Picture from responders. A devastating multi-vehicle collision involving a cement truck, a private car, and a steel transport lorry resulted in two fatalities and two injuries on the Western Ring Road (Highway 9) in the early hours of February 2. At approximately 01:00 Pol. Lt. Kritchatha Prathumkaew, an investigating officer from Sam Khok Police Station, received a report of a serious crash in Bang Krabue, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province. Emergency responders from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation rushed to the scene with hydraulic rescue tools to assist those trapped in the wreckage. Upon arrival, authorities found an 18-wheeler lorry carrying steel, registered in Kamphaeng Phet, with its rear damaged from the impact. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Mr. Sakon was unharmed. Behind the lorry, a black Honda car with Bangkok registration was wedged between the steel transport truck and another 18-wheeler carrying cement powder, registered in Phatthalung. The car’s front had collided with the steel lorry, while its rear had been crushed by the cement truck. Rescue workers discovered two injured individuals on the road, who had escaped from the wreckage and were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment. Two victims, both trapped inside the car, were pronounced dead at the scene. It took emergency crews two hours to extract their bodies from the wreckage. Their identities have not yet been disclosed. Witnesses reported that at least ten plainclothes officers arrived at the crash site, identifying themselves as members of the Metropolitan Police Bureau. They confirmed that both the injured and deceased were fellow officers. Mr. Sakon, the driver of the steel transport lorry, stated that he had parked his vehicle on the roadside for a rest when he heard a loud crash at the rear of his truck. Upon inspection, he discovered that the car and cement truck had collided forcefully with his vehicle. Investigators from Sam Khok Police Station, along with forensic specialists from the Ministry of Justice, examined the scene, interviewed the drivers involved, and documented the wreckage. The bodies of the deceased were transferred to the forensic unit for further examination. Police plan to question the injured survivors to determine the exact cause of the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the incident and will review CCTV footage to establish the sequence of events leading up to the collision. -- 2025-02-02

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A couple in Udon Thani was left stunned when they returned home to find their pet dogs had dragged a bag containing 400 methamphetamine pills onto their property and torn it open. Alarmed by the discovery, they immediately contacted the police. The incident took place in Nong Bua Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, at around 17:30 on 31st January. Police Lieutenant Wikanes Suetrong, deputy inspector at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station, received a report that a group of dogs had found and carried illegal drugs onto private property. Officers from the 191 patrol unit and the investigation team were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, police found Mr. Kritsada (44) and Ms. Laddawan (42), the homeowners, waiting for them. The couple had placed a black plastic container over the narcotics to prevent their seven pet dogs from further damaging the drug packets. Officers found two blue plastic bags containing 400 methamphetamine pills, along with over ten loose pills scattered on the ground. Security camera footage showed the couple returning home by car. Ms. Laddawan was the first to step out of the vehicle, immediately noticing a torn plastic bag with scattered pills on the ground. Recognising the appearance of the tablets from news reports, she called her husband over. Unable to determine which of their dogs had carried the drugs home, the couple swiftly alerted the authorities. Ms. Laddawan explained that their dogs frequently retrieve discarded objects such as rubbish bags and children’s toys from the surrounding area. Each morning, she regularly clears away the collected debris. Police suspect that a drug dealer may have hidden the meth pills near an electric pole, in a bush, or inside a rubbish bin, and that the dogs stumbled upon them before bringing them home. The Mueang Udon Thani Police Station has seized the methamphetamine pills as evidence and launched an investigation to track down the source of the drugs. Officers are working to determine whether the narcotics were intended for a pickup by local drug traffickers or accidentally left behind. -- 2025-02-02

