  1. Think there is a big difference between international nuclear energy regulations/inspections, and the back street unregulated chemical waste factories. Thailand has been doing nuclear research for many years. Originally the utilisation of nuclear energy in Thailand was under the regulation by the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) For more than 60 years, the Office of Atoms for Peace laid the foundation for the research and development on nuclear energy in Thailand, until the issuance of the Royal Decree establish the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology or TINT in 2006. , As a result of this TINT is responsible for nuclear research and development, OAP plays the role of authority to regulate the utilisation of nuclear and radiation in Thailand. The first Thai research reactor when critical on 27 October 1962 and was operated until 1977. https://www.tint.or.th/en/nuclear/Research Reactor Thai nuclear research reactor at Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology.
  2. Thai media reported. “May 2, 2024, Mr. Chai Watcharong, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Mr. Settha Thaweesin, Prime Minister, ordered all units to support fire extinguishing and alleviate the fire situation at the chemical warehouse in the area of Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, including checking for chemical residues and evacuate nearby people. He ordered the provincial governor to be the team leader and help take care of the people. A spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office revealed that the Prime Minister had given him a work plan. Divide into teams to solve the situation, extinguish fires, spray water to absorb chemicals, check for chemical residue and provide assistance to nearby people. While at 10:00 a.m. on the same day, Mr. Niwat Rungsakhon, Governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province went to the area to closely monitor the situation on the 2nd day, ordering to check the weather conditions and using drones to measure the temperature in the area. And to control the situation as quickly as possible and coordinate with the Royal Irrigation Department to request opening of drainage to disaster relief officials in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Responders are using remote fire truck to pump water. and a 90 meter ladder truck to spray from the top down on to the fires in warehouse 4-5,. There are many types of chemicals inside the warehouse. and it contains concentrated corrosive substances, which is making it difficult for officials on the ground level. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and there was found to be 35 people evacuated, 17 sent home, and 18 sent to nearby hospitals, Tha Ruea Hospital 8, Uthai Hospital 3, and Somdet Phra Sangkharat Hospital 7.”

  4. There was also an unrelated fire in Ayutthaya, on 30 April. Fire occurred at a latex mattress factory in Bang Sai District, Ayutthaya., with it spreading throughout the factory. Reported loss/damages of 40 million baht. Been a few large, factories fires in the last week.
  5. “The fire at an unlicensed factory in Ayutthaya's Phachi District, which illegally stored industrial waste, was intentionally started to cover up evidence of wrongdoing, said Jullapong Thaveesri, the director-general of the Department of Industrial Works. Jullapong said the factory operated without a license and had been illegally storing 4,000 tonnes of industrial waste, including spent hydrochloric acid and other dangerous chemicals, in five warehouses. The same factory had previously caught fire on February 29 before the recent incident, which started around 18:00 yesterday and was extinguished around 02:00 last night. Authorities suspect that the fire was started by incendiary devices. These devices are made of plastic container, with a cement bottom containing gasoline, with a fuse consisting of a firecracker attached to incense sticks. Additionally, a bottle containing aluminium powder was found inside one of the burnt-down warehouses, which could enhance the effectiveness of incendiary devices“ Also seems that this fire may be linked to the incident in Rayong. “On 23 April 2024 after the fire incident at a chemical factory in Rayong, Ms. Pimpattra Wichaikul, Minister of Industry, mentioned that it might be connected to the factory where a previous fire occurred in Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. When asked about the connection between the two fires, and whether or not it was the destruction of evidence. Ms. Pimphattra stated that the two were linked in the matter of the factory owner and the possible burning to destroy evidence, but in this matter, it is better to wait for the conclusion from the police.”
  6. Seems there is another fire, which maybe linked to the same company. 7. Sorry but are you sure on that, the UK police have strict policies on testing and the machines are calibrated to ensure the results pass legal requirements in court. “The road side breath test is a screening test that is carried out in order to provide an indication as to whether the proportion of alcohol in a persons system is likely to exceed the maximum prescribed legal limit. If a person fails the preliminary road side breath test, they will be arrested and taken to the police station in order to provide an evidential specimen. The evidential breath testing machine at the police station is much more accurate and it may be possible, in certain circumstances, that readings from an evidential breath testing machine may prove that the alcohol in a persons system does not exceed the maximum prescribed legal limit, despite the fact a preliminary road side breath test indicated that this may not be the case. This is especially true if the time between providing a preliminary breath test and an evidential specimen is considerable or the accused was only fractionally over the limit at the time of the road side breath test. In scenarios like this where a person provides an evidential breath specimen that proves the alcohol in their system does not exceed the maximum prescribed legal limit, despite failing a road side breath test, no charges will usually be brought against them.” https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/rs/road-safety/alcohol-drug-driving/ Edit - posted at the same time as @richard_smith237
  8. Seems there is another Win Process factory in the Rayong area. Inspectors found the business has closed, but have left chemicals stored in the warehouse. Rayong Province Industrial Officers, went to the factory in Huai Pong Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, fearing a repeat of the fire like the factory in Ban Khai District. Inspection found metal tanks containing chemicals. and various machinery, plus cardboard boxes, scrap paper, plastic and metal drums, on wooden pallets storing chemicals, all similar to the factory where the fire occurred.
