A problem with telling novices to install programs such as CCleaner, is that it will lead them to bundled installers. Installers that suggest that you install another program during the installation. The normal version of CCleaner does this, installing a Toolbar. Why is this not mentioned? Actually what you suggest is far more complicated and risky. Your suggestion was to install two external programs, which likely will be bundled with other programs in the installer. The most sensible thing is to start with the built-in Windows Disk Cleanup as suggested by @OneMoreFarang to include System Files.