Picture captured from Facebook video below. A man wielding two knives caused panic among locals in Mueang Sa Kaeo as he staggered down a road shouting, “I got 200 baht!” Police officers subdued him after a dramatic struggle, and he was subsequently detained in a local police station. The incident occurred on 1 February in Moo 4, Tha Yaek Subdistrict, Mueang Sa Kaeo District, during the election for provincial administrative organisation councillors. The event gained public attention after a Facebook user, “John Wick,” posted a video of the man’s erratic behaviour. The clip was widely shared on social media, with many expressing concern about social issues and substance abuse. Police Officers from Pang Sida Police Station, who were on their way to monitor polling stations, encountered the man on the road. He was carrying a long-handled knife and a shorter blade, waving them erratically and alarming passers-by. The suspect, later identified as Mr Nai, aged 34, was reportedly heavily intoxicated. Seizing an opportunity as he stumbled and fell in the middle of the road, police officers rushed in to disarm him. A struggle ensued as officers attempted to wrestle the knives from his grip. A local man in an orange shirt stepped in to assist, successfully removing the weapons from the scene. Additional officers arrived and managed to restrain the suspect. During the altercation, Police Senior Sergeant Major Anan Buayai sustained an injury, dislocating his left shoulder. He was taken to Somdet Phra Yupharat Sa Kaeo Hospital for treatment. Local residents reported that the man had been seen wandering the area since the morning, carrying a bottle of white spirit. Witnesses heard him repeatedly shouting, “I got 200 baht!”, an amount some speculated could be related to election-related payments. Mr Nai is a known alcoholic in the community and is unemployed. His parents separated, with his father moving to Sakon Nakhon to start a new family. Following his arrest, police detained him at Pang Sida Police Station to allow him to sober up before questioning. The video of the incident sparked widespread discussion online, with many users calling for stronger measures against drug and alcohol abuse. Some questioned why alcohol was available despite election-day restrictions, while others criticised the growing prevalence of substance abuse in Thai society. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the suspect will face charges, pending further investigation into his mental and physical condition. -- 2025-02-02 ScreenRecording_02-02-2025 09-59-11_1.mp4

Burglar Found Dead After Breaking into Local Official's Home, Police Suspect Foul Play A suspected burglar who allegedly broke into the home of a Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO) official in Rayong province was found dead under suspicious circumstances. While initial reports suggested that the suspect took his own life after being chased by household members, police have raised concerns over inconsistencies at the crime scene, hinting at possible foul play. Picture from responders. A suspected burglar who allegedly broke into the home of a Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO) official in Rayong province was found dead under suspicious circumstances. While initial reports suggested that the suspect took his own life after being chased by household members, police have raised concerns over inconsistencies at the crime scene, hinting at possible foul play. The incident occurred at around 17:00 on 1 February, in a rubber plantation in Pa Yup Nai Subdistrict, Wang Chan District, Rayong. Authorities from Wang Chan Police Station, led by Police Lieutenant Sawai Chinwong, received a report that a man had broken into a residence, stolen a firearm, and was later found dead after allegedly shooting himself while trying to escape. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the body of an unidentified man lying in a pool of blood near the entrance of a rubber plantation. The deceased had a gunshot wound to the head, and a .38-calibre revolver was found in his right hand. The body was later transported to Wang Chan Hospital for a post- mortem examination. Mr. Somsak Morasilp, the SAO official whose house was targeted, stated that he was alerted to the burglary by members of his household. He claimed that the suspect was caught stealing valuables and a firearm from the house. When confronted, the suspect fled with the stolen gun, firing at one of his pursuers, injuring them in the hand. He allegedly attempted to fire at another person but the weapon misfired. The suspect then reportedly ran over a canal, still being pursued. According to the household members, the pressure may have led him to turn the weapon on himself and take his own life. However, Police Colonel Pattana Robru, Wang Chan Police Chief, has expressed doubts about this version of events. An initial forensic examination of the body revealed that the gunshot wound was to the back of the head, raising suspicions about whether the suspect could have shot himself. Additionally, the position of his holster and weapon suggested that drawing and firing in such a manner would have been extremely difficult. Authorities are now summoning all witnesses for further questioning and reviewing CCTV footage from the area to clarify what truly happened. Police have vowed to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure transparency and justice for all parties involved. -- 2025-02-02

