  2. Picture courtesy of Khoasod During the late afternoon of September 8, 2024, a 33-year-old man was rescued after being trapped in an elevator for nearly two hours due to a power outage caused by heavy rainfall. The incident occurred at a five-story apartment building in Soi Krom Tidin 4, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. At 17:55, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Unit in Pattaya received a distress call regarding a man stuck in an elevator. Rescue volunteers, equipped with tools to pry open the elevator doors, rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found local residents and apartment staff attempting to force the doors open on the fourth floor, where the man had been trapped since the power outage. The elevator doors were not completely sealed, allowing for a fan to be placed to help with ventilation. The man, who was drenched in sweat after nearly two hours inside, was eventually freed without injury. The man, who lives on the fourth floor, recounted the incident. He explained that just as he pressed the button to go downstairs, heavy rain caused the power to go out, leaving him stuck in the elevator. Fortunately, a passerby heard his cries for help and alerted the rescue team, who arrived in time to extract him safely. A short video of the scene as the rescue team arrive is below. -- 2024-09-09 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe RPReplay_Final1725831012.mp4

  4. Picture of the power line down. Heavy rain and strong winds swept through the city of Pattaya, on the afternoon of September 8, causing scaffolding at a construction site to collapse. The falling scaffolding brought down high-voltage power lines and caused an electrical pole to break, obstructing the road and causing a power outage in the area. The incident took place at a construction site near Pattaya Klang Road, on a road off Soi Arunothai, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District. The construction site is for a new seven-story hotel, with scaffolding surrounding the building. Due to the intense wind, the scaffolding was ripped from the building and collapsed, leaving some sections hanging precariously in the wind, while metal and plastic sheets from the structure fell onto the road below. Local authorities from Pattaya’s Special Affairs Department and police, responded to the scene, closing both lanes of the road to ensure public safety. Pattaya’s electrical department was also notified to inspect and repair the downed power lines, while relevant agencies were called in to clear the road and restore normalcy. Luckily no injuries were reported. Authorities continue to investigate the incident. -- 2024-09-09 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe
  5. There are no electrical cables involved in that fire, plus that fire truck, in the picture, is fitted with a Rosenbauer UHPS (ultra high pressure system) that uses atomised water at a pressure of 100 bar, with a flow rate of 38 L/min. Highly controllable water spray, designed to be safely used in that situation, when there is a safe distance between electrical cables and communication cables. The nozzle is also rubber coated for added safety, plus you notice full fire kit, with insulated firefighting boots.
  6. Why? Read the post it was a communication cable, standard practice, if you are trained and know what you doing. The plastic box is the communication cables junction, the power cable are well above that.
  7. Try reading the OP, it was communication cables attached to a electrical pole. Then it may help you making embarrassing comments.
  8. UPDATE Tragic Death of Farmer in Bangkok: No Lynching Involved, Police Clarify Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A farmer from Chachoengsao driving an agricultural vehicle into Bangkok to see his family died under suspicious circumstances after a police chase on September 7, raising questions about the cause of his death. Initial rumors suggested that the man had been lynched, but police have denied these claims. The incident occurred late at night when local residents and police officers from Pathumwan district attempted to stop a man identified as Banchachai, who appeared to be intoxicated and driving recklessly in an "e-tak," a four-wheeled agricultural vehicle. The man had collided with several civilian vehicles in the Pathumwan and Huamark areas. As police attempted to control the situation, the man collapsed and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Pathumwan police officers report that they fired at the tyres of the vehicle in an attempt to stop it. When they apprehended Banchachai, they found no personal identification but discovered methamphetamine pills and a bag of crystal meth, along with drug paraphernalia. He lost consciousness shortly after his arrest and passed away while en route to the hospital. The exact cause of death remains under investigation. Despite speculation of lynching, rescue workers who were on the scene reported no signs of physical assault on the deceased. Pol. Col. Pornthawee Somwong, the Huamark police chief, confirmed that the man was not a theft suspect and had driven from Chachoengsao to visit family in Bangkok. He also stated that there was no evidence of mob violence during the arrest, and the case is still under review, with CCTV footage being analyzed and witnesses questioned. Authorities are also awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. Banchachai's family revealed that he had driven the vehicle from Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao, to visit his wife and children in Huamark. The family collected his body from the Police General Hospital’s forensic unit and held a funeral in accordance with Islamic traditions in Bang Nam Priao. They expressed concerns over the unclear cause of death and called for further explanation from the police. -- 2024-09-08 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe

  19. Picture courtesy of Thai Rath. In the early hours of September 7th, chaos unfolded in the heart of Bangkok when a man in his 40s to 50s, allegedly high on drugs, stole a tractor (locally known as an “e-taek”) and led a wild pursuit through the city. The incident, which began near the Makkasan railway site, ended tragically after the suspect was apprehended and beaten by an angry mob. The drama started around 00:40, when Pol. L/Cpl. Prommin Ritchaisong, a patrol officer from Pathumwan Police Station, was off duty and heading back to his residence in Makkasan. As he passed the Siam Hotel on Phetchaburi Road, he encountered a group of local residents chasing an erratically driving tractor. The residents informed him that the suspect had stolen the vehicle from a construction site and was driving dangerously under the influence of drugs. Without hesitation, Prommin joined the pursuit on his motorcycle, attempting to signal the man to stop. Despite his warnings, the suspect sped up, weaving dangerously across the road. The pursuit intensified as they neared the Saen Saeb canal bridge, where Prommin, seeing an opportunity, fired two shots at the tractor's rear tire, causing it to lose control. Even with a blown tire, the suspect continued driving recklessly, standing and dancing erratically on the vehicle as he drove. A crowd of more than 10 locals, both in cars and on motorcycles, followed closely behind. The chase continued to Khlong Tan intersection, where the tractor lost further control, veering onto the median near the Airport Rail Link station on Ramkhamhaeng Road. Despite the vehicle's damage, the man attempted to flee on foot, running in the opposite direction of traffic. He was soon caught by a furious group of locals, who surrounded him and severely beat him. Pol. L/Cpl. Prommin arrived moments later, handcuffing the unconscious man and calling for medical assistance. The suspect was rushed to Panya Hospital, but doctors later pronounced him dead at 01:35 due to severe injuries from the mob beating. A search of the tractor revealed nine methamphetamine pills and a small amount of crystal meth, but no identification documents were found. Authorities have yet to identify the deceased, as no family members have come forward, and no one has claimed ownership of the stolen tractor. Lt. Damrongsak Jaisawang, the deputy investigation officer from Hua Mak Police Station, confirmed that the body has been sent to the Police General Hospital for a detailed autopsy. The incident has raised concerns over mob justice, with the police now focusing on identifying the individuals involved in the beating. CCTV footage will be reviewed to track down the participants. -- 2024-09-08 Get the ASEAN NOW daily NEWSLETTER - Click HERE to subscribe
