How to retire in Thailand
BusNo8 replied to CharlieH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
My monthly rock bottom general spend living in central Bangkok is about 27.5k up from 22.5k due to inflation. Add another ten percent for holiday fund, medical dental. I need two dental implants so that comes out of another bucket. Food is still cheap. Open market for veggies. Breakfast at home. Dishes with fried egg over rice b70. Having said that my wife will bring meals home which we'll both agree still have good value. B10 for a fried egg I'm not happy with and it's rarely fried for me but rather sitting about. It's more expensive but I'm very happy I'm here and not in the US for a dozen reasons -
Which documents are required for me to obtain a residence certificate? Copies, originals. Thank you

I had lunch there about a week ago and I think I've officially sworn off lunch at terminal. It's not even high season. Sometimes I just get down there and lunch must be first on agenda Terminal 21 always full at lunch. Therefore, if you knew that it's kinda on you as you find it bothersome. I too have the same issue, but it's not necessarily the saved tables it's the tourists sitting around yapping bc they have nowhere to go except back to their rooms. I generally try to find single diner and invite myself to join. Foreigners are almost certain to be ok with sharing. Chinese definitely hanging out there. Seem to have a knack of ruining everything. Dunno... kaw gin duay mai krap?

Requirements to be a teacher China Myanmar
BusNo8 replied to georgegeorgia's topic in Teaching in Thailand Forum
Obviously have your retirement plans laid out well in advance -
I have a similar issue - sorry to hijack. I've retired and want to keep SSO insurance but requirements I cannot meet as I / wife do not own property. Therefore, cannot get on house book. Woman on phone told me to visit, wondering if any of you have some good news / information? Part of requirements ID card 13 digit House registration *TM30 or in the book? I was told on phone passport might work but needed to visit. Already have taxid#, residence certificate easy enough.

Latest on Thai Citizenship?
BusNo8 replied to BusNo8's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm chancing myself between 65-80. Anyone know if that might be good enough? The home ownership thing... I'll never own expensive condo here / low grm here. That's kinda doomed me. -

Because it's not the requirement of the job? Perhaps when speaking Thai students are (generally) not learning English in that process? Because Thai grammar teachers are a thing? Perhaps speaking Thai in the environment would mean more work, meetings without compensation. Dunno... -

No. Teaching English in dead central Bangkok. Imagine if I'd lived in Nakon Nowhere I'd be teaching that instead. *I can go anywhere, do anything. Many foreigners would and have thought I'm fluent but I'm not conversational. Thai is a language of 75M users. It is not used outside Thailand. There is no financial benefit by learning Thai. Thailand does not give PR let alone citizenship for all intents and purposes. The real question, even married is why one would bother? This is especially considering the difficult tonal nature of the language. Lemme guess...you have a pink card as well with no purpose other than ID What contribution was made by your post? Nothing. Right. Please spare me further contributions. -

Male. Myself. How fluent is fluent? Hold a conversation or a certain academic level? Is the test an arbitrary panel or standardized exam ? *Thanks Jack. I'm just looking to get a gist. -

Haha...oh, the days. Cambodian runners from Pattaya. -
I've had 11 loaded since about six months after launch. I've had no serious issues whatsoever. One time I had to do a rollback and every install I had the same issue. After about a month it resolved / fixed bug. Got mine tweaked out, very personalized. I also have 12 GB ram which is sufficient for what I do. But I've also got the system very leaned out. No issues. Maybe funky search Microsoft has screwed up search for I don't know how many iterations. The question is do you have tpm2 and can you run the version?

Do I need a special acct for US SSA direct deposit?

I'd thought about this. It seems easiest option TBH. I'm thinking with the Thai taxation issues... when incoming funds are marked as government pension it will obviously be taxed in States (in vast majority of our cases). Other than having to explain to large lump sums that are the equivalent of the monthly payments. -

Thank you all. Manila: Does anyone have a fax number? They'd once asked me for a lot of confidential information via email. I thought this a bit sketchy. Comments please. -
