BREAKING NEWS London-Bound Air India Flight Crashes Near Ahmedabad
Nid_Noi replied to webfact's topic in World News
No, the 2 levers are at different places. The gear is on the captain’s side on the panel while the flap handle is close to the co-pilot seat in the left armrest position. Both are totally different in shape. The gear level has a small wheel to remind the pilots its function while the flap lever has the curvature of the wing also a reminder of its function. -
Maybe you should add all the exclusions attached to this “approval” as well as the necessary testing to be done with data submitted to the FDA before 2032. Also the CDC has changed its adult vaccine schedule to remove the recommendation for pregnant women. Also the “approval” letter asks Moderna to conduct a new randomized controlled trial in adults 50 to 64 to determine if they still benefit from COVID vaccination. As pre-marketing studies Moderna has to continue to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the product before its launch in 2032. So the new FDA commissioner is not anti-science but another seven years of tests and data seem more appropriate.

Does getting a life means ignoring the disastrous consequences of the COVID jabs with its millions of dead or injured for ever in their prime lifetime? Maybe you don’t make a link between all these eugenic laws being voted in the western countries to “solve” not only the homelessness, mental health and autism issues but the Covid jabs consequences. You can bury your head in the sand but like genocides the jabs consequences won’t disappeared.

Transport Exciting News: Direct Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur Train to Resume in 2025
Nid_Noi replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
We have done this trip a couple of times more than 35 years ago. I do remember the necessity to change platform when going through immigration because the Malaysian railroads gauge is wider than the Thai gauge. So this new direct train needs to be equipped with the variable width bogies or as they used to do between France and Spain lift the carriages and replaced the bogies. Some express trains have the variable gauge wheelsets or automatic gauge changers. Same issues with the Russian gauge wider than the European standard gauge. -
Finance Foreign Nationals Face Account Bans in Bangkok Bank Crackdown
Nid_Noi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In the first paragraph is mentioned that property owners will still be able to have a bank account. What about the tourist who wants to buy a property? I suppose all the real-estate professionals will press the government and banks to make exceptions for tourists who have the intention of being house or condo owners. I don’t see any possibility to buy a property, pay the land lease and the associated transaction taxes, pay utilities and other maintenance expenses without a bank account. I have a bank account in the US as well as in an European country without any property and residence in either country. I do have financial investments in both countries and report these foreign accounts when filing my income tax. Never had any problem as long as you follow the rules. This is going to hurt the local business as we know most of them avoid debit and credit card and prefer cash. Paying 220 baths per ATM withdrawal with a foreign card is a non-sense on top of carrying 30,000 baths in your purse. Many long-term renters (3 to 6 months) may look elsewhere for their winter retreat. -

Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash
Nid_Noi replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Does it mean that kids under 3 and between 14 and 20 don’t pay an entrance fee? Or do Thais consider 14 to 20 adults? Just to remind our readers that the age of majority in Thailand is 20 years old. Unless you reach the age of 20 you are not considered an adult. -
British Billionaire Brothers Relocate to Monaco Amid UK Wealth Exodus
Nid_Noi replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Maybe have you forgotten the disastrous years the UK went through under Wilson and Callaghan regimes in the 70’s. The country was bankrupt and the exodus at its peak not only wealthy people but middle class citizens. The kingdom was saved by the Iron Lady. Where do you find one these days? -
Frequent flyer in the Twin Otter and pic hours in single turboprop (Beaver, Turbo-Porter and Husky). Agree with you. With only 6 souls on board the load would have been easily handled with one single operating engine as long as CG was within limits. The 3 aircrafts operated by the RTP were fairly new (2017-2018) and have been ferried from California to Thailand in 2020 with no technical problems ( unless Thai mechanics have not followed the proper maintenance schedule after delivery). I doubt the PT6A-27 engine failed unless done by pilot’s error (fuel starvation or propeller accidental reversion). Another option is improper trim