Nasin Sinthurat, Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukwisit, and Pol. Lt. Col. Jakkrit Jantakham, set up a checkpoint on Sukhumvit Road in front of the station. During routine inspections, police stopped a silver Toyota Vios with Bangkok registration plates. The driver, identified as Panyaphon “Pae” Traerungroj, 42, exhibited suspicious behaviour, prompting officers to conduct a thorough search. They found 117 meth pills and 2.21 grams of crystal meth on his person. Three passengers were also searched: • Sarad “Od” Ketphan, 56, was found in possession of 32 meth pills. • Suwannee “Toom” Sangsillapawet, 51, was found carrying drug paraphernalia and two meth pills. • Chatchadaporn “Nueng” Paksai, 40, had three meth pills in her possession. All four individuals were arrested, and the drugs were seized as evidence. During questioning, Suwannee revealed that Panyaphon had travelled from Nonthaburi in an attempt to reconcile with her after a personal dispute. She stated that they had spoken and agreed to make amends before planning to rent a room together, where they intended to take drugs. However, they were intercepted by police before reaching their destination. Suwannee further disclosed that she had previously worked as a employee at the Army Ordnance Department for over 25 years. However, her involvement with drugs had led to frequent absences, resulting in disciplinary action. She was suspended from duty for two years without pay, leaving her in financial difficulty. To support herself and her children, she turned to drug dealing. Following the arrests, all four suspects were taken to Bang Lamung Police Station for further investigation. The incident involved multiple injuries, prompting an immediate response from traffic police and rescue teams from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. The road was wet due to rain, making conditions hazardous. Upon arrival, rescue workers were assisting injured passengers. Eight individuals were taken to Krung Siam St. Carlos Hospital, while the remaining passengers boarded another shuttle bus to continue their journey to work. Nearby, officers found the overturned shuttle bus, registered in Pathum Thani, which had veered off the road and struck an electricity pole, snapping it in half. The driver, Mr. Nuntaphat, 52, was present at the scene, awaiting police questioning. According to Mr. Nuntaphat, he was transporting employees from Nakhon Chai Nuan Korn to a factory in the Bangkadi Industrial Estate when the crash occurred. As he approached the scene, rain began to fall, and when he applied the brakes, the rear brakes locked up, causing him to lose control and roll on its side. The 24-year-old husband, a Myanmar national, reportedly became enraged after his 36-year-old wife refused to serve him rice. She allegedly refused because he frequently drank alcohol. In a fit of anger, the man grabbed a broken bottle and stabbed her in the head and near her left ear, causing severe bleeding. Fearing for her life, the injured woman fled to a nearby vegetable shop, where she sought help from local residents. Rescue personnel and officers from Bang Pu Police Station arrived at the scene and provided first aid before transporting the victim to Samut Prakan Hospital. Police later arrested the husband, who admitted to attacking his wife out of hunger and frustration. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Police Lieutenant Thanakorn Saowaro of Pae Police Station received a report of the fatal collision on the afternoon of 18 February, at a traffic junction in Pae subdistrict, Mueang Rayong district. Investigators, medical personnel from Rayong Hospital, and rescue workers from the Sawang Porn Kusol Foundation responded to the scene. The victim, later identified as Mr Goulcin, was found lying face down with severe injuries and his bicycle lay nearby. A lorry was parked at the scene, reportedly having turned across his path. According to a friend of the deceased, Mr Goulcin had been cycling to a restaurant for a final meal before flying back to France. As he approached the junction, the traffic light was green, and he was in the leftmost side of the road. However the lorry behind him was beginning to turn left and seemed unaware of the cyclist, resulting in a fatal collision. Caution video below contains scenes of CPR from the scene. Police have detained the lorry driver for questioning and are conducting a full investigation. According to reports from flight tracking service Flightradar24, the emergency signal was sent while the aircraft was over the Gulf of Thailand. Reports suggest that a passenger suffered cardiac arrest, prompting the crew to request priority landing in an effort to provide urgent medical attention upon arrival. Aviation