lend the balances they hold in their Reserve Bank Exchange Settlement Accounts (ESAs) in the cash market. Sorry for the detailed information, but it supports my point. The Australian Reserve Bank has specific requirements for banks to hold cash equity overnight. This is part of the cash market, which is the market for unsecured, overnight loans between banks. Banks borrow and lend the balances they hold in their Reserve Bank Exchange Settlement Accounts (ESAs) in the cash market. These transactions are undertaken between banks on an unsecured basis for a term of one business day1. ESAs, which must be in credit at all times, are used to settle obligations arising from interbank payments within the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS), Australia’s high-value payments system1. Each business day, banks that hold more exchange settlement (ES) balances than they need (i.e., to settle their net payment obligations) can lend the surplus in the cash market to banks with a shortfall1. The (annualized) weighted-average interest rate on these unsecured interbank loans is the overnight ‘cash rate’, which is the Reserve Bank’s operational target for the implementation of monetary policy. The Reserve Bank does not directly participate in the cash market, but it is able to control the aggregate amount of ES balances that are available for market participants to borrow and lend. It does this by supplying enough ES balances through its open market operations, such that the demand for ES balances is satisfied at, or close to, the cash rate target. In recent years, banks that make payments outside business hours are no longer required to contract open repos with the Reserve Bank. Financial institutions were still free to lend any ES balances in excess of their open repo position (surplus ES balances) in interbank markets, and earn a higher interest rate than if they had left the funds in their ES account.

Mobile banking users not affected yet by new regulation : NBTC
HuaHinNew replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
OMG, do these idiots running government here ever think through clearly about policy changes before they implement them. As stated above, by many.... many scenarios where the owner of the bank account performing the mobile transaction is not the current registered owner of the SIM card. e.g. family plan, business ownership, replacement SIM card in travelling countries....and so on Seems, if it's in their Thai DNA intellect... no matter if it's BOT, IMM, RD and now NBTC..... Understand their strategy, but in life you can't legislate everything to protect everyone. With technology comes advantages and disadvantages.......a little education and common sense go a long way to mitigating spam and scams. -

Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
HuaHinNew replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So the VAT charged on imported goods is to protect local items available and sold in Thailand. Based on their announcement statement, if the product is not manufactured or available here in Thailand, there should be no VAT incurred on those imported goods. Tongue in cheek statement! 5555 -
Online TM47 90 day report (Rejected)
HuaHinNew replied to banglay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So here we go.....you all are beneficiaries of this amazing TM47 90-day online reporting software upgrade 555. 4 days of bumbling around with inferior software and inexperienced IT architects, programmers and developers. The answer to all your online 90-day reporting issues, "are you feeling lucky" "You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear" Jan 23, 2024 Feb 23 to Feb 26 2024 -
Re: The next day I received a nasty surprise via email with the following content: "Your application for "STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS" has been rejected. Incorrect entry date upon entry into the kingdom/ Incorrect visa expiration date There may be a possible reason for this, I believe that the IMM database and 90-day online reporting database were never connected to share information real-time. You recall months back, we had this significant 4 to 5 day 90-day online reporting outage for significant maintenance.?????? Just an assumption, that if your details were correct, it may be possible that they finally have this IMM database to 90-day online database connection established. But, like most Thailand software, it's not working as conceived and pulling records from the wrong user index database records for your details. BTW I have VPN and find issues when it is activated with the 90-day online reporting system. PS. This could be resolved quick and simple if IMM had the smarts and initiatives to resolve it. On the error, ask if the user requires more details, if yes, generate a msg with a security code to the user with a request to enter the security code sent to your mobile. Once the security code is confirmed, a link opens where you can click to show you what information is required in your form field in error. (no guarantee it will be the correct information) If that does not resolve the issue, make an REAL English-speaking support hot line desk available for 90-day online issues.

