A Border Patrol Police officer has been charged following a fatal car crash that killed a family of three, a father, mother and their two-year-old child, in Thepha District, Songkhla Province. The incident occurred on the evening of 21 June on the Khok Pho–Na Thawi Road, in Moo 1, Lam Phlai Subdistrict. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A night out ended in death after a man was gunned down by a former friend at a karaoke bar in Tha Maka district, Kanchanaburi province. The suspect later surrendered to police and admitted to the killing, citing a personal grudge. Police were alerted to the shooting at approximately 04:30 on 22 June. Police Captain Chayut Khunritworachai, an investigator with Tha Maka Police Station, arrived at the scene, a local restaurant and karaoke bar in Moo 1, Tha Maka subdistrict, accompanied by senior officers, forensic specialists and medical staff from Makharak Hospital. Officers discovered the body of a man, later identified as Mr. Anupong, 46, lying face up near the outdoor stage area. He had been shot twice, once in the chest and once in the abdomen, with a .38-calibre revolver. His body was transported to Makharak Hospital before being sent for autopsy at Ratchaburi Forensic Institute. Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Anupong had been enjoying the night with four friends in a VIP karaoke room. During their gathering, Mr. Khongdet, 37, a former friend from the same village, entered the room but did not interact with the group. After the group settled the bill and were leaving, Mr. Khongdet unexpectedly drew a firearm and shot Mr. Anupong before fleeing the scene in a sedan. Friends of the victim attempted to assist and rushed him from the room, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching hospital. Later that morning, at around 10:30, Mr. Khongdet contacted Provincial Police Commander Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Chalodet to arrange his surrender. He handed himself in to investigators, along with the .38 revolver used in the killing. During questioning, Mr. Khongdet confessed that he and the victim had long-standing personal tensions. He stated that a verbal confrontation occurred at the karaoke bar, which reignited his anger and prompted him to shoot Mr. Anupong in the heat of the moment. He then fled but decided to turn himself in a few hours later. However, police remain cautious and plan to interview all witnesses thoroughly to determine the true motive behind the shooting. Mr. Khongdet is facing multiple charges, including: • Murder • Discharging a firearm in a public place without cause • Possession of an unlicensed firearm • Carrying a firearm in public without permission or valid reason The investigation continues. A 47-year-old woman was found in a shocking state on the morning of 23 June, submerged in a 200-litre drum of sticky asphalt in Lopburi Province. Pictures courtesy of Khaosod. A 47-year-old woman was found in a shocking state on the morning of 23 June, submerged in a 200-litre drum of sticky asphalt in Lopburi Province. She remains in critical condition in hospital, as police and locals attempt to understand the bizarre sequence of events leading up to her discovery. Police Lieutenant Sitthipong Sangthes, an investigator at Khok Samrong Police Station, received a report at approximately 08:30 of a person trapped inside a drum of asphalt on Lam Lalaeng Road, Wang Krathum Subdistrict, Khok Samrong District. Rescue workers from the Khok Samrong Songkroh Foundation found the woman, her head shaved, face smeared with tar and body entirely stuck, still breathing but unable to move. Emergency services initially attempted to free her on-site without success. Due to her deteriorating condition, she was transported, still inside the drum, to Khok Samrong Hospital. At the hospital, doctors provided urgent first aid while rescue personnel cut open the drum to pull her out and removed the woman’s tar-covered clothing. She remains in a critical condition and is currently on a ventilator under close medical supervision. The woman was later identified as Ms. Sarunthorn aged 47, after police found her ID card at the scene. Investigators also confirmed she had visited Wat Si Rattanapracharam in Khok Samrong the previous afternoon, where she donated a blue motorised tricycle and dry goods, telling the monks she was offering “everything, including the vehicle.” The temple had not yet touched the donated items, which included cooking supplies and what appeared to be a mobile noodle stall setup. A local resident, Mr. Chanon 52, was the first to discover her. He told police he was walking past the roadwork site when he glanced into the drum and saw what appeared to be a lifeless body submerged in the thick black tar. Shocked, he alerted local authorities. Nearby residents stated they had seen a woman matching her description walking near a local grilled chicken shop at around 05;00, assuming she was exercising. They expressed disbelief that she somehow ended up in a construction drum located 7–8 kilometres from the temple. CCTV footage reviewed from the temple to the scene showed the woman wearing a black t-shirt with the phrase “Stunningly Beautiful” across the chest, long trousers, a cap and black sandals. She also appeared to have a minor injury to her left cheekbone. Police are now contacting her family to gain insight into her mental state and the possible motive or circumstances behind her actions. The incident has baffled the local community, with many questioning how the woman could have ended up in such a dire situation alone. Authorities are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the incident. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-24

