Picture from responders. A pickup truck driver who fled the scene after hitting a father and son in Suphan Buri later lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a bridge railing, and plunged into a canal, where he died at the scene. The incident occurred at 19:10 on March 2, when Pol. Lt. Adisak Semrod, an investigator from Song Phi Nong Police Station, was notified of a collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle with a sidecar. The crash took place near the clock tower in Bang Li Market, Song Phi Nong district, Suphan Buri province. The victims, a 35-year-old man named Sarawut and his four-year-old son, Papawin, sustained injuries. Sarawut suffered minor injuries, while his son had ear torn off and abrasions. Both were transported to Somdet Phra Sangharaja XVII Hospital for treatment. At the scene, police found a damaged motorcycle with a sidecar, registered in Suphan Buri, and a license plate believed to belong to the fleeing pickup truck, registered in Ang Thong. Witnesses reported that after the crash, the pickup driver immediately sped away, heading towards the Ban Li-Makham Lom Road. Eyewitnesses, including a municipal firefighter, reported seeing sparks flying from beneath the speeding pickup truck. The motorcycle’s exhaust pipe had become lodged under the vehicle. The firefighter, along with emergency responders from the Semor Gun Rescue Foundation, pursued the fleeing driver. About five kilometres from the initial crash, at a curve near Ban Don Krabuang Bridge in Bang Phlap subdistrict, the pickup driver lost control, crashed into the bridge railing, and plunged into the canal. The vehicle was completely wrecked, and the driver was found trapped inside. Rescue workers used floodlights and hydraulic cutting tools to extricate the driver, a process that took over an hour. The deceased was identified as 53-year-old Somphong, a resident of Wiset Chai Chan district in Ang Thong province. Somphong’s relatives arrived at the scene and were overcome with grief, with one family member fainting and requiring medical assistance. His body was later sent for an autopsy at Somdet Phra Sangharaja XVII Hospital. According to initial investigations, Somphong was a sporting goods vendor. Before the crash, he had driven from Kanchanaburi after picking up footballs for delivery to Ayutthaya. While driving through Bang Li Market, he collided with Sarawut and his son but fled the scene. His reckless escape attempt ended when he crashed at high speed and died in the wreckage. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. -- 2025-03-03

Picture from responders. A 49-year-old man from Chonburi is in a critical condition after stabbing himself in the neck with a kitchen knife following an argument with his wife about eating before drinking. At approximately 14.30 on 2 March, police from Mueang Chonburi Police Station received a report of a self-inflicted stabbing incident at a house in Ban Suan Subdistrict, Mueang Chonburi District. Emergency responders from the Thammarassamee Maneerat Foundation were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, rescue personnel found Mr Prayoon, 49, unconscious and lying on the floor. A 15cm-long kitchen knife was discovered beside him. Medics provided emergency first aid before rushing him to Chonburi Hospital for urgent medical treatment. According to the victim’s wife, her husband was preparing to go out drinking with friends when she suggested he eat first, as she had just finished cooking. She explained that she was concerned for his well-being, but her husband became upset and frustrated, saying he wanted to die simply because he was being asked to eat first. He then reportedly took a sharp knife from the kitchen and stabbed himself in the neck in an apparent act of distress. The police have confirmed that they will conduct a further investigation once the man’s condition stabilises to determine the cause of the incident and whether any legal action is required. -- 2025-03-03

Picture from responders. A woman and her nephew rescued a man they believed to be drowning in a roadside canal in Buriram province, only to realise in shock that he had been dead for at least two days. At around 12:00 on 2 March, Pol. Lt. Anusorn Yontsatitkul, an investigative officer at Prakhon Chai Police Station, received a report from locals about a drowning victim found in a canal along the Buriram-Prakhon Chai road, approximately two kilometres from Prakhon Chai town. Police officers, along with rescue teams from Sawang Janyatham Foundation and Ban Song Mueang Rescue, arrived at the scene. The water in the roadside canal was approximately two metres deep. Near the edge of the canal, they discovered the body of a man later identified as Mr Mee 63. His body showed no visible signs of violence, and his fishing equipment and motorcycle were found nearby. Authorities estimated that he had been deceased for about two days, as his body had already begun to emit a strong odour, with signs of decomposition. Ms Jim 51, was the first to discover the body. She recounted that she and her nephew had gone fishing, when she noticed strands of hair floating on the water’s surface. Suspecting someone was drowning, she asked her nephew to pull the person out. Believing there was still a chance to save him, they laid the body face-up and began performing CPR. After about four or five chest compressions, water gushed out from the man’s mouth, accompanied by an overwhelming foul smell. Within moments, swarms of flies appeared, making her realise that he had been dead for some time. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of death. The body has been sent for an autopsy to confirm the time and circumstances of his passing. However, initial findings suggest there was no foul play. -- 2025-03-03

