Rayong Province Company A team was mobilized to control the situation immediately after the incident according to the emergency response plan. By separating the system and stop various activities within the factory according to safety procedures. Currently, the preliminary cause is being discovered. We were informed that 4 people were injured and were taken to the hospital and are under medical care. This incident had no impact on the community or environment. Pyrolysis gasoline is a substance that may affect health at a low level. 14.10: Rayong Provincial Government has declaration of state of emergency level 2 for Nong Fab community, and Takuan-Ao Pradu community.

I would hope that the containment bund will take the amount leaking. The tank is in its own bund area, so responders can now attack the burning surface of the fuel. Providing enough responders and equipment are in place, they should still prevent this spreading to other tanks, especially the gas spheres.
-
This is the smoke travel direction from the fire, from the Environmental Monitoring and Control Centre.
-
Evacuation distance for these tanks should be 800 m, but the responders have probably doubled that, as a safety margin, given additional surrounding hazards. Think the fire teams will be happy to contain this to the original tank until it has burnt off all the fuel in that tank.
-
I would hope that responders can contain the fire to the tank of origin. These tanks seem to meet the required separation and provided the fixed fire protection systems have not been damaged, effective cooling should prevent horizontal fire/heat spread. It is a fixed roof tank, so getting to the burning surface of the fire is difficult, but the tanks appear to have fixed firefighting injection systems installed. The company should be trying to empty as much of the fuel from the tank, that is safely possible, hence reducing the amount of fuel available to burn. Another hazard is the possible structure collapse of the tank walls and filling the containment bunds with burning fuel. RPReplay_Final1715239971.mov

Update report at 13.40 states the situation is currently deemed very serious, and fixed systems are struggling to contain. RPReplay_Final1715237935.mov

The update you posted above, also refers to an explosion in a naphtha storage tank at Map Ta Phut Industrial Port in 2021 that caused 3 deaths and 2 serious injuries, which occurred when the tank was being clean. That tank was very close to this incident, see picture below.

13.00, reported re-ignition of the tank and the fire is burning again, at Map Ta Phut Tank Terminal Company Limited in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong.
-
12.50, reported that the fire has been contained, using fixed firefighting protection systems, installed at the tanks. Inspection ongoing to check fire is fully extinguished and extent of damage.
-
Currently being reported there are least 3 injuries. Each tank has its own fire extinguishing system and around the bunds there is a water cooling system to prevent heat/fire spread.

The term security officer, seems to be lost in translation, as Kuwait Times identified the person as air marshal. Each country will have it’s own policies on using air marshals, and which flights they are on, is mostly random or selected on intelligence received. They are not on every flight. UK air marshals are normally armed, I was told a few years ago, not sure if that has changed.

Gasping For Air: Thai Passengers React to Engine Mishap

About average for the region. Nok Air fleet has an average age of 10 years, slightly older than Thai Airways, but younger than Thai Air Asia and a lot younger than Bangkok Airways. Only 1 plane was in service with Ryanair previously and that was over 10 years ago. People may not like Ryanair, but their safety record is impressive. Ryanair has never had a fatal crash In its 37 years of operations and only 13 reported incidents, the last being in 2019, which includes some minor taxiway collisions with other planes. AirlineRatings.com regularly reviews the safety of the world's airline companies and Ryanair has a safety rating of 7 out of 7. Nok Air has a rating of 5 out of 7. https://www.airlineratings.com/ratings/nok-air/ https://www.airlineratings.com/ratings/ryanair/ -
Family Demands 10m Baht Following Fatal Fall in Bangkok
Georgealbert replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Updated report from Thai media, “The family of the 59-year-old man who died after falling into a 15-meter-deep hole, filed a police complaint against both the MEA and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The younger brother of the deceased, Kamphon, aged 57, stated that initially, the family intended to file a complaint against the contractor responsible for placing a 1cm thick, temporary plywood cover over the opening, but since the MEA claimed direct responsibility for the maintenance project, the family opted to file the complaint against the MEA and the BMA instead. He further said that the family met with Thitiwut Ngernkhlai, the MEA's deputy governor, during his brother's funeral, and they have scheduled a discussion regarding compensation within the next two days. The family is seeking 10 million baht in damages, citing concerns for his 64-year-old sister, who suffers from diabetes and previously resided with his now-deceased brother, but will now have to live alone.“ -
Gasping For Air: Thai Passengers React to Engine Mishap

The problem is that the 737 is a very old design aircraft and Boeing maybe should have move away from it, sometime ago. There have been 181, Boeing 737 hull-losses, including 5 hijackings/bombings/missile attacks and 7 ground accidents. That may sound high but remember that over 10,000 Boeing 737's have been built since 1967. The 737 Max has been involved in 3 incidents. Max 8 crashes in 2018 & 2019, which 181 & 157 lives were lost. Max 9 door incident 2024. http://www.b737.org.uk/accident_reports.htm -

Really, are you watching the same videos as me? If you think these people are having “a deeply distressing or disturbing experience”, I hate to think how you would react in a real emergency. Bye and have a good day, these people had nothing more than an uncomfortable experience. -

I think you are almost certainly right. This is a minor incident, which many seem to have blown out of all proportions. -
Unexplained Death in Thorny Forest Shakes Up Buriram Village
Georgealbert replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
As I said before, it is difficult to comment without seeing the full extent of the head burning/damage, and how long it had been exposed to the fire. “Interpreting patterns of injuries in victims of fire-related deaths can pose challenges for forensic investigators, as there maybe thermal distortion and fragmentation of soft and skeletal tissues, while heat can degrade thin cranial structures.” So the skills, knowledge and quality’s of the investigators and pathologist, will determine the final findings. Link to two, of the many, research papers into this subject. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15171155/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10445669/#ref4 -

Think yours and theirs, idea of being traumatised is very different from mine. This was so minor, it is not even a reportable aviation incident, just a few drama queens whining on Tik Tok, about getting hot and delayed. The plane was never in danger, it made no attempt to take off, and at worse the start up problem occurred after being pushed back, and had to wait to be moved back to a gate, to let the passengers off. Without engines, APU and ground cooling connection, the aircraft had no air conditioning.