  9. The problem for booking companies, is if the airline changes its flight/schedules or aircraft type. What happens if the airline changes the plane on the day, due to delayed flights or maintenance issue, most insurance companies will not offer a refund in this case. How many people are able to identify the type of aircraft they are flying, without looking at the safety leaflet in the seat? See picture below. The Boeing engineer that got off a flight was Ed Pierson, and his issue was with just the Max aircraft. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/02/26/former-boeing-employee-speaks-out-00142948 This was his recent senate hearing statement, last month. https://www.hsgac.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/Pierson-Testimony-24.04.17.pdf Do not disagree about Boeing reputation, but people have short memories, and airlines will continue to buy Boeing, as the market is dominated by Boeing and Airbus, and neither company can supply the current, yet future demands on there own. https://flightplan.forecastinternational.com/2024/02/15/airbus-and-boeing-report-january-2024-commercial-aircraft-orders-and-deliveries/ Also do not expect the Chinese made Comac C919s, to offer any serious competition, this decade, as it has not even started the certification process to fly outside of China yet. https://aviationweek.com/air-transport/airlines-lessors/china-southern-airlines-joins-c919-club-100-aircraft-order#:~:text=China Southern Airlines has placed,in the Extended Range variant.
  10. So days after the news of offering non-reclinable seats in business class and compensating 5,500 for the ‘inconvenience’ in the 6-hour flight, the airline’s Board of Director has come out to share data which shows that Thai is currently the world’s highest profit margin making airline, as Thai is reportedly charging the highest margin on its ticket sales among all airlines. This below was posted by Piyasvasti Amranaf who is an independent director of the airline.
  11. Whistleblower Josh Dean of Boeing supplier Spirit Aerosystems dies of sudden illness. “Spirit fired Dean in April 2023, and he had filed a complaint with the Department of Labor alleging this was in retaliation for raising concerns related to aviation safety. Parsons said Dean became ill and went to hospital because he was having trouble breathing just over two weeks ago. He was intubated and developed pneumonia and then a serious bacterial infection, Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, or MRSA.” https://archive.is/zOqdj Before the conspiracies, remember. In the case of John Barnett, the Boeing whistleblower, his testimony he was giving at the time of his death, was his appeal for his previously rejected defamation lawsuit against Boeing, and it was not related to any of his whistleblowing material. His testimony did not even claim to have new information, and his last testimony to Congress had concluded in 2019 and resulted in new FAA mandates which were implemented the same year at Boeings 787 facility. Josh Dean, died of a common MRSA infection he got at a hospital, which many will survive, but not uncommon to die from it.
  12. Here is an example of what the lack of a spark arrestor can cause in a hazardous environment. A fire at Thai Oil, 1999, was caused when an employee left a valve open allowing a storage tank to overflow. A security guard detected a strong smell and notified the shift control who sent two operators to investigate. They drove to investigate in a car, not fitted with a spark arrestor and bang, the explosion was so big that it was heard and shook buildings in Pattaya about 20kms away. The fire spread from one tank to 4 others before it was contained and extinguished. There were 8 fatalities and 13 hospitalised with serious injuries. https://www.scribd.com/presentation/491695611/ADIS-P-4-1-03-7-Thai-Oil-Refinery-Explosion-1999-Aug-2017-15
  13. Fires at these types of facilities are always going to be difficult to extinguish, due to the fire burrowing in the paper stacks and becoming very deep seated. Responders will require extensive mechanical and manual overhaul of the burning piles, by removing the burning/smouldering stacks from the fire area, so the individual bales can then be broken apart and extinguished with water. Firefighting water, preventing fire spread, will also compound the difficulty in removing the stacks from the fire areas, as the baled paper absorbs significant amounts of water/ moisture and greatly increase the weight of the stacks, making both overhaul difficult/hazardous and also increase the risk of the stacks collapsing. Would not be surprised if this fire takes a week or more to extinguish and will probably cause a total loss or extensive damage to the site.