90 day report online question
HuaHinNew replied to poobear's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
After you insert your Passport number and Nationality, select the blue box with the view symbol, the form will autopopulate all your details. This information autopopulated in your form application is what Immigration has for you currently for 90-day reporting details. If it gets approved with incorrect information but gives you the 90-day reporting extension date, just go with it. If you ever get queried, just give the same response Immigration officers do, "90-day online software broken not work" My understanding and I don't know much but IMHO, just guessing, the IMM and 90-day reporting databases are not real-time synchronized, in fact they may not even have any physical or logical connection between them. Only when IMM officers are forced to check your 90-day report details because of an online 90-days reporting failure do they look at the IMM database records and insert the updated 90-day details manually into your 90-day profile to match both sets of records. As you can see, if my best guess is correct, it's an ongoing God damn nightmare every time there is a IMM database change to your profile details. Cheers -
Looking for similar advice in Hau Hin Anyone had experiences with root canal treatment with any of the detail clinics or hospitals here in Hua Hin. All comments really appreciated as I am about to enter into it next week at one of the clinics.

They problem you have many IOs at IMM offices that are just cowboy and cowgirls. Dubious intellect levels, and they just love to exert what little authority they have over you If the head of IMM wants to clean up the IMM and raise the profile of the IMM organization, he would mandate all IOs in all Provinces must follow and implement the IMM policies exactly as gazetted. No foreigner has any issues with providing the required paperwork and doing all the legwork collection information as required by the IMM Website. But the BS encountered by many foreigners at IMM processing just demonstrates that many officers are out of control. .

Road accident scenario, what would happen?
HuaHinNew replied to NorthernRyland's topic in General Topics
IMHO of 40 years visiting, working and now retired here in Thailand Most, and I do mean most, Thai drivers of any vehicles here are actually brain-dead. No common sense of defensive driving skills, no or little knowledge or adherence of the road rules, no situational awareness, no consideration for other road users, always speeding, rarely obeying speed limit restriction signs, always tailgating and pushing vehicles in front of them to go faster, never stopping at Zebra crossings and always speeding in a hurry to create an accident to kill and or mane others. And in particular motorbike antics, well not enough space here to cover their stupidity. Just look at the annual road stats here, they confirm my observations and experiences. You can't put brains in statues. PS. Add to that the almost zero police enforcement of violators and lack of harsh government penalties to curb the wild west roadway craziness of Thai drivers. -
IMHO I have said this many times and from what I see here nothing has changed. The Immigration Database is not real-time connected to the 90-day online reporting Database. So, 90-day reports are often rejected on not what you have inserted in your 90-day online form if it's all ciorrect. The Imm officer is looking at your form details and referencing it against your Imm Visa details and possible TM30 details

Selective minimum wage increases in 10 provinces
HuaHinNew replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Only in Thailand could such a ridiculous formula could be introduced. Thailand’s Wage Committee decided today to increase minimum wages to 400 baht for employees working in 4-star hotels which have at least 50 employees, located in specific areas in 10 provinces, effective from April 13th. 4S + 50E + 10P = 400 Baht C'mom man! -
Re: Thailand’s government is beginning to crack down on the activities of long-stay foreigners in the kingdom. It comes with the country’s economy in a slow state of decline. For instance, government receipts in the most recent period were down 11% on last year. Now, the real reason behind the PM and RD enforcement of tax laws for 2024 onwards. The Government is scrambling for more money. Thailand making sure it can milk every possible Baht out of all long-stay foreigners. For the PM and RD, the gift that just keeps on giving!

The fix is easy, even a monkey could work it out. To cope with the increasing traffic, Airports of Thailand (AOT) had increased the number of immigration booths from 92 to 119 and more immigration officers were on duty from Wednesday on. This would allow them to handle about 6,500 arrivals per hour in a 45-second process without compromising security. Solution: Add more immigration booths, seems 119 is not enough to handle current influx peaks.

Look, a couple of real knuckleheads, possibly heading for monkey town and then deportation. RE: Two foreigners on motorbikes did not follow the traffic laws, not riding close to the left side of the road and riding at high speed in a community area, But, give me a break, don't thousands of Thais do this every day in Thailand. IMHO, the cops thought a few Baht from these lawbreaking Farangs to supplement their daily intake. Little did they know they were going to encounter two crazy NZ morons off their frigging heads.

thai nationals and tax returns

Thailand runs significantly on the cash system, especially at the lower socioeconomic levels.
