  1. Yeah. Ever heard of the saying '2 wrongs don't make a right'? Well in this conflict, ongoing since at least the middle of last century, it's been tens of thousands of wrongs and still not one right. Yeah, the Israeli retaliation would be seen as 'right' by some, not going to argue against that, but ultimately it's just another wrong. In a very long line of them. Oh, and the planners and executors of the Oct 7th attacks were very, very wrong too. But some would think that is a 'right'.
  2. No 💩 Sherlock. But it's good to see this being admitted/reported.
  3. The biggest surprise would be that anyone is surprised by this. These people make the rules. They could change them to totally ban all gifts of any value. Of course they won't. All at the same time pensioners on the edge of poverty will lose their winter allowance, whilst the MPs keep theirs.
  4. Not much inflationary pressure on fines in 12 years, must be the only thing that hasn't risen in price!
  5. How many people from the higher ranks of the Catholic church are in jail for this cover-up?
  6. I've no evidence to suggest this is false. What I do know, seen with my own eyes, is that the catholic church boosted school fees by an extraordinary amount just when all this started to kick off. But those weren't 'donations' of course. They were school fees from hardworking American families who felt (ahem, were bullied into believing that) a Catholic education was best for their children
  7. Agree, never liked paying the licence fee. But I mainly object to the ridiculous numbers of layers of management in the BBC, far more of a waste of money than the presenters (not justifying or condoning by the way). All those managers, yet so many high profile people got away with some pretty heinous acts. But I still watch BBC News as it's generally unbiased and they try to be accurate. Plenty of folks could raise items where they believe they are not of course. And so can I, but when compared with MSNBC, Fox etc. they are angels.
  8. Was not shown (in my memory) on the likes of BBC1 or 2. It was normally shown on BBC News, so if you were not able to see that channel then no surprise.
  9. https://www.nperf.com/en/map/TH/1153269.Hua-Hin/19345.AIS-Mobile/signal?ll=13.373587513919782&lg=101.12091064453126&zoom=8 Hopefully this link works. I randomly chose Hua Hin to generate the link, but the map can be zoomed out, moved and re-zoomed in to the user's preferred place. I found it a useful comparison tool when choosing a supplier when I was looking. I found one supplier that was pretty useless in my area so was able to avoid them.
  10. Should change my name to nevertimemetalworker 🤣
  11. Yours is obviously stainless steel. Seems those 3 were just called that by the sales person.
  12. I'm totally happy to respect that, no matter their nationality. Obviously I can only speak for myself and nobody else.
  13. Whilst I understand your reply, I suspect many on the other side of the fence might say that Oct 7th is because of the many wrongs that Israel has visited on the Palestinian people. We all know 2 wrongs don’t make a right. In the case of this conflict that has gone on since at least the middle of the last century, there have been thousands of wrongs and few rights. I take no sides in this conflict. They are all in the wrong. In the case of the incident in question, this is a crime in my eyes. Likely manslaughter through gross negligence. That poor soul should never have been there, the person accountable for that ammunition and its placement is a criminal in my eyes.
  14. As someone who enjoys a beer or six, of course I get what you say. But TIT and I think I'd want to respect the local culture wherever I am, whether I like it or not. At least users of this Forum know about the 17th and can "prepare"; either filling an empty fridge or flying somewhere without such restriction. Tourists going to Thailand may not know about this though, and I feel worse for them. Of course they should have known, but we all know that reality.
  15. A variety of reasons. As I know a bit about Hong Kong I did a few comparisons. All but one HK Uni is in the top 100 in the world. Research scores are all deep into the 90's (out of 100), Thai scores are between 17 (!!!!) and 50ish. But is it isn't just this that is the difference. The web site site is quite easy to navigate so you can maybe compare Thailand with wherever you are from. Better comparison (for probably only me I hasten to add) was between HK & Singapore. Both SG unis rank ahead of all HK unis, but not by much, mainly due to teaching quality and their research environments. Time HK unis got some better teachers, or at least find out why the current ones scored so badly!!
  16. Replace "Boris" with "Donald"? Probably plenty of others too.
  17. Just read this. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cevypzd9gklo There's nothing better to engender confidence in the flying public, aircraft purchasers and investors than culling 10% of your workforce amid "quality concerns". An ex-employer of mine's Finance team culled a shed load of engineers to 'save money', leaving few to do the contracted work. And the CEO vetoed the legitimate concerns of the Engineering Director. Guess what? The company lost most of its overseas business as a result and is trying/failing to start again. Idiots. Yup, there's a strike, but why kill your company by failing to meaningfully negotiate (but not cave)? Seems the crazy macho management of before has passed on their craziness to the new bunch. I'm sure the union are all angels of course. All this, just as the Chinese have launched a new aircraft (Comac C919), with orders starting to roll in. The Chinese will be laughing their narrow bodies in the aisles, and in a few years the wide bodies might be laughing too. C'mon Boeing! Don't remove yourself from the marketplace through ignorance, stupid arrogant male behaviours, ignoring your senior engineers and their years of safety experience and ignoring the competition!
  18. If only he had the basic skillset and real-life experience to get a proper job. Oh wait, virtually none of the UK Members of Parliament fit that job description, or if they ever did they forgot as soon as they hit the "winter fuel allowance" gravy train.
  19. Yeah. I wonder if these people believed they had a choice. Look after their families. Or not. I guess they definitely are not now. Maybe also the karma thing took charge. Still sad for their families and friends. And it's all so avoidable too.
  20. Reminds of an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist I once had to see... 😇👩‍⚕️🙈
  21. Not going to disagree, but he's paying for what he prefers. Same as everyone.