The raid, led by Sutthisan Police Station, resulted in the arrest of four suspects. At 19.30 on 1st February, senior officers from Sutthisan Police Station, including Pol. Col. Jetsada Suaisom, Acting Chief of Metropolitan Police Division 2, and Pol. Col. Phorntep Chalermkiat, Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station, led an operation targeting a condominium in Soi Lat Phrao 12, Chatuchak district. Acting on intelligence from an informant, officers had been monitoring the location, suspected of serving as a storage and distribution hub for illegal e-cigarettes. Upon identifying individuals matching the reported descriptions, police moved in to conduct a search. The initial inspection revealed a large number of e-cigarettes packed in parcel boxes. Following questioning, the suspects admitted to storing additional stock in their condominium unit. A thorough search uncovered e-cigarettes neatly arranged on shelves, as well as numerous boxes prepared for shipment to customers. Police arrested four individuals identified as: • Danusorn Saenphap, 29 • Saowalak Suthawan, 37 • Thanathit Thawisuk, 51 • Thasaringkham Watchai, 30 During police interrogation, the suspects confessed to illegally selling e-cigarettes online for approximately one year. Authorities believe the operation was one of the largest illegal vaping supply chains in the capital. The suspects face multiple charges under Thailand’s Consumer Protection Act (1979) and the Customs Act, including: • Selling prohibited products as ordered by the Consumer Protection Board • Possessing and distributing contraband goods under Section 246 of the Customs Act All four individuals, along with the confiscated e-cigarettes, have been handed over to Sutthisan Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing to identify additional parties involved in the illicit trade, with potential arrests expected as part of an extended crackdown on illegal e-cigarette distribution networks in Thailand. -- 2025-02-02

Picture from responders. An incident occurred in Buriram province when a 54-year-old man was struck and killed by a train while securing his cattle in a field before heading to vote. At approximately 10:00 on 1 February, police officers from Thamenchai Police Station, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Songtham Sriwongchai, received a report of a fatal train incident near the rice fields behind Butarit Village, Moo 12, Thamenchai Subdistrict, Lam Plai Mat District. Emergency responders, including medical personnel from Lam Plai Mat Hospital and rescue teams from Sawang Janyatham Foundation, were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, authorities found a large crowd gathered around the railway tracks. The victim, identified as Mr. Jamroon was discovered with severe head injuries, and skull brain matter was scattered along the tracks. His body lay near the railway line, indicating the force of the impact. According to his wife, Mrs. Thongpaeng 58, her husband had left home around 09:00, telling her he needed to gather firewood for charcoal production before quickly returning to vote. He then led his cattle to a nearby field. After securing them, he was likely heading towards a eucalyptus grove to collect wood when the collision occurred. She further explained that her husband had hearing difficulties, which may have prevented him from detecting the approaching train. Additionally, he was in a hurry to return home in time to cast his vote, possibly leading to a lapse in awareness of his surroundings. Authorities are continuing their investigation but believe the incident was a tragic accident caused by a combination of hearing impairment and the victim's urgency to complete his tasks. Residents have been urged to exercise caution when crossing railway tracks, especially in remote areas where safety barriers and signals may not be present. -- 2025-02-02

Picture. From responders. A 73-year-old man was found burned to death in his hut in what police suspect to be a brutal murder. His charred body was discovered tied with wire around his hands and neck, with a knife placed beside him. The incident occurred late on 31 January next to a rice mill in Khong Chai district, Kalasin. A local Facebook user live-streamed the fire, reporting that the victim was the father of a prominent local businessman known as “Sia Jo,” the owner of Kaen Khun Rice Mill. The footage showed the hut engulfed in flames, with a motorcycle nearby that appeared to have been deliberately pushed over. The deceased was identified as Mr. Boonliang Jantasri, 73, the owner of the hut. Police found evidence suggesting he had been restrained before the fire, including what appeared to be electrical wire or metal cord binding his hands and neck. A sharp knife was also found next to his body. Police officers and forensic teams have since examined the scene, with locals gathering to observe the investigation. The Kalasin provincial police chief has visited the site to oversee the inquiry. Mrs. Sirirat Thinratsamee, a neighbour, told reporters that she had received a phone call close to midnight, prompting her to rush to the scene. She found a group of teenagers parked outside the rice mill, who reported seeing a woman riding away on a Honda scooter. The teenagers claimed the woman later returned and asked them if they had seen two women leaving the area. They denied seeing anyone, but noticed the hut had already caught fire. When they asked if they should intervene, the woman allegedly told them to stay back, warning that they could be accused of trespassing. Further reports suggest that at around 21:00 on the night of the fire, the victim’s daughter was seen purchasing petrol from a local shop. However, the shop owner later refuted this, stating she had only bought a bottle of Coca-Cola. Kalasin police chief Pol. Col. Korrakop Netthaisong confirmed that officers had already taken a suspect in for questioning at Khong Chai Police Station. Authorities are now gathering further evidence and witness statements. The victim’s body has been sent to Khon Kaen Hospital for autopsy. Investigators are considering multiple possibilities, including murder and arson, and have not ruled out the possibility of suicide. Police have stated that they expect to solve the case soon. -- 2025-02-02