Police Captain Phusit Muangmoo, investigating officer at Khok Samrong Police Station, was notified of the incident at approximately 17:30. The accident occurred along Phahonyothin Road between kilometre markers 183 and 184 in Wang Khon Khwang Subdistrict. Emergency responders arrived to find the victim, identified as Mrs. Supin Chantrat, lying in the road with severe injuries. The driver, Mr. Narongdet, 48, told police he had been driving from Lopburi towards Khok Samrong when the incident occurred. He explained that he saw the elderly woman apparently waiting at the roadside to allow the car in front of him to pass. Assuming she would remain stationary, he continued at speed. However, she began crossing just as his vehicle approached. “It happened so fast. She stepped out suddenly. I didn’t have time to brake or swerve,” he said. Mr. Narongdet did not flee the scene and waited to surrender himself to authorities. Police recorded the scene and took the driver into custody for further questioning. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A Norwegian man has been arrested at the main bus terminal in Surat Thani after allegedly attempting to murder a fellow national with a crossbow in an incident that took place on the island of Koh Samui. The suspect, identified as Mr Elmer, was taken into custody by officers from Surat Thani City Police while trying to flee the province by minivan. His arrest followed the issue of an arrest warrant by Koh Samui Provincial Court (Warrant No. 185/2568, dated 23 June 2025) on charges of attempted murder. The incident occurred on 19 June at a private residence in Koh Samui. According to police, Ms Pia, a Norwegian national and the intended victim, was inside the home along with another man, identified only as Mr Simon and she was watching a film on the living room sofa. Mr Elmer, meanwhile, was in his bedroom, reportedly heavily intoxicated from alcohol. Suddenly, Mr Elmer emerged from his room in a state of rage and began shouting incoherently. He confronted Ms Pia and a heated argument ensued. Fearing for her safety due to his aggressive behaviour, Ms Pia attempted to call the police. As she dialled the emergency number 191, Elmer briefly returned to his room. Moments later, he reappeared wielding a crossbow fitted with a laser sight and aimed it directly at Ms Pia’s head. As she was on the phone with the police, Elmer fired. The bolt struck her mobile phone, which she was holding to her ear, destroying it but sparing her life. Mr Simon tried to intervene but was unable to stop the attack. Following the incident, Elmer fled the scene. A manhunt ensued, leading to his arrest four days later, on 23 June, at the Surat Thani Bus Terminal as he attempted to board transport out of the province. The authorities have praised the swift action of investigating officers, noting that had the phone not absorbed the crossbow bolt, the consequences could have been fatal. Elmer is currently being held in custody and is expected to face prosecution. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-24

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 42-year-old man was killed in a road crash on the morning of 22 June, after his motorcycle clipped the back of a car, causing him to lose control and fall into the path of an oncoming 18-wheeler truck in Chum Saeng district, Nakhon Sawan. Police Lieutenant Colonel Kamron Chandit, deputy investigation officer at Chum Saeng Police Station, received the emergency call around 09:30. The crash occurred on the Chum Saeng–Nakhon Sawan road, within the Thap Krit community market area, Thap Krit Subdistrict. At the scene, officers discovered the body of Mr. Somsak Thimpun, 42, lying lifeless on the road with severe injuries to his head and torso. His Honda motorcycle, registered in Nakhon Sawan, was found wrecked nearby. Rescue workers and a medical team from Chum Saeng Hospital confirmed his death at the scene and transported his body for further examination. CCTV footage revealed that the victim was riding at speed when he struck the rear of a Honda sedan, registration from Nakhon Sawan, causing him to fall and slide into the opposite lane. At that moment, a Hino 18-wheeler truck (registration from Phichit) was travelling in the opposite direction and ran over the motorcyclist, killing him instantly. The car was driven by Mr. Chaowalit, 47, while the truck was operated by Mr. Ubon, 51. Both drivers have been taken in for questioning by police. Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying. One local resident said they heard a loud crash before seeing the lorry dragging the motorcycle along the road, narrowly missing bystanders. “We see him every day,” the witness added, “but no one expected this to happen.” Mr. Niran, the victim’s brother-in-law, said that the deceased had been on his way to open a cooked-to-order food stall with his sister just 100 metres from the crash site. He expressed shock and sadness over the sudden loss but said the family held no resentment. “We would appreciate it if the drivers involved could offer some assistance. He was single and had no family of his own,” he said. Mr. Chaowalit, the car driver, told police he had slowed down behind another vehicle that was preparing to turn and was driving within the speed limit. Mr. Ubon, the truck driver, stated he was travelling at just 40 km/h due to the area being a busy market zone and had no time to react. “It happened in a split second. I hit the brakes but couldn’t stop in time,” he said, adding that he remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities. Police confirmed that both drivers were tested for alcohol and neither had consumed any. The investigation is ongoing, and officers will proceed with legal action as required. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Two Chinese nationals were arrested following a police raid on a residence in the Ram Inthra area of Bangkok, which was being used as a covert illegal factory for manufacturing and repackaging e-cigarettes. Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), led by Pol. Col. Kraiwit Saentaweesuk and Pol. Lt. Col. Kittiphot Khongsungnoen, along with tactical units from the Special Operations Division, conducted the operation at a house located in Soi Panya-Ram Inthra, Bang Chan subdistrict, Khlong Sam Wa district. At the scene, police found two Chinese nationals, Mr. Bin Chao, 35 and Mr. Yin Hai Bin, 44, seated outside a room where vaping devices were actively being assembled. Inside, five Myanmar workers were observed refilling used disposable vape cartridges with new e-liquid, preparing them for resale. Authorities seized 3,200 finished e-cigarettes, a large quantity of refill liquid, and a full set of production equipment. The total value of the confiscated goods is estimated at approximately 1.5 million baht. Investigations revealed that the operation involved reusing spent vape cartridges and devices, refilling them with e-liquid and repackaging them in boxes to appear as new products. These were then distributed for retail, targeting unsuspecting consumers. The suspects have been charged under the law for offences relating to the illegal production and sale of electronic cigarettes. All individuals involved have been taken into custody pending further legal proceedings. Police have reiterated warnings to the public against using or purchasing illicit vaping products, citing significant health risks and the dangers posed by unregulated and improperly handled materials. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 33-year-old man was found dead on the side of Kha Rai Road in Krathum Baen district, Samut Sakhon, shortly after posting a cryptic message on Facebook that read, “This ends the village problem.” The body of the man, known only as “Auan”, was discovered early Sunday morning, 22 June, with severe head injuries and blood covering his face. He was found lying near a shattered beer bottle, with another intact bottle beside him. He was wearing a green long-sleeved t-shirt with the words “Yee Toong Sing” printed on the front, alongside a phone number and a Facebook handle. Police from Krathum Baen Police Station were alerted to the scene after a passing ice delivery driver spotted the body and called emergency services. Officers arrived with forensic investigators, rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and hospital staff from Krathum Baen Hospital. The body was located near a small convenience store and gas shop, not far from the local subdistrict administrative office. A blue Yamaha motorcycle, believed to belong to the deceased, was found parked across the road in front of the shop. Auan’s fatal injuries appear to have been caused by a blunt object striking his head. Authorities have yet to determine the motive or identify any suspects. No eyewitnesses have come forward, and no one has admitted to seeing the incident unfold. Shortly before his death, at around 01:00, the victim posted a photo on Facebook under the handle “Yee Toong Sing.” The image shows him with a young man, arms around each other, beside a roadside with a green beer bottle in view. The caption read: “This ends the village problem.” The Facebook post has since received comments from concerned friends and acquaintances, some of whom appear to have learned of his death through the news. One comment read: “Who’s his relative? Please contact me, he’s been attacked.” Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in an effort to identify the assailant. Meanwhile, the body has been sent to Siriraj Hospital’s forensic unit for a post-mortem examination. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident or the individuals involved to come forward immediately. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-23

