Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 42-year-old man was found dead in his bedroom in Samut Prakan after an apparent suicide, two days after a domestic argument with his wife. The discovery was made when his wife, concerned by his prolonged silence, climbed a power pole to peer into the room and was shocked to find his lifeless body. Police from Mueang Samut Prakan Police Station, along with forensic officers, rescue workers and medical personnel, responded to reports of a deceased individual at a townhouse in the area. Upon arrival, they found the body of Mr. Supakit lying on his back on the bed in a state of early decomposition. A gunshot wound was found on his temple, and a revolver, believed to be a pen gun registered to the deceased, was discovered nearby with a spent casing still in the chamber. According to his 37-year-old wife, the couple had a quarrel over dinner, following a period of frequent disagreements over the past two weeks. She stated that although arguments were not unusual, they typically reconciled soon afterwards. However, when her husband entered his room that night, she later heard a loud noise but assumed he had thrown something in frustration. Concern grew when he failed to leave the room the following day. Their child knocked on the door to ask if he would drive them somewhere, as he usually did, but received no response. It wasn’t until 22 June, 2 days later, that the wife decided to investigate more closely. Unable to gain entry, she climbed a power pole and looked through a window, where she discovered his body. “I didn’t think he would ever do something like this,” she said tearfully. “He went to work every day, he was responsible. I just thought he needed space.” Police have recorded the incident and collected evidence from the scene. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities as they continue their investigation, although early indications point towards suicide. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 28-year-old man has been arrested at a petrol station in Bangkok for illegally transporting and distributing nearly 2,000 disposable e-cigarettes, which he was delivering to customers across the Chokchai area based on online orders. The arrest was made by officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Investigation Division on 21 June at around 16:30. The suspect, Mr. Somchai, was apprehended at a Shell petrol station on Nakniwat Road in Lat Phrao District. Police seized 1,950 disposable e-cigarettes as evidence. Acting on intelligence that an illicit e-cigarette delivery was planned at the location, investigators from the 2nd Investigation Unit of the Metropolitan Police laid in wait. They observed a Toyota Fortuner (registration from Bangkok) pull into the car park, shortly followed by a Mitsubishi Pajero (registration 5 also from Bangkok). Mr. Somchai was seen unloading 20 brown cardboard boxes from the Toyota into the Mitsubishi. Officers approached and identified themselves, then proceeded to inspect the boxes. Inside, they discovered over 1,000 disposable e-cigarettes. Upon questioning, Mr. Somchai confessed to being in possession of the e-cigarettes and claimed he was acting under orders from a man known as “Mr. Chai”, with whom he had communicated via the LINE messaging application. He explained that he had collected the items from a logistics company’s driver and was in the process of delivering them to various drop-off points as directed. He was charged with two serious offences: 1. Violating consumer protection regulations by selling goods banned by the Consumer Protection Board, specifically disposable e-cigarettes and related liquid refills, in breach of Order No. 24/2567. 2. Possessing and distributing prohibited goods, in violation of Section 246 of the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017), for knowingly dealing in items banned from import into the Kingdom of Thailand. Mr. Somchai and the seized goods were handed over to investigators at Chokchai Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities confirmed they are expanding the investigation to identify and apprehend others involved in the broader e-cigarette trafficking network. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-23

Worker Crushed to Death by Crawler Crane in Construction Site Incident Picture courtesy of Khaosod. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A construction worker was killed when he was accidentally crushed beneath a crawler crane while assisting with loading the machine onto a trailer at a worker’s camp in Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. Police and rescue officials were called to the scene around 13:00 on 22 June, by the Nong Kham Police Station following reports of a fatal occurrence. The incident occurred in Moo 4, Bueng subdistrict. Upon arrival, authorities found a large trailer with a crawler-type crane already positioned on the flatbed. One of the victim’s shoes was seen wedged in a gap on the metal ramp at the rear of the trailer. Nearby, the body of a 44-year-old man from Phak Hai district in Ayutthaya was found face-down with extensive injuries. He was identified as a construction worker living at the on-site camp. Colleagues stood nearby in shock and sorrow. According to witnesses, the victim had been guiding the crane operator as the vehicle was driven up the rear ramp of the trailer. One co-worker, who had been eating nearby, turned to see the victim already lying beneath the vehicle’s tracks and ran to alert the driver. However, due to the loud noise of the engine, the driver failed to hear the warnings and continued to move the heavy machine forward, running over the man completely. Another colleague revealed that the crane operator was situated on the left side of the vehicle, while the victim was on the right side, near the ramp. He had been signalling to ensure the tracks aligned correctly with the ramp. It is believed his shoe became caught in a gap, causing him to stumble and fall. The driver reportedly did not see him in time. Normally, workers assisting in such operations either position themselves above the vehicle or remain below on the ground. It is still unclear why the victim was standing directly on the ramp in such a hazardous position. Emergency services later transported the body to Laem Chabang Hospital. Police have launched a full investigation into the incident and will proceed according to legal protocols. The victim’s family has been notified and will conduct funeral rites in due course. Man Arrested for Running Fake Coin-Operated Washing Machine Scam Picture courtesy of CIB. Picture courtesy of CIB. Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly running a fraudulent business that posed as a company installing coin-operated washing machines, cheating victims out of millions. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), through the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), apprehended the suspect, identified only as Mr. Chayaset, at a rented house in Moo 2, Don Kaidee Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon. The arrest was made under a court warrant for fraud. According to the investigation, Mr. Chayaset was the mastermind behind a scheme in which he set up a front company offering washing machine installation services. He allegedly gained the trust of victims by claiming extensive experience and promising fast installations. Once trust was established, he requested deposits for the machines, but ultimately failed to deliver the promised equipment. One victim, a business owner in Pattaya, initially paid a deposit of 300,000 baht. Mr. Chayaset later pressured the victim to transfer the full remaining balance, an additional 900,000 baht, under the pretext of faster delivery. Despite waiting six to seven months, the machines never arrived, resulting in total losses of 1.2 million baht for that individual. Another victim in Phitsanulok was defrauded of 300,000 baht in a similar manner. Police had been tracking his movements for some time and discovered links to another individual named Mr. Suwat, believed to be involved in the operation and previously residing in Udon Thani. Mr. Chayaset had returned to Samut Sakhon where he was eventually arrested. Upon confrontation, officers presented the arrest warrant and informed him of his legal rights. He confessed to being the person named in the warrant and admitted to the charges. It was confirmed this was his first arrest related to the case. Mr. Chayaset was taken into custody and brought to Pattaya Provincial Court for prosecution. Authorities are now expanding the investigation to identify other accomplices and to trace assets obtained through fraudulent means. The operation was carried out under the directive of Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Phuridej, Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, and supervised by senior officers including Police Major General Wittaya Sriprasertphap and Police Colonel Suriyasak Jirawat. Pictures courtesy of Komchadluek. A devastating road crash claimed the lives of a father and his two young children in Chanthaburi province on 22 June, after their pickup truck collided head-on with a 12-wheeled lorry loaded with empty fruit crates. The fatal crash occurred around kilometre markers 82-83 along Route 317, the Chanthaburi-Sa Kaeo Road, in the Khao Daeng area of Soi Dao district. Rescue units from the Sawang Katanyu Foundation rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash with people trapped inside a vehicle. On arrival, emergency responders found a white four-door Toyota pickup truck, registration plate from Chanthaburi, severely damaged from a collision with a red Hino lorry bearing registration from Loei. The lorry was carrying empty plastic fruit baskets. All three occupants of the pickup, a father and his two children, were found deceased inside the wreckage. Rescuers had to use multiple hydraulic tools to cut through the mangled vehicle and retrieve the bodies, a process that took over 30 minutes. The deceased were later identified as Mr. Alongkot aged 35, his son aged 8 and his daughter, aged 4. The lorry driver, Mr. Prayoon aged 42, from Phatthalung province, was uninjured and cooperated with the authorities. He stated that he had been transporting the empty crates from Nakhon Phanom to a fruit depot in Khlung district, Chanthaburi. Preliminary investigations suggest that the pickup truck had been travelling from Pong Nam Ron district towards Wang Sombun in Sa Kaeo province, while the lorry was heading from Sa Kaeo towards central Chanthaburi. The exact circumstances leading to the head-on collision remain under investigation. Police are currently working to determine the cause of the crash. Weather and road conditions at the time have not been ruled out as contributing factors. Adapted by Asean Now from Khomchadluek 2025-06-23

Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A sudden storm caused a fishing boat to capsize in a reservoir in Chachoengsao province on the afternoon of 21 June, claiming the life of a 40-year-old man while his younger brother miraculously survived. The incident occurred at approximately 16:30, at the Khlong Siyad Reservoir in Moo 2, Tha Takiap subdistrict, Tha Takiap district, Chachoengsao. Local authorities, including district officials and rescue volunteers from Phanom and community-based civil defence teams, were immediately dispatched to the scene after villagers reported a boat had overturned. Upon arrival, rescue personnel launched boats to search the reservoir. Initial reports confirmed that one man, identified as Mr. Worakrit, had managed to swim ashore, while his brother, Mr. Somphot aged 40, had gone missing beneath the water. According to Mr. Worakrit, both men had travelled from Sri Maha Pho district in Prachinburi province for a day of fishing at the reservoir. On their way back to shore, they were caught in a sudden downpour accompanied by strong winds and heavy waves that overturned their small fishing boat. “I threw a water container to my brother so he could hold onto it,” Worakrit recounted. “I grabbed another one and managed to make it to shore. But he didn’t follow. I called out for help from people fishing along the banks.” At approximately 17:40, rescue teams recovered Mr. Somphot’s body floating near the reservoir’s edge, about 500 metres from the site of the capsize. Authorities have urged the public to monitor weather forecasts closely before venturing out onto bodies of water. Adapted by Asean Now from Workpoint 2025-06-23

Pictures courtesy of ข่าวพัทยา A fire scare at Pattaya Avenue Shopping Mall on Second Road prompted a swift response from emergency services on the morning of 22 June. Fortunately, the situation was quickly brought under control and no injuries were reported. At approximately 08:30, smoke was detected within the premises of MeSpace Self Storage, a self-storage service provider that offers round-the-clock access and comprises over 200 storage units within the mall. Pattaya municipal fire crews and local enforcement officers were immediately deployed to the scene to assess and manage the situation. The fire was quickly extinguished, but PPV (positive pressure ventilation) fans and tubing had to be used to clear smoke from several areas and levels. According to an official statement released by Pattaya Avenue management, the mall’s internal safety team promptly took control of the situation. The smoke was effectively contained, and ventilation measures were implemented to clear the affected areas. Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently ongoing. While certain zones within the mall had to be temporarily closed for safety checks and ventilation, the majority of the shopping centre remained able to open to the public and continue to operate as normal. A statement from The Avenue said; “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers for their understanding,” the management said. Authorities are working to identify the exact cause of the incident. Adapted by Asean Now from ข่าวพัทยา 2025-06-23

The incident took place on the Bo Thong–Wang Ri Road in Bo Thong district, Chonburi province. Police and rescue services were alerted to the scene at approximately 18:40 on 21 June and arrived with medical personnel from Bo Thong Hospital. Upon arrival, authorities found an Isuzu pickup truck, registration from Chonburi, overturned. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. He had suffered a severe head injury and a broken left arm. Nearby, the other vehicle involved, a BYD sedan, registration fromNakhon Ratchasima, was found with its front end buried in roadside undergrowth after also veering off the road. The driver of the sedan sustained a broken left index finger, back pain and multiple abrasions. He was rushed to Bo Thong Hospital for treatment. UPDATE Ex-Navy Officer with Influential Surname Surrenders After Fatal Shooting of Neighbour Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A former navy officer with a well-known surname has surrendered to police after fatally shooting a neighbour and injuring another in a row over a running car engine. The suspect, 67-year-old Mr. Sarit Israngkun Na Ayutthaya, was arrested after intense pressure from authorities and days of hiding in the forest. The incident occurred on 20 June in Muang District, Chumphon Province. Mr. Sarit allegedly used a .22 calibre rifle to shoot his neighbours , 54-year-old Ms. Jirawan, who later died from her injuries and her husband, 53-year-old Mr. Surapoj, who survived. The couple had been living in the same row of rented rooms as the suspect. According to police, the fatal confrontation followed a long-standing dispute. Mr. Sarit was reportedly enraged by the couple’s habit of leaving their vehicle engine running for extended periods, with the exhaust fumes entering his living space. Despite several warnings, the couple continued the practice, leading to repeated verbal altercations. On the morning of the incident, Mr. Sarit was preparing local fruit, including durians, mangosteens, and sataw beans, to visit his children. While sweeping his room, Mr. Surapoj approached him and allegedly taunted him, claiming local roots and mocking Mr. Sarit’s past dismissal from work. Incensed, Mr. Sarit retrieved a rifle from his room and shot Mr. Surapoj once. When Ms. Jirawan emerged and shouted, “Why did you shoot my husband? Why don’t you shoot me instead?”, Mr. Sarit fired a shot at her as well. After the shooting, he fled in a pickup truck, driving aimlessly before returning to a former workplace along Phetkasem Road. He asked a former subordinate to drive him to a bus station, intending to flee to Bangkok. However, he changed his mind and decided to head towards the district of Lang Suan. While waiting for transport, he hid in a local banana plantation where he used a fertiliser sack for warmth and insect protection, a technique he claimed to have learned during his navy training. Eventually, heavy rain, hunger and increasing police presence forced him out of hiding. After being spotted by a former colleague near a pomelo orchard, who fled without speaking to him, Mr. Sarit realised the police would soon close in. At 03:00 he walked down from the hills to a local restaurant, where friends and former colleagues urged him to surrender. He agreed, stating he acted out of a sudden surge of emotion. Police arrested him in Moo 8, Tha Kham Subdistrict, Ta Sae District, near his former workplace. He was charged with murder, attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm in a public area. The suspect has admitted to the crime and is now in custody awaiting prosecution. