According to reports, a white Ford car with four Chinese passengers exited a tunnel under the motorway, before abruptly pulling in front of the truck, leaving the truck driver unable to brake in time. The impact was severe, trapping the car’s occupants inside. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya and medical personnel from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya arrived swiftly at the scene. Despite their efforts, two passengers suffered critical injuries and could not be revived, while the other two were rushed to hospital with serious injuries. The force of the crash also caused the Ford sedan to spin out of control, striking a black Toyota Yaris parked by the roadside and then back into the path of the braking truck. The victim’s face had been fully covered with the soil and rescuers dug him out using hand tools. The victim had suffocated and was unresponsive, with attempts at CPR being unsuccessful. Mr Somphian being pronounced dead at the scene. According to the rescue team, Mr. Somphian had been working to level the ground where a pipe had been laid when the soil around the side of excavation site collapsed, burying him under the weight of the earth. His relatives have been notified of his passing, and his body was transferred to Tha Rong Chang Hospital for further examination. Woraphat Sukthai, Deputy Superintendent of Bang Sue Police Station, received a report from security officers at the Bangkok Bus Terminal, about a suspicious man carrying a firearm. Police officers, including Pol. Capt. Piyarat Pawitthatri and other members of the Bang Sue patrol unit, were dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as Mr. Chaiwat, 52, a resident of Phang Nga province. He was preparing to board a bus to Nakhon Ratchasima when police noticed his nervous behaviour. A search of his shoulder bag uncovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol (serial number VJC0308 – Bangkok 4411363), along with a magazine, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a black gun holster. Mr. Chaiwat was immediately charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition without a permit to carry (under Section 12 of the Firearms Act) and for carrying a firearm in public without reasonable cause. During questioning, he stated that he worked for the Department of Forestry and was travelling to Phimai district in Nakhon Ratchasima to visit his girlfriend. He explained that he had taken the firearm with him because his house was often left unoccupied, and he feared it might be stolen. Although the weapon was legally registered, he admitted that he did not have a permit to carry it in public. Police from Phra Samut Chedi Station, along with medics from Phra Samut Chedi Sawatyanon Hospital and rescue workers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation, arrived at the scene to find a horrific sight. The victim’s blue-and-white Honda Wave motorcycle lay overturned on the roadside, while his body was found a short distance away. His skull had been crushed, with matter and blood were scattered across the road. The victim was identified as Mr. Chotiphat, a resident of Bangkok’s Sathorn district. He was carrying an electrician’s certification card issued by a skills assessment centre. A taxi driver, who witnessed the crash, told police that the motorcyclist had attempted to overtake a lorry from the left side at high speed. However, he suddenly lost control and fell, with his body being flung under the lorry’s rear left wheels. The lorry driver failed to stop and continued driving. The taxi driver followed the lorry, which turned into a company compound in Soi Wat Laem Fa Pha, before immediately notifying the police. Authorities have recorded the incident and sent the victim’s body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. They will contact the deceased’s family and arrange for them to collect his remains. Nasin Sinthurat, Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukwisit, and Pol. Lt. Col. Jakkrit Jantakham, set up a checkpoint on Sukhumvit Road in front of the station. During routine inspections, police stopped a silver Toyota Vios with Bangkok registration plates. The driver, identified as Panyaphon “Pae” Traerungroj, 42, exhibited suspicious behaviour, prompting officers to conduct a thorough search. They found 117 meth pills and 2.21 grams of crystal meth on his person. Three passengers were also searched: • Sarad “Od” Ketphan, 56, was found in possession of 32 meth pills. • Suwannee “Toom” Sangsillapawet, 51, was found carrying drug paraphernalia and two meth pills. • Chatchadaporn “Nueng” Paksai, 40, had three meth pills in her possession. All four individuals were arrested, and the drugs were seized as evidence. During questioning, Suwannee revealed that Panyaphon had travelled from Nonthaburi in an attempt to reconcile with her after a personal dispute. She stated that they had spoken and agreed to make amends before planning to rent a room together, where they intended to take drugs. However, they were intercepted by police before reaching their destination. Suwannee further disclosed that she had previously worked as a employee at the Army Ordnance Department for over 25 years. However, her involvement with drugs had led to frequent absences, resulting in disciplinary action. She was suspended from duty for two years without pay, leaving her in financial difficulty. To support herself and her children, she turned to drug dealing. Following the arrests, all four suspects were taken to Bang Lamung Police Station for further investigation. The road was wet due to rain, making conditions hazardous. Upon arrival, rescue workers were assisting injured passengers. Eight individuals were taken to Krung Siam St. Carlos Hospital, while the remaining passengers boarded another shuttle bus to continue their journey to work. Nearby, officers found the overturned shuttle bus, registered in Pathum Thani, which had veered off the road and struck an electricity pole, snapping it in half. The driver, Mr. Nuntaphat, 52, was present at the scene, awaiting police questioning. According to Mr. Nuntaphat, he was transporting employees from Nakhon Chai Nuan Korn to a factory in the Bangkadi Industrial Estate when the crash occurred.