UPDATE Former Muay Thai Fighter Arrested for Mother’s Murder After Traffic Stop Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A fugitive former Muay Thai fighter who allegedly killed his own mother has been arrested after a routine traffic stop in Nakhon Pathom. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Nattapol, was caught when he rode through a police checkpoint without wearing a helmet, leading officers to question him and ultimately uncover his shocking crime. The case has horrified the community in Trang province, where the crime took place on 1 March. Nattapol, reportedly a drug addict, is accused of fatally punching and beating his mother, Sudarat, 46, inside their home in Koh Tiao village, Yan Ta Khao district. Following the attack, he allegedly posted a chilling image on Facebook posing with his mother’s lifeless body, mockingly referring to himself as the Grim Reaper. His younger sister, 23-year-old Suthathip, expressed her devastation, revealing that their mother had always loved and supported her brother despite his troubled past. She also disclosed that Nattapol had previously served time in prison. After committing the crime, Nattapol fled on a Honda Wave 110 motorbike (registration from Trang). Authorities tracked his movements and later found that he had been spotted in Phra Samut Chedi, Samut Prakan, where a concerned citizen recorded a video of him. In the clip, Nattapol claimed he was heading to Trat province but only had 100 baht left. The kind-hearted local provided him with food and fuel, unaware of his criminal background. In a bizarre turn of events, instead of continuing his escape, Nattapol made his way to Nakhon Pathom, where he was stopped at a routine traffic checkpoint early on 2 March for not wearing a helmet. Officers noticed his erratic behaviour and a Trang licence plate on his vehicle. When questioned, he spoke incoherently, raising further suspicion. A quick investigation confirmed his identity as a wanted murder suspect, leading to his immediate arrest. During initial questioning, Nattapol reportedly gave confused responses, stating that he had been in Samut Prakan the night before and was trying to get to Trat but did not know the route. His erratic journey ultimately led him into police custody in Nakhon Pathom. -- 2025-03-03

Picture from responders. A delivery driver lost his life, and another person was injured when he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a parked vehicle and a pedestrian bridge in Samut Prakan. At approximately 13:30 on 2 March, police from Samrong Tai Police Station received a report of a serious road crash on Pu Chao Saming Phrai Road, heading from Phra Pradaeng Pier towards Samrong. The incident occurred near the Isuzu factory in Moo 3, Samrong Klang, Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan. Emergency responders from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, along with rescue equipment, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a black Ford Ranger pickup truck, registration from Bangkok, overturned on its left side near the pedestrian bridge. The vehicle’s front and left side were completely wrecked. Inside, rescue workers found the body of 56-year-old Surasak Boonwasana, a delivery truck driver, trapped in the wreckage with severe head injuries. His body had to be extracted using cutting equipment. Nearby, a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, registration from Bangkok, and a Honda Wave motorcycle, registration from Bangkok, were both damaged, along with the front glass of a barbershop. About 50 metres away at a U-turn, officers found a silver Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, registration from Bangkok, with extensive damage to its rear. Inside this vehicle was 31-year-old Lapatsarada Prathan, who suffered minor injuries. She had been sitting in the passenger seat while her husband and son were inside the barbershop. Emergency responders provided first aid before transferring her to a nearby hospital. CCTV footage captured the moment the black pickup truck, driven by the deceased, was travelling at high speed in the right lane before suddenly swerving left. It then slammed into the parked Isuzu pickup truck near the pedestrian bridge. Sunthorn Ponglun, 32, a witness, stated:“I was sitting by the road, when I saw the truck speeding past. It looked like the driver blacked out. He was in the right lane but suddenly swerved left and crashed into the parked pickup truck. A woman was inside that vehicle, but luckily she wasn’t badly hurt.” Chanaphisitha Tripornphun, 50, the barbershop owner whose motorcycles were damaged, described the impact:“I was cutting a customer’s hair when I heard a sound like an explosion. When I turned around, I saw the truck nearly hitting the pedestrian bridge. The glass at the front of my shop shattered, and both my motorcycles were destroyed. The driver must have been going over 100 km/h.” Warin Dechchai, 38, the owner of the parked Isuzu pickup truck, recounted:“I had just taken my son to the barbershop and left my wife waiting in the car. Less than ten minutes later, I heard a loud bang, like a tyre exploding. I ran out and saw my wife dazed with a small head wound. I was terrified something had happened to her. In my truck.” Sukchin Tama, 69, a friend of the deceased, speculated that alcohol may have been a factor:“Before the accident, he invited me to go home to Saraburi with him, as we often travelled together. But today, I decided not to go. Not long after, I heard about the crash. I suspect he was drunk because when he visited my house earlier, he seemed intoxicated. He didn’t have any underlying health issues but drank regularly. We had been friends for 13 years and worked as truck drivers together. He never married and often returned to Saraburi.” Police have taken initial photographs and logged the details of the crash. CCTV footage will be reviewed in further detail to confirm the cause. The deceased’s body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for an autopsy. -- 2025-03-03

