The lorry driver reported that a group of over 10 motorcycles had surrounded his vehicle, shouting for him to stop just moments before the collision. At 01:20 on 7 March, Police Lieutenant Pipatchai Paiphim, an investigator at Thammasala Police Station, was alerted to the crash in the express lane of Borommaratchachonnani Road, inbound towards Bangkok. Emergency services, including emergency specialists from Siriraj Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, were dispatched to the scene. At the site, officers found a white Isuzu 18-wheel lorry parked in the leftmost lane. Beneath its rear section, the body of the deceased, identified as Witthawat 18 years old, was discovered. His injuries were severe, with a fractured skull and multiple broken limbs. Nearby, his Honda Giorno grey motorcycle was found wedged beneath the lorry. Rescue workers used hydraulic cutting equipment to extract both the body and the wreckage for further investigation. The 31-year-old lorry driver, Mr Sila, recounted the events leading up to the crash. He had been driving along Borommaratchachonnani Road and had just passed Phutthamonthon Sai 4. He stated that a group of at least 10 motorcycles suddenly approached, overtaking and surrounding his truck. The riders shouted at him to stop. He began gradually slowing down, but as he came to a halt, a motorcycle crashed into the back of his lorry, leaving the rider fatally injured. Shocked, he immediately contacted the police. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. The lorry driver has been taken for further questioning, as police work to establish the full sequence of events. The body of the deceased has been transported to Siriraj Hospital’s forensic unit for an autopsy, before being released to his family. The investigation remains ongoing. -- 2025-03-08

Picture courtesy of Khoasod. An incident unfolded in Bangkok as a Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police officer was found dead in his flat, just two weeks before his planned wedding. The officer, identified as Police Senior Sergeant Major Thanawin aged 39, was discovered in his accommodation at a police flat in Lat Yao, Chatuchak district. At approximately 13:00 on 7 March, Police Lieutenant Colonel Jakkrit Suwanwong, Deputy Inspector of Phaholyothin Police Station, received a report of a fatal shooting at the premises. Officers from the forensic investigation unit, medical personnel from the Police General Hospital, and rescue volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the police found the deceased lying unconscious on the floor of his second-floor apartment. A gunshot wound was visible on his left temple, with the bullet exiting through the right. A 9mm magazine-fed pistol was discovered next to his left hand. Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him through CPR but were unsuccessful. Investigations revealed that the officer had been suffering from stress and depression due to family issues over the past two months. In response, his superiors had reassigned him from field operations to administrative duties in an effort to alleviate his stress and support his recovery. Tragically, he was due to marry his fiancée on 23 March. Authorities are currently gathering statements from witnesses and the deceased’s relatives to determine the exact circumstances. The body has been sent for forensic examination before being handed over to the family for religious rites. Picture courtesy of Matichon. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has allocated a budget for 2025 to purchase an additional 18,607 fire extinguishers, as part of a continued effort to enhance safety across the city’s 50 districts. During a meeting on March 6 at the Rattanakosin Hall, Bangkok City Hall, Governor Chadchart Sittipunt chaired the third meeting of the year with BMA department heads. The meeting included a report on the distribution, inspection, and updating of fire extinguisher data across the city’s districts by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). In fiscal year 2023, 9,979 fire extinguishers were provided to district offices, which then distributed them across the city’s communities. The following year, 27,611 fire extinguishers were distributed, bringing the total to 37,590. These extinguishers were given to 632 crowded communities, 508 urban communities, and 61 suburban communities. For 2025, an additional 18,607 extinguishers will be provided, and for 2026, the plan includes another 17,987 units. For proper ongoing management, fire extinguishers under 12 years old and in good condition can be refilled immediately, while those over 12 years old will be tested for compliance with safety standards. If they pass, they can be refilled; if not, they will be destroyed and replaced. District offices are also required to update their fire extinguisher records in the Bangkok Risk Map system, ensuring data is complete and accessible for effective use. As of February 27, 2025, there were still 11,241 extinguishers yet to be recorded in the GIS system. Deputy Governor Tawida Kamolvetch has instructed district offices to complete the recording process to ensure the efficient deployment of fire safety equipment across the city. -- 2025-03-08