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have promised a full legal response, regardless of the suspect’s former military background or prominent family name. Picture courtesy of Amarin. A heart-breaking incident has struck a rural community in Sakon Nakhon, after a grandmother and her twin granddaughters drowned in a stream near their rice field shortly after finishing work in the paddy. Emergency services were called to a location near Ban Na Duea, Na Kaeo subdistrict, Phon Na Kaeo district, Sakon Nakhon province, at approximately 15:15 on 21 June. Upon arrival, rescue teams attempted CPR but were unable to revive any of the three victims. The deceased have been identified as Mrs. Thongyun, 63 and her 11-year-old twin granddaughters. The incident occurred near a field hut on the western edge of the village, next to a stream swollen by recent rainfall. According to Mr. Saentawee, Mrs. Thongyun’s husband, he had briefly left the group to buy noodles from the village. During that time, his wife and the two girls had finished planting rice and are believed to have gone to the nearby stream to clean themselves. When he returned, he found their sandals by the water’s edge but no sign of them. Authorities suspect that one or more of the victims may have slipped or been pulled under by the current. The stream, like many in the area, had become deceptively deep and fast-moving following several days of heavy rain. Post-mortem examinations confirmed death by drowning, and no signs of foul play were found. The family has chosen not to pursue further investigation, accepting the cause of death as accidental. The bodies have been released for traditional funeral rites. Officials are urging the public to exercise caution when working or washing near natural water sources during the rainy season. Streams may appear safe but can quickly become hazardous due to hidden depths, slippery banks and fast-moving water. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-06-23

Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 12-year-old boy lost his life after being struck and run over by an lorry and trailer, while crossing a road on his bicycle in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. His friend, who was riding pillion, escaped serious injury but was left in a state of shock. Police from Nakhon Luang Station, led by Pol. Sub-Lt. Rakchat Prasoppol, responded to the scene of the fatal collision on the Bang Rakam–Bo Phong Road in Moo 4, Bang Rakam subdistrict, following reports of a cyclist being fatally hit by a lorry. At the scene, officers found a blue bicycle crushed under the rear wheels of a parked lorry. The main vehicle bore registration from Ayutthaya. Lying near the rear right wheel was the lifeless body of the young cyclist. His companion, also aged 12, was unharmed but visibly distressed. Initial investigations revealed that the two boys had been cycling from their nearby housing estate to a convenience store located across the road. Believing it was safe to cross while vehicles were stopped at a red light, they attempted to ride across the two-lane road. A lorry moved forward as its light turned green, striking the bicycle. The rider was killed instantly after being dragged under the rear wheels. The lorry driver stated he had the green light and was proceeding lawfully when the boys suddenly emerged from a side road. He said he tried to swerve, nearly crashing into a nearby shop in the process, but was unable to avoid the collision. Police have taken the driver in for further questioning and are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to determine the precise cause of the incident. The body of the young victim has been sent for examination, and arrangements are being made to return him to his family for funeral rites. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-23

Picture courtesy of ปลอดภัย สามหก A 54-year-old Dutch national was found dead in a hotel room in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya on the afternoon of 22 June, with blood discovered in the bathtub and on the bed. Authorities are investigating the cause of death and have not ruled out foul play. Police were called to a hotel in the Hua Ro subdistrict at around 13:00, after a housekeeper unlocked room 319 and discovered the man lying unresponsive beside the bed. He was wearing only a pair of shorts and was found lying on his back with visible blood stains on the mattress. A bathtub in the room was also found partially filled with bloody water. The deceased has been identified as Mr. Ronald Delft, a Dutch citizen who had been staying at the hotel for three days. He was due to check out at midday, but when he failed to do so, the cleaner used a spare key to enter the room and made the grim discovery. Preliminary examinations revealed a deep wound on Mr. Delft’s left wrist, leading investigators to estimate that he had been dead for approximately six to seven hours before being found. Inside the room, police found bottles of liquor and soft drinks, as well as a handwritten note in English, which reportedly included contact details for his brother and the Dutch Embassy. The body was transported to Thammasat University Hospital for an autopsy. According to police, Mr. Delft had checked in alone and no signs of other guests entering the room have been identified so far. While early indications suggest the possibility of suicide, officers stressed that they have not ruled out homicide and are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are working to contact the deceased’s family and the Dutch Embassy to arrange for the repatriation of the body and the necessary religious rites. The investigation remains ongoing.