The incident occurred on the Sing Buri–Chai Nat Road, at kilometre marker 46+800, in Tambon Thap Ya, In Buri District. Police Lieutenant Colonel Wechayan Hiranyasuwan, deputy investigating officer at In Buri Police Station, received the emergency report and rushed to the scene alongside a medical examiner from In Buri Hospital and personnel from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation. At the scene, a silver Honda Wave motorcycle bearing registration plate from Sing Buri was found mangled and lying in the middle of the road. Nearby, the body of the deceased, later identified as Mr Somchai Klinhom, 79, of 6/1, Moo 1, Tambon Thap Ya, was found severely crushed, indicating he had died instantly. Approximately 100 metres from the point of impact, police located the 18-wheel lorry involved. The white Hino lorry, with vehicle registration from Lopburi and trailer registration from Saraburi, was parked on the left-hand roadside. The driver, Mr Sumet Bunphairoj, 29, of Nong Yai To Subdistrict, Chai Badan District, Lopburi, remained at the scene to meet with police. According to Mr Sumet’s statement, he was driving normally when the motorcycle suddenly emerged from a side road on his left, cutting in very closely. He attempted to brake and swerve to avoid the collision, but due to the size and weight of the vehicle, he was unable to steer clear. The rear wheels of the lorry subsequently ran over the motorcycle and its rider, dragging both along the road. Police conducted an alcohol test on Mr Sumet, which returned a reading of zero. Authorities stated they are proceeding with legal procedures in accordance with the law, as the investigation continues. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-23

Pictures courtesy of Amarin. Three schoolboys, all aged 13, drowned while fishing near a watergate in the Krathum Baen district of Samut Sakhon province. Their lifeless bodies were discovered beneath the surface, in an incident that has left the local community in shock and mourning. The incident occurred near the Ang Thong floodgate at the Pasicharoen Water Delivery and Maintenance Project in Talad Krathum Baen subdistrict. Authorities were alerted at around 16:30 on 21 June and rescue divers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene, accompanied by police and medical personnel from Krathum Baen Hospital. Onlookers gathered along the concrete embankment as divers recovered the body of the first victim, identified as Krit, a Matthayom 1 student at Krathum Baen Wisetsamutkhun School and a member of the school’s football team. A fishing hook was still attached to the waistband of his shorts when his body was found. Rescuers continued to search the murky waters and, just ten minutes later, recovered the remaining two victims, identified as Phong and Phat, also 13-year-old students from Thetsaban Wat Don Kaidee School. The boys were discovered underwater, clinging to one another in a final embrace. Fishing rods and a speargun were found near the embankment. Police collected these items as evidence, though it remains unclear whether they belonged to the victims or had been left by someone else. A local security guard stationed at the floodgate told investigators that he had not seen the boys enter the area. He conducted a routine patrol around 13:00 and found no one present, before leaving for a meal. Later in the afternoon, he returned and noticed fishing gear left unattended. Suspecting something was wrong, he asked his nephew to check if the equipment belonged to a local child. When the boy tried to reel in one of the lines on a rod, a body tangled in the line unexpectedly floated to the surface. He immediately drop the equipment and the security guard contacted the police. The cause of the incident is still unclear. Authorities are awaiting full post-mortem reports from Siriraj Hospital’s forensic institute and plan to interview the victims’ families, who were too grief-stricken to provide statements at the scene. Police believe the incident to be accidental, but are continuing to investigate all possibilities. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-06-23

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Two Thai women have been arrested after attempting to illegally re-enter Thailand by climbing over a barbed-wire fence along the Thai-Cambodian border. The pair reportedly lost all their money gambling in a Cambodian casino and had to pawn their passports, leaving them stranded without proper travel documents. The incident occurred late at night on 21 June, when a patrol unit from the Burapha Task Force, under the Aranyaprathet Special Unit and the 12th Ranger Regiment (Company 1201), was conducting routine surveillance near the permanent border checkpoint at Ban Khlong Luek in Pa Rai Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province. The patrol team spotted two Thai nationals attempting to cross from Cambodia into Thailand through a barbed-wire barrier. The women were detained immediately and subjected to initial questioning. They were identified as Ms. Juthawan, a resident of Bangkok and Ms. Panadda, from Khon Kaen Province. Ms. Juthawan admitted that she had travelled legally to a casino across the border in April 2025 through the Ban Khlong Luek checkpoint, but after losing all her money gambling at “Holiday Casino,” she had to pawn her passport to the casino. Ms. Panadda confessed that she had previously entered Cambodia via a natural, unofficial route in August 2023 and had similarly found herself stranded after losing her job and gambling losses. Both women stated they wished to return to Thailand but lacked travel documents. They agreed to cross back illegally through a natural border route, which ultimately led to their arrest. Authorities have taken both women into custody for further legal proceedings. The Burapha Task Force reminded the public to refrain from using illegal border crossings, citing the risks to personal safety and the importance of maintaining peace and order along the frontier.