sources have indicated that air traffic control (ATC) immediately cleared the flight for direct routing to Suvarnabhumi, bypassing standard arrival procedures to ensure the aircraft could land as quickly as possible. Typically, the journey from Singapore to Bangkok takes approximately on average 1 hour 54 minutes, but TG408 completed the flight in just 1 hour 46 minutes, underscoring the urgency of the situation. At approximately 08:00 on February 18, the Thoen Rescue Association in Lampang received a distress call reporting that a man had been severely injured by a wild boar in Ban Pang Kum, Mae Pa subdistrict, Thoen district. Rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene. The attack occurred in a forested area approximately one kilometre from the village. Despite his injuries, the victim, identified as Mr. Sombat 48, remained conscious and managed to phone his relatives for help. Villagers rushed to his aid, carrying him out of the forest before notifying rescue services. Upon arrival, rescue workers found Mr. Sombat suffering from multiple deep lacerations on his calf, ankle, and thigh, resulting in significant blood loss. He appeared weak and disoriented. Emergency personnel provided first aid before transferring him to Thoen Hospital for further treatment. Preliminary reports indicate that Mr. Sombat had entered the forest with his dog, as he regularly did to forage for food. Shortly after, he called his relatives in distress, reporting that he had been attacked by a wild boar and needed urgent assistance. His family and neighbours quickly organised a rescue effort, carrying him to safety before contacting emergency services. Miraculously, no one was seriously injured. The crash occurred on a straight section of road leading into Amnat Charoen city. Emergency services were alerted, and officers from Mueang Amnat Charoen Police Station arrived at the scene to find a white pick-up truck on its side and resting on the rear of a tow truck parked outside a motorcycle repair shop. Three motorcycles had been completely destroyed in the crash. CCTV footage from the area captured the moment the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and smashed into the parked motorcycles before flipping onto the tow truck. The driver suffered only minor chest pain and was immediately taken to Amnat Charoen Hospital for a thorough medical check-up. The owner of the repair shop, who witnessed the incident, described the shocking moment: “I was inspecting work inside the garage when I suddenly heard a loud crash. When I turned around, I saw the pick-up truck had already flipped onto the back of my tow truck. I immediately sent my staff to check for injuries, but luckily, no one else was hurt.” Interestingly, the shop owner recalled that a similar accident had occurred at the same location ten years ago. However, in that instance, the vehicle had only overturned without crashing into other vehicles. Initial police investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve off the road, hit the parked motorcycles, and flip onto the tow truck. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist those involved in the accident, which occurred at approximately 14:00 on 18 February. The incident took place on the bypass road near the 1+800 – 1+900 kilometre mark in Nong Pla Lai, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The bus, operated by Rung Rueng Tour Company, was travelling from Bangkok to Pattaya when the driver lost control and it flipped onto its side, blocking two lanes of traffic. The injured passengers, both Thai and foreign nationals, along with the driver, suffered various injuries, primarily bruises and minor cuts. Emergency crews, including medics and volunteers, quickly arrived at the scene, extracting the injured passengers from the wreckage. They were then provided with first aid and transported to nearby hospitals, including Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital and Bang Lamung Hospital, for further treatment. As the injured were being treated at the scene, a thunder storm hit the area and those passengers with minor injuries were put on a passing empty tour bus with medics and the bus transported them to the bus station, under an ambulance escort, for triage and either first aid or hospital treatment as required. (Video below) According to initial reports, the bus driver was attempting to avoid a vehicle that suddenly cut in front of the bus after leaving a gas station. In trying to brake and swerve to avoid a collision, the bus lost control and overturned onto its side and sliding along the road. The road was wet, after the first rainfall in the area for sometime. The incident occurred on 17 February at approximately 14:15 at Ban Saen Charoen in Wa Wi subdistrict, where