Picture from responders. A 30-year-old man turned himself in to police after fatally shooting a rival in front of a house in Songkhla province, claiming he acted in self-defence after fearing he would be attacked with a machete. At around 07:30 on 2 March, officers from Rattaphum Police Station, Songkhla, were alerted to a fatal shooting at a residence in Moo 6, Tha Chamuang subdistrict, Rattaphum district. Police, forensic investigators, and medical personnel from Rattaphum Hospital were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the body of Mr Chamnarn 55, from Moo 12, Tha Chamuang. He had sustained four gunshot wounds to the head, torso, right arm, and hand, fired from a .38 calibre revolver. The victim lay in a pool of blood in front of the house. The suspect, Mr Warayuth 30, also from Tha Chamuang, fled the scene on a motorcycle but later surrendered at Rattaphum Police Station. He confessed to the shooting and admitted to disposing of the weapon in a canal behind his house. According to Mr Warayuth’s statement, he was riding his motorcycle to buy groceries when he encountered Mr Chamnarn, his long-time rival, standing outside his house. The suspect claimed he stopped to resolve their conflict, but the victim allegedly brandished a machete and attempted to strike him. Fearing for his life, Mr Warayuth said he stepped back, drew his firearm, and fired all six rounds in his revolver before fleeing home to dispose of the weapon. Mr Warayuth told police that Mr Chamnarn had previously threatened him and even attempted to attack him inside his home, possibly under the influence of drugs. He had reported the earlier incident to Rattaphum Police but tensions between them continued. On the morning of the shooting, he said he only stopped to talk but panicked when Mr Chamnarn raised the machete, prompting him to fire in self-defence. Local residents reported hearing multiple gunshots and, upon investigating, found Mr Warayuth standing with the gun in his hand while Mr Chamnarn lay motionless on the ground. However, they were too afraid to intervene. Authorities called in a rescue diving team from the Mitraphap Samakkhi Foundation in Hat Yai and Rattaphum Rescue to search the canal where Mr Warayuth claimed to have discarded the weapon, but it has yet to be recovered. Mr Warayuth has been charged with murder, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and carrying a firearm in public without proper authorisation. -- 2025-03-03

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A Swedish man was found in deep distress after discovering his 26-year-old Thai girlfriend had taken her own life in their Pattaya condominium. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of 2 March, prompting an immediate police investigation. At approximately 04:05, Police Lieutenant Suthiraphan Tapasri of Pattaya City Police Station received a report of a suicide at a condominium in South Pattaya, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. Officers and rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the Swedish man weeping uncontrollably beside the body of his girlfriend, identified as Ms. Sureetip, 26. She had used a pair of trousers to hang herself. In his grief, the man had lowered her body before the authorities arrived and was found lying next to her, inconsolable. A security guard at the condominium reported that the foreign man had approached him earlier that night, pleading for help after his girlfriend had locked herself inside the room, threatening to end her life. The security guard attempted to knock on the door multiple times but received no response. Out of concern, he asked the Swedish man for permission to climb onto the balcony to check on her. Upon gaining access, he was met with a devastating sight, Ms. Sureetip had already lost consciousness. Authorities were immediately alerted. A close friend of the deceased revealed that she had called earlier in the evening, distressed over her relationship. She expressed fears that her foreign boyfriend no longer loved her and mentioned taking pills in an attempt to end her life. Her final words included a heartbreaking phrase: “If you don’t see the coffin, you won’t shed tears.” Out of concern, the friend rushed to see her and also contacted the Swedish boyfriend, urging him to stay with her. However, later that night, he left the apartment to have dinner, leaving Ms. Sureetip alone. When he returned, he found the door locked and sought help from security, only to discover the tragic outcome. Police Lieutenant Suthiraphan Tapasri conducted a thorough examination of the scene, finding no signs of struggle or foul play. The body has been transferred for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Two Women Caught Smuggling Millions of Baht at Nong Khai Border Picture courtesy of Khoasod. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Two women were arrested at the Nong Khai border crossing while attempting to bring over 3.6 million baht into the country. They later admitted to being hired to transport the cash but claimed they were unaware of the legal implications. The incident occurred on 2 March at the First Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge border checkpoint in Nong Khai. Following orders from Theerach Atthanavanich, Director-General of the Customs Department, authorities were conducting strict inspections to prevent customs violations and related offences. Nong Khai Customs Office Director, Wannapa Phu-utsa, instructed officials, including Somsin Chitsamonuk, Director of the First Customs Service Office, and Phatthanaphong Tantiwattanakulchai, Head of Customs Service Division 1, to monitor border crossings closely. At around 15:30, officers noticed two women, later identified as Ms Suphanuch (27) from Chiang Kham, Phayao, and Ms Sasipha (39) from Phaya Mengrai, Chiang Rai, arriving from Laos on an international bus from Vientiane to Nong Khai. Each was carrying a large suitcase. Suspicious of their luggage, customs officers directed their bags through an X-ray scanner, which revealed suspicious objects stacked inside. Upon further inspection, authorities discovered large amounts of cash inside the suitcases: • Ms Suphanuch’s bag contained 2,100,000 baht in 1,000-baht notes. • Ms Sasipha’s bag contained 1,500,000 baht in 1,000-baht notes. The total amount seized was 3.6 million baht. Both women were immediately taken into custody. During questioning, the suspects confessed that they had been hired by a Hmong national to pick up the suitcases from Laos and transport them to northern Thailand. However, they claimed they had not been told which province to deliver the money to and insisted this was their first time carrying out such an operation. They also stated they were unaware that their actions were illegal. Authorities seized the cash as state property and processed the case under customs regulations. Both women agreed to pay the required fines, with penalties set at 150,000 baht and 420,000 baht, respectively. The Customs Department continues to investigate whether the case is linked to a larger smuggling operation. -- 2025-03-03