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A scout camp in Prachinburi province was thrown into chaos when an armed young man stormed the premises and attacked a volunteer after being asked to leave. The shocking incident left students, parents, and staff shaken as they participated in a campfire activity. Police from Kabin Buri Police Station reported that the incident occurred at approximately 21:00 on 6 March at a well-known school in Wang Dan subdistrict. The school was hosting a scout and girl guide camp, with parents in attendance to watch their children’s activities. The suspect, an 18-year-old man known as Mr Pond, entered the school grounds wielding a knife. A local volunteer from the Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Corps noticed the armed intruder and attempted to remove him from the premises. However, the suspect resisted, leading to a confrontation. According to Mr Anan, another volunteer, three volunteers were stationed at the school that evening to assist with traffic control. When they spotted the suspect carrying what appeared to be a machete, approximately 25cm in length, they became concerned for the safety of those present. “We all knew he was a psychiatric patient,” Mr Anan stated. “We tried to ask him politely to leave, but he became agitated and aggressive.” During the altercation, the suspect lunged at Mr Samai, a volunteer providing security for the event. While Mr Samai managed to dodge the first attempted stabbing, the suspect swung the blade again, striking his arm. Fortunately, the knife failed to cause serious injury. He immediately called the police. Following the incident a female teacher relayed that the headteacher had been informed of the situation but declined to comment, citing the school’s internal concerns. Mr Samai also was unable to comment, as he was at work on an industrial estate and declined to be interviewed, fearing that discussing the event could harm the school’s reputation. The suspect’s grandfather, Mr Thongkham confirmed that his grandson suffers from a psychiatric condition and becomes aggressive when challenged. “I still don’t know exactly what happened last night,” he admitted. “But I heard my grandson attacked a volunteer and was taken away by the police.” The suspect’s father, Mr Sompong also confirmed his son’s mental health issues. “I separated from my wife long ago and have been working in a factory. My son has been living with his grandparents,” he explained. “I wish I could get him proper treatment, but I simply don’t know where to turn.” Mr Sompong expressed regret over the incident and apologised to those affected. The suspect remains in police custody while authorities investigate the case further. -- 2025-03-08

Picture from responders. A six-wheeled lorry lost power while climbing Khun Tan Mountain, rolling backwards and colliding with a pickup truck that was unable to avoid the crash. The collision left one person dead and six others injured. Police from Hang Chat Police Station, Lampang Province, were alerted to the incident, which occurred on the outbound Lampang-Chiang Mai road near the Chao Pho Khun Tan Shrine in Wiang Tan subdistrict. Emergency services, including rescue teams from Hang Chat Hospital, Wiang Tan Municipality, Hang Chat Municipality, Pong Yang Khok Rescue Unit, and Lampang Rescue Association, were dispatched to the scene with cutting tools and lighting equipment. Upon arrival, authorities found a white Mitsubishi six-wheeled box truck severely damaged after crashing into a pickup truck. The lorry driver was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be freed using hydraulic cutting tools before being transported to Hang Chat Hospital. A male passenger in the lorry sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment. In the pickup truck, a female passenger in the front seat was found deceased, trapped in the wreckage. Rescue teams used specialised equipment to extract her body, which was then sent to Hang Chat Hospital for forensic examination. Four others in the pickup, one male driver and three female passengers, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations revealed that the lorry was en route to Lamphun to deliver goods when it lost power while ascending Khun Tan Mountain. As a result, the vehicle rolled backwards, colliding with the pickup following behind. The driver of the pickup was unable to avoid the crash, leading to the fatalities and injuries. You may notice my reports do not call them accidents, unless I miss it when reading the translation. Emergency responders have long stated; “The term ‘road accident’ exemplifies society’s tolerance of road danger. Too many still do not hold drivers accountable for their actions, implying instead it was a matter of chance. By using the word ‘accident’ – society is saying that there is nothing that can be done about these deaths and injuries, and they are an acceptable pay off for having motor vehicles. Planes and trains do not have ‘accidents’ – they crash.” Years ago in the UK it was called RTAs (Road traffic accident), but that was changed to RTC (Road traffic collision), Uk guidance for responders reporting is below. https://www.rc-rg.com/

This 5 second clip is all I am prepared to post, which shows CCTV of the father and son with the car approaching before the collision and a different cam after impact. You will have to pause the after impact part as it is only a second long. Authorities have not released the footage of the impact.. The pictures shows the damage to car and motorcycle. For reference the motorcycle and victims are next to the ambulance in the car picture My Movie 1.mp4
-
The CCTV made available only shows events after the collision, with authorities not releasing the footage of impact. The available footage, even after editing is totally unsuitable to be shown on the forum. The bodies are shown flying through the air, with the car still traveling at speed. One body is seen smashing into the wall, in an impact that is unlikely to be survivable.
