  1. What an absolute mess the woke world has gotten itself into.
  2. There are some good snake ID groups on Facebook, such as ThailandSnakes or Snakes of Thailand. They are pretty good at helping to identify snakes and giving advice.
  3. As Ukraine needs the US I doubt this issue will be too overblown.
  4. The 'eye for an eye' versus the 'kill them wherever you come upon them' bovine excrement summed up perfectly in a Gary Larson joke.
  5. Yes. They can. So can Christians. Thou shalt not... An eye for an eye... The point is criminals kill, not the religion. Criminals break the law, the religion does not. We can all point fingers at other religions (I was brought up Christian, but quit when I learnt the Minister was a kiddie fiddler and got protected by the church and not prosecuted by the police). My mind is open to other religions, and I prefer to see the good that religions bring to the vast, VAST, majority of their followers, but of course being aware that twisted minds will twist the religious writings to their own ends when it suits them. And I am aware of the ridiculous intolerance some have to religions other than their own. I'm also generally a fan of free speech, so wouldn't want people to stop expressing their views. Whether I agree or not.
  6. I don't care about his approval rating, it means nothing to me. The "Daily Telegraph" is often known as the "Torygraph" in the UK. Not exactly the most balanced editorial content, but in this case well done to them for highlighting this issue as it's an absolute scandal. Personally, I don't mind them scrapping this universal payment, far too many rich people getting it. But, this was ill-thought out, lacking in consideration for how difficult many people find filling out Government forms, especially the online ones. It would have been far better to fund a charity for 3 months to help every over-60 to fill in the forms, so that as many as possible could escape the trap of having to choose between eating or heating this winter.
  7. There were so many, I don't know where to start. If Sue Gray's Report was a pack of lies then I'm sure the UK media would have said so. They might have done and I may have missed it, but maybe you know better. I'm sure you can post some links to that. I'm also not so blinkered that I stop at Sue Gray's Report. Were you alive when Brexit was happening? Remember the promise on a side of a bus about NHS spending? There's a bit more on this link. https://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/61163/boris-johnson-dishonesty-brexit-privileges-committee-partygate There's shed loads more, but I'm not wasting any more time on this cheating liar. Of course, he's not the only cheating liar in politics, so perhaps I'm a bit unfair to single him out. But he is close to being at the pinnacle of liars and cheaters in world politics that I'm aware of, and has been well exposed across a wide range of media. Very many times.
  8. "Whoever kills an innocent person it is as if he has killed all of humanity.” — [Quran 5:32] This murderer is not a Muslim, he is simply a cowardly murderer who needs to be taken out of the gene pool.
  9. Thanks for the reply, it’s appreciated.

  11. I'm proactively looking at retirement now. Currently swithering between Thailand and Philippines. Phuket never made it onto my long list after holidaying there 12 years ago (loved it), then 9 years ago (didn't love it due to the Russian influx and their negative impact on the Thais). Hua Hin is my favourite place so far, but more research to be done. Philippines? Not found anywhere I love yet (been to Cebu, Manila, Angeles, Kalibo, Taal and Palawan). A Filipino I know has recommended the Subic area (less typhoon impact, less busy but still got some life about it). Going to check that out next.
  12. Scammers who found a new way to scam. All through abusing the names of people killed by the police. Amazing. Almost as amazing as the woke funders who thought they could get good publicity from feeding the scammers.
  13. Any chance of a completely unbiased, non-political appointee who will apply the law evenly, and without fear or favor? I thought not...
  14. Oh, obviously one dragon ball short of a portion…
  15. Ooh!! Just like the Vardy v Rooney Wagatha Christie saga in the UK!! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wagatha_Christie
  16. Apologies @metisdead - your edit makes it look better...
  17. The UK's parole system is generally pretty good. The reoffending rate is pretty low, 0.5% I believe - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0CPJW85Y1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_d_asin_title_351_o00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (beware this is a paid-for book, but it is written by a senior parole board member (Rob McKeon, he's been on radio and tv talking about it, so his name is public domain). Just let them out when they are no longer a threat to anyone. Same goes for thieves and anyone violent, probably a lot of other categories too. The criminal justice system should be protecting the law-abiding public or anyone vulnerable. It currently is not. The latest reoffending rate I could find is 37.4% - https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/proven-reoffending-statistics-april-to-june-2022/proven-reoffending-statistics-april-to-june-2022 The parole system seems a better judge of potential reoffending than, well, judges.
  18. The world will be a better place without this <deleted> gobbing off. I'm sure he'll really enjoy the Romanian prison system. Long may he rot in it.
  19. I don't mind reading stories like this. It's a reminder of just how shallow some people can be and how low the bar can get. Of course, I'm not shallow in any way whatsoever... 😬
  20. Lies and deception is front and centre of every politicians job description and CV, irrespective of the colour of their tie or dress. I'm sick of all of them. Bring back the Monster Raving Looney Party!!!