Picture captured from CCTV below. A daring robbery took place in Mae Sot, Tak province, when a lone thief disguised as a food delivery rider stormed into a gold shop, brandished a firearm, and stole gold worth approximately 4.7 million baht in under a minute before fleeing on a motorcycle. Police are now hunting the suspect, fearing he may attempt to escape across the border into Myanmar. At 19:12 on 2 March, Pol. Lt. Col. Sarayut Khongthong, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) at Mae Sot Police Station, received a report of an armed robbery at Orosa 5 Gold Shop, located inside a Lotus supermarket in Mae Sot Municipality. Upon arrival, officers found that the thief had seized a total of 102 baht-weight in gold necklaces, • One tray of 10-baht-weight necklaces • Two trays of 2-baht-weight necklaces The total stolen amount was valued at around 4.7 million baht, and the entire operation took just one minute. Police reviewed CCTV footage, which revealed that the suspect was a slim man, approximately 165 cm tall or taller, wearing: • A black full-face helmet • A green rider-style jacket with a camouflage-patterned inner shirt • Slim-fit black jeans • Black shoes with white laces • A large black backpack The suspect arrived alone on a motorcycle of an unknown make and parked in the motorbike area near the entrance of the shopping complex. He walked into the gold shop, where several employees and customers were browsing. Drawing a small handgun, he shouted threats at the staff, causing panic. As customers screamed in alarm, the employees fled for their safety. The robber then swiftly swept the gold into his backpack, ran back to his motorbike, and sped away along the Mae Sot-Tak road. Mae Sot police have since launched an urgent manhunt for the suspect, setting up roadblocks along the Myanmar border to prevent him from escaping into the neighbouring country. -- 2025-03-03 ScreenRecording_03-03-2025 03-16-00_1.mp4

A Japanese national was arrested in Bangkok’s Watthana district after acting suspiciously near a shopping mall restroom, leading police to discover four ecstasy pills in his possession. The man claimed he had purchased the drugs to try but was caught before he had the chance to take them. The arrest took place at around 14:00 on 1 March 2025. According to Police Major General Witthawat Chinnakham, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, and officers from Thonglor Police Station, the suspect was identified as 31-year-old Masato Omichi, a Japanese national. Officers were alerted by a concerned citizen who reported seeing a foreign man pacing back and forth in front of a restroom on the fourth floor of a shopping complex in Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana district. Fearing suspicious activity, the citizen called the police to investigate. Upon arrival, police found Omichi at the scene. When officers identified themselves, the suspect displayed nervous behaviour, raising suspicions. A search was conducted in a well-lit area, ensuring transparency in the process. Inside Omichi’s brown leather bag, officers discovered four ecstasy pills in a clear plastic bag. The bag also contained his passport and personal belongings. During questioning, the suspect admitted to purchasing the drugs from an unidentified man, claiming he intended to try them but had not yet consumed any. A urine test for amphetamines came back negative, confirming that he had not taken the substance. Omichi was charged with “possession of a Category 1 narcotic (ecstasy) without legal authority.” He was taken to Thonglor Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities have reminded the public that drug possession carries serious legal consequences in Thailand, and police will continue to enforce strict measures against illegal substances. -- 2025-03-03
