  1. Dr. Roy at the Rutnin Eye Hospital Thai Doctor who trained to be a Doctor in America, speaks with an American accent and really knows his stuff. Highly recommended

  2. I recently needed to have my eyes checked and went to Pattaya International Hospital on Soi 4.

Saw a Dr. Jitlada who was excellent and alleviated my concerns.

Probably not the cheapest around, but when talking about your eyes, cost should be somewhat down the list of factors.

    How much was it...?

I was there because of a possible detached retina. The total cost was 2160 baht, but most of that was because of the extensive examination process - dilating the pupils with seven doses of medication, and then a detailed exam of the interior of my eyes. I suspect from your description that what you need is far less than what I had, an would probably cost much less. If you stop at the front desk to make an appointment, they will likely tell you the estimated cost ahead of time as they work off a standard chart.

I have suffered from a couple of detached retinas in my left eye, now my right is giving me trouble and I have to have monthly checks to prevent future detachments.

I have tried just about every retinal specialist this town has to offer including most of the other eye doctors in all of the international hospitals and I wouldn't trust them for anything - I now drive to Bkk and see a fantastic specialist there at the Rutnin Eye Hospital in Bangkok.

Take it from someone that wishes they could turn back the clock about their eyes - don't be a cheap charlie and spend the time and money to look after them.

  3. All equipment has been removed. I guess the bank owns everything now.

Nothing's been removed from Pattaya branch I can confirm that the Management is waiting the outcome of the court case before reletting the space. They did open up the space last week for the monthly fire services inspection and testing.

  4. Hi,

Please drop me a line (PM) or an e-mail at: ---email removed---- - I might be able to help you in your endeavour.

Also; there are many Bangkokonians who would give their right arm to move to the coast, since Bangkok offers mostly pollution and unbelievable traffic conditions.

BTW; Pattaya is not "a couple of hours" south of BKK, but rather 1 hour + (depending on where in BKK).

A very good friend of mine owns a fairly large commercial building just outside of Laem-Chebang, set in a very nice and tree'd area; tons of parking and he might just have the type of accommodation you are after, okay ?

    Happy New Year !

    Cheers,

    Jaap Klasema

WOW I have lived and worked here for almost 10 years and dealt with hundreds of business owners in many industries and your comments are way off - qualified staff from Bangkok are easy to attract down here you have to be kidding me and Bkk 1 hour from Pattaya what flying carpet are you using :)

  5. Bupa is pay and claim. Even the gold premium.

Sent from my GT-I9001 using Thaivisa Connect App

This is not correct, I have a BUPA Gold Annual Multi Trip Policy and in November last year while getting off a plane at LAX I notice my retina was starting to detach, went straight to a retinal specialist after a quick exam to confirm the retina specialist staff contacted BUPA's contact line, sent the approval documents and in 6 hours my operation was approved and fully covered more than 25,000 UK Pounds for Doctor, operation and short hospital stay.

BUPA excluded cover for my eye for about 6 months and recovered it after 6 months.

Some misc expenses like medicines, transport etc I paid and they promptly paid back. Best $500 I have ever spent.

  6. Another one!!!

A few years back some high ranking military person built a huge shed on Soi Siam Country Club Road in Pattaya where he stored a blimp that was going to be used for tourist trips.

It held about 6 persons and sat there for months awaiting air traffic approval and on its maiden flight it crashed and was destroyed.

  7. Our Daughter was born 2 months premature and they wanted 1 million Baht up front before they would even look at my wife who was in a bad way.

Then they said they couldn't care for a prem baby and through the Aust Embassy who organised a medivac to Bummungrad my wife delivered and the team there saved our daughter and not once in the first week of their 5 week stay did Bummungrad ask for any payment etc.

We have good insurance but could not get maternity insurance as we lost our previous son at birth, but payment was not an issue it was how they demanded it before looking at my wife.

  8. No big deal. NOT Rolls Royce engines. Aircraft engine fires are fairly frequent and because most of them get engine shutdowns before anything really serious happens most of them are never reported by the media. Hands up anyone who has done 200 plus flights and has never experienced an engine failure. I've flown more than 500 times and have lost count of the failures, fires and other 'emergencies' that I have been subjected to.

I fly internationally every two weeks and thank my lucky stars have never bring in a mid air issue

  9. I wonder if these places are owned by the same person or group.

I don't think it matter much. I predict a big fail.

I had a look behind the California Wow shutter a few days ago. Nothing has been moved. It's still ready to fire up again.

Talking about a WoW since the electricity has been off the smell coming from CFW is really bad - smells like an old persons sweaty armpit - even the Phone Shop people near the entrance have complained - seems the air con was certainly masking the sweat of many.
