  1. I built a house on her family land ( not a luxury one). I pay for all what are needed for daily life. She pays for all unrelated, even for her personal things. Hotels and restaurants are on me. She owned 2 Japanese restaurants in past, but she is retired now, just like me. We help each other if anyone of us needs help about something (not financially). A few months ago she spent 2 weeks at a hospital and I was with her almost all the time (only went home to get some asleep, out of home 4:30am, back home 4:00pm, sometimes 6:00pm. No daily, monthly, or annual salary. It's something close to a western relationship. We are not together for money, not me, not her.
  2. This is what happened at local tax office yesterday. He asked me if I filed a tax return in the US ? I answered that I was not required to file a tax return and I showed him a copy of ITA. Then I showed copies of SSA-1099, bank statement (transfers) and SSA benefit verification letter. Then he asked me how much is my SS from total transfers ? He only entered baht amount of my SSA-1099 in the form as 2024 income. He said the extra is from your savings account and is not an income from 2024. To make it short, he made some numbers in the form that ended to 0.00 tax. He said if I need to know about DTA I better contact section 4 of RD main office (no one had any information at that office). "He told me that there is a box on the form that will become useful in case if immigration asks for." (I did not ask anything regarding immigration)๐Ÿค”
  3. A neighbor who was watching here closely ? ๐Ÿค”
  4. That's better, but you need to shop around. I found my med in a pharmacy near a hospital. It costs 70% cheaper than the hospital pharmacy. Larger pharmacies near major government hospitals could be better.
  5. I have 2 questions for you: 1- Did you have to change your address to Thailand ? 2- Does this change of address will change "residence address" (US address) as well ?
  6. I don't think so ๐Ÿค” Since I did not have to do so.
  7. As I understood the 1st meeting at police station is for this purpose. I could refuse it, but as the one at fault I did it.
  8. I did have rear cam, but insurance was not interested to look at the videos(however I checked later and found only corrupted video files, I bought 2 new cams this week). I just call them ghost because they are fast and changing lanes quickly (like ninja bikes).
  9. 1- I was changing lane. The "ghost riders" changing lanes rapidly. Before I could even see where he came from to my right side. It was already too late. But I was at fault because he was already in that lane before me. Just small contact with my truck, he was in air. 2- both are licensed. 3- I don't know. 4- they will They make appointments with me and my insurance agent for next police station meeting through me.
  10. I was advised to pay some for beginning before he gets paid by insurance later after he recovered, but I believe that was more than enough for such reason. Today I was told by insurance agent at police station that what I paid looks good if case goes to court and "do not pay" any cash to them, they will be paid by us. I guess everything is almost clear now. (My 1st time accident). I hope never happens again, but I learned how the game works here. Somehow different than the US, insurance to insurance.
  11. It is not one way, it is 2 way. The government ask for tax then they must provide services for tax payers equally. In the US I'm a tax payer ant I receive government support in different ways, especially free medical care.
  12. A few months ago they found me at fault in an accident. The motorcycle (sport fast motorcycles) rider with a broken leg (required surgery) and in the first matting at police station I paid him 35000 + both vehicles inspection fees (however one of police officers suggested my wife not to give him too much money) till he gets paid by insurance. I have a 1st class Tokyo insurance, but the rider lawyer says the insurance not paying enough and asked me to pay more. If you had such experience please tell me your story.
  13. They distributed millions and donated free tests and free vaccines to other countries. But Biden even hesitated to send vaccines to Thailand for expats. We were the last. ๐Ÿ˜”
  14. Health ๐Ÿ˜‚ It will cause inflation only, higher prices on products.
  15. 2 more hostages. Never ending story as long as Ayatollahs ruling the country.
  16. But there is "Benefit Verification Letter" that you can print it from your SS account, the website + your SSI 1099 that is available to beneficiaries.
  17. Ask water company the cost for a new water-meter then decide which is better deal.
  18. https://itap1.for.irs.gov/owda/0/investigate/WhoMustFile_ITA/en-US/ScreenOrder~Main~qs%247a03ad32-ff39-4de9-98b9-5ab40555cd12%24global%24global if you answer all questions you can easily find it if you are not required to file a tax return. (IRS website) move been doing this for 10 years.
  19. You need to go to different office. Tax offices have different idea about tax. Some very nice and helpful even though they have not much information regarding farang tax and some just don't care. In my case, I was told that I'm not required to pay tax for US SS. And the extra that I transferred to Thailand was less than 120,000.