a team of technicians was performing maintenance and safety tests on the zipline system. According to initial reports, while Mr. Watchara, a technician was testing parts of a zipline cable, the wire suddenly snapped, causing him to fall to the ground. Simultaneously, the supporting tower, where three other workers were standing , gave way under the strain of the wire breaking and collapsed to the ground. Local authorities, including the district chief, police officers from Mae Suai Police Station, volunteer rescuers, public health officials, and representatives from the Wa Wi Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, quickly responded to the scene. Initial responders found one of the zipline’s main support post toppled over and the injured men thrown to the ground. The injured were provided with first aid and immediately transported to Mae Suai Hospital. Mr. Watchara sustained critical head injuries and was later pronounced dead at hospital, due to the fall. The other injured workers were identified as Mr. Warawut, who suffered broken front teeth, lacerations to his left arm and chin; Mr. Kritsakorn, who experienced chest injuries; and Mr. Phitthawat, who sustained abrasions on his abdomen. In response to the tragedy, the chairman of the Wa Wi Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, acting under Thailand’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act, issued an order prohibiting the use of the zipline. Meanwhile, the Mae Suai Police have launched a full investigation and will summon all relevant parties to determine the exact cause of the incident. -- 2025-02-18

Their shocked companions, who were present at the scene, provided details of the incident. According to their account, the group had arrived at the location around 17:00 in a pickup truck to catch birds. The three victims had been drinking near the railway tracks while waiting for their friends, who had ventured into nearby scrubland to find the birds. It is believed that the deceased, for some unknown reason, failed to notice the approaching train, which was heading towards Chiang Mai, resulting in the fatal collision. The elephant initially walked away from the scene but was later found dead. The accident occurred at approximately 05:00 on Highway 344, near kilometre marker 44, in Moo 2, Hang Sung subdistrict, Nong Yai district. Authorities arrived at the scene to find a severely damaged Volkswagen minivan, registered in Rayong. According to reports, the minivan was descending a hill near Ban Huai Yama, just before a PTT petrol station, when it struck an elephant that was crossing the road towards Hang Sung. The collision resulted in injuries to two passengers, a man and a woman. Following the collision, locals spotted an elephant near a restaurant called “Khrua Rim Suan” before it wandered behind the Suksomboon factory. Witnesses reported that the elephant appeared agitated, charged towards lights, and chased barking dogs. At around 10:00, on 17 February, the elephant was discovered collapsed and lifeless in a wooded area behind the factory. A 57-year-old man has been arrested for fatally shooting a 49-year-old woman in Maha Sarakham province, allegedly in a fit of rage over an unpaid bank loan that left him facing financial hardship and a ruined credit score. Police officers, led by Lt. Col. Thongdee Hatti and Capt. Chanyut Kaewjinda from Wapi Pathum Police Station, responded to the shooting in Nong Hai subdistrict, Wapi Pathum district. At the scene, they found Ms. Wanphen, 49, critically wounded with gunshot injuries, one to the right side of her chest and two to her left shoulder. Three spent bullets were recovered nearby. Despite being rushed to Wapi Pathum Hospital, she was later pronounced dead. The suspect, identified as Mr. Wichai, 57, fled the scene with a .38-calibre firearm. However, police quickly tracked him down and arrested him in a wooded area approximately 100 metres from the crime scene. During interrogation, Mr. Wichai admitted to the shooting, explaining that seven years ago, he, his partner, and Ms. Wanphen had each taken out a 50,000-baht bank loan, acting as guarantors for one another. While he and his partner had repaid their debts, Ms. Wanphen had defaulted entirely. As a result, the bank initiated legal proceedings and threatened to seize his partner’s farmland, leaving him financially ruined and blacklisted by the credit bureau. On the day of the incident, Mr. Wichai had been drinking with neighbours when he saw Ms. Wanphen arrive on a motorcycle. He confronted her, demanding she repay the loan, but she refused, saying she had no money. Enraged, he retrieved a revolver he had purchased four years ago for 5,000 baht and shot her until the weapon was empty before attempting to flee.