  14. 55555 So all the different links that you have been provided are wrong or false? But you provide no links, nothing and insist only you are correct. It is easy for you to prove yourself right, post the official documents , you claim, that shows the Nationality Act (no4) 2551 and the Thai constitution 2017, are different, from what has been posted.
  15. So easy answer, post those documents you speak of, then you can prove us, the lawyers, legal sites all wrong. Bye, have a good evening, as I will.
  16. Sorry, I have no idea what you are expecting. The official documents are in Thai language, There will be no official English language version. If you follow my earlier link you can read translated versions of all the sections of the latest Nationality Act,. The 1992 act has been amended. You need to read Nationality Act (No. 4) B.E. 2551). The guidance was given by a legal company, I can see no reason why they would provide flse information, on this subject. I am not a lawyer, so I am out of this debate, as I have I believe posted credible links https://asean.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Doc-21_Thailand187.pdf
  17. Fully agree, think they spent so much time planning how to safety contain/package the waste, transport routes, hazmat provisions, PPE, monitoring procedures, etc. that it was overlooked what would happen at the final waste site, as this was an established site, which deals with waste daily. Should be easy to rectify, using correct/suitable equipment.
  18. Found this quote, from a legal site on Thailand Nationality Act. Not a lawyer, so not going to debate, but can not see why a legal company would promote false information. “A child of a Thai and foreign parent can have both nationalities as of birth (if the other nationality law permits the same). In Thai the child would be called a luk khreung (half child ลูกครึ่ง). A reference to being of a mixed race, or mixed cultural or national heritage. At the age of 18 or 20 (Thai legal age of majority) they do not need to choose between their nationalities according to Thai law. If the other country’s law is similar then you don’t have to worry, but don’t forget dual nationality relates to two nationality laws. Thus for Thailand they can keep both nationalities. Before 01 March 1992 they did need to chose in their 20th year, but no longer so. However, these new adults are still able to choose themselves if they want to do voluntarily renounce the Thai nationality (Section 14). Before 1992 there was an extra clause which meant that if you didn’t choose you would loose… your Thai nationality. This is not the case today. In addition, the new military government’s Thai constitution of 2017 does give these youngsters some extra protection by stating in section 39 “revocation of Thai nationality from anyone born Thai shall be prohibited”” Translation of 2017 constitution attached. https://habsburg-legal-services.com/thailand-nationality-act/ https://tatanegara.ui.ac.id/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/The-Constitution-of-The-Kingdom-of-Thailand-English_1-57.pdf
  19. Yes, the first overnight convoy reached Tak, but the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry ordered a temporary suspension after a problem occurred while taking a bag from the vehicle to the waiting warehouse. A chain on the backhoe broke, allowing a bag to fall back into the truck and split open. They are the process of amending the guidelines and adjusting a new plans for safety. Video from PBS news of the chain breaking. RPReplay_Final1714481521.mov
  20. The fire was reported extinguished just after 17.00, with the damage being assessed. Footage of Bangkok Fire Service at the incident. RPReplay_Final1714480325.mov
  21. If he had a passport before, there must be a Thai birth certificate and Thai nationality. To lose nationality, the applicable laws are contained in Thailand’s Nationality Act B.E. 2508., Chapter 2: Loss of Thai Nationality, and would require an order for the revocation of that Thai nationality. https://library.siam-legal.com/thai-law/nationality-act-loss-of-thai-nationality-sections-13-22/
  22. Seems not that large of a fire, just someone burning their fields at the wrong place, the wrong time and in the wrong conditions, given the current heatwave. Someone will get a slap on the wrist, fined, and wait until it happens again.
  23. Fully agree with @impulse there is a difference between medical and industrial oxygen, be careful you are not supplied the wrong type. https://jhfoster.com/automation-blogs/what-is-the-difference-between-medical-oxygen-industrial-oxygen/
  24. Here are some pictures from the transport convoy, last night, including the hazmat response teams from Bangkok Fire and Rescue, and the Department of Pollution Control. This seems to be well planned , and was rehearsed prior to yesterday, and involved many relevant agencies.
  25. This thread was about Thai Airways retiring its 747 aircraft, it has used successfully since the first plane was delivered in 1979. Thai Airways used the Boeing 747-400 for both passengers and cargo, and also operated the older variants 747-300 and 747-200. Some seem to want to turn the thread, into an anti Boeing rant, but there are a few other threads going already, with lots of details, about the current Boeing situation. So to if anyone want to understand aviation safety, attached is the latest annual safety analysis issued by both Boeing and Airbus, based on the data. https://accidentstats.airbus.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/20230873_A-Statistical-analysis-of-commercial-aviation-accidents-2024-version.pdf https://www.boeing.com/content/dam/boeing/boeingdotcom/company/about_bca/pdf/statsum.pdf
