Some shops are cashless. I don't know how many in Thailand though. As I like brewed coffee, they don't always use the same bean variety, so in that sense, you don't get consistency. In general I would say they use light or medium roast, instead of dark roast for their brewed coffee.

Even though I'm not a Starbucks fan I think most people trashing it are expressing these things: Resentment about their prices Anti big corporations Anti Americanism (such as Euro snobs resenting that Americans have done better in a space they think they should rightly own centered around espresso based drinks) Right wingers thinking they are too woke Left wingers upset that they fight unions How stupid many of their customers are with all the Insta BS Trend towards cashless only shops Etc. The truth is their drinks though overpriced are decent enough and their coffee is pretty good. Not the best but certainly not the worst either.

I make my own coffee at home but when traveling I find Starbucks reliable for good tasting strong black coffee. Of course I'm regarded as a weirdo for ordering just coffee there and even more so because I refuse to order in Italian.

I don’t think you get it. The whole point was for the streaming. He's made big money doing that. I seriously doubt he would be doing such scenes privately. No money in that. I do get why people dislike this dude and the way he makes money. But objectively speaking just deport him and be done with it. It's not good for Thailand's brand to be seen as overly draconian. I will say something unpopular. Many western tourists have the false impression that Thailand is an anything goes place. It's understandable why they would think that. It actually is anything goes for some things but crazy conservative on others. I think misbehaving tourists should usually just be given a tongue wagging and deported.
