  1. Thank u Sheryl: What you say more or less corresponds with the advice given to me by doctors in Thailand.
  2. Many thanks to scuascuba3. I watched the video by Dr John Dougall (searched and found it on Google) and it is certainly thought-provoking.
  3. Sheryl: I think u being a bit harsh on me. I thought I was posting a link when posting the reference. It is clear reading the article that it contains an opinion from a letter to the Guardian and IS NOT the view of the paper. I agree the content is possibly dated. I have regular PSA testing as recommended by my doctors. All I am saying is that the article is interesting. I would further be interested to know if anyone agrees that they should think twice before having a PSA test and if so why.

  5. Wingnut : Thank you for sharing your experience. As others have confirmed and what I was told by a Thai tax specialist: No need to get a TIn or file a return if income is NOT assessable.
  6. I started this thread and I appreciate all the helpful replies. Especially from Pattaya57. In one reply he writes: "4) you will be given an official form saying you must come back at 90 days to show 800k still in bank. I only needed copy of passport bio page, valid to stay stamp page and last 3 months passbook pages with this form so pretty easy (you don't need to queue or get ticket, just go straight to desk 8 and show form, took one minute)' -Well I did my renewal on Friday 24 Jan picked up my passport today, Tuesday, and did my re-entry . The good news is that i was not asked to come back at 90 days nor given any official form. So have they discontinued this practice or what? Later if appropriate I will post my views re applying to BKK or Pattaya is better for retirement renewal etc
  7. i will soon need to apply to Pattaya immigration for yearly retirement renewal Previously renewals done at CW (Bangkok). Note I already have TM30 completed form with my Pattaya address. Some questions: 1 . Apart from completed TM 7, passport, bank letter and bank book, (800k) lease and passport copies, TM 30, 90 day report, any other document copies needed or forms to be filled in?? 2 Does the bank letter need to be dated the same day as i apply to immigration? 3. In Pattaya will I get my passport with new Visa renewal stamp back the same day I apply? 4. Will I need to report back at a later date re the 800k? 5 Anything else I should know re procedures at Pattaya immigration? Many thx in advance!
  8. I recently consulted a local tax specialist who says that income received in 2025 if not "assessable income" does not require a tax return,
  9. And waiting for the next attack from them: Maybe the hordes allowed to come into the UK and are given all sorts of benefits for nothing but really hate us will decide its time now especially at Xmas to do a cowardly mass murder again....
  10. The good thing about getting old is previously I could have sex here in Thailand 5 times a day. Now i am not young I have reduced it by 20%
  11. OP: I would suggest u can get an offshore company who are reputable (ie chartered accountants etc) to put your money in a FTSE investment or similar companies that are household name and professional.. You can more or less guarantee a 10% return+ and your original investment ought to increase overtime. They will also pay u a monthly amount that can be fixed. PM me if you want further input. U can also use Wise or Revolt etc for banking issues.
  12. OP: no worry...no problem...bet your wife doing the same!
  13. According to the latest Thaiger news briefing 9 September 2024 UK retirees coming to live (or living) in Thailand are NOT taxed and no doubt any new law will reflect UK retirees do not have to pay tax here. "Does Thailand tax expats? Thailand does not impose tax on your income earned in the UK if you live in Thailand. You remain liable for UK taxes as a British citizen. Since Thailand and the UK have a double taxation agreement, you will not pay tax in both places on the same income. If your income comes from sources within Thailand, that may attract local taxes." 14. zero time...my laundry shop does the ironing
  15. Many thanks your kind advice to relax. I will try to do that. And do please now close this thread as I now have the info I need. Incidentally next time there is yet another lengthy topic in Thai Visa Forum telling us especially from a non-qualified person that we will all soon need to pay Thai taxes as he voluntarily does you would also tell him to relax and no try to scare monger many of us on matters that may or may not impact us.
  16. Yes you are quite right...I have sent my knickers to be dry cleaned!
  17. Yes i know that...I am referring to the income received in Thailand whereby it reaches a level when it then becomes subject to Thai income tax.
  18. Yes I will assume for discussion purposes u are correct and the Elite Visa is not tax exempt. Now as with many others i currently have the 1 year retirement visa. In my case based on the 800k in the bank. i could equally have the retirement visa based on showing the 65k per month etc. My question is simply this and maybe I have not made myself clear: If (and no decision has been made yet will wait to see what develops) I changed to an Elite Visa there appears to be no minimum Thai income requirement which is different from the retirement visa. So, if I received the Elite Visa and my Thai income was shown by my Thai bank statement to be less than the annual amount where Thai income tax is due then the argument is I do not need to file a Thai tax return.... right or not?
  19. Excuse me I not understand whats me doing extensions got anything to do with my question? With retirement visa need to show 65k a monthly income (or annual equivalent)...If i have an Elite visa no minimum income required. So I could have an annual income below that required to pay tax here.
  20. Currently i hold a retirement visa (800k in bank) and am wondering if any benefit in changing to an Elite Gold. (detriment i know is the fee!) If I do get such a Visa then no obligation to file any tax return even if i stay here in Thailand all year round if my Thai income is below the minimum to file such a return? Is that correct?
  21. I filled in form again and resubmitted and now acknowledged.
  22. Its Saturday and i tried to submit my 90 day online but no response and no e mail confirmation. Do they turn this off on weekends ?
  23. Hello TantrikLvr, I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to tell me your view and experiences. Particularly the expression 'too good to be true' company and "suspiciously inexpensive" are apt and explaining your own personal dealing are very revealing. Its assisted me greatly about whether I want to pursue anything with this company. take care.\Thx again, 🙂
  24. A broker recently contacted me saying they offer a good deal for yearly medical insurance, I did some checking on internet= many complaints... .... Anyone here know or have experience of this company?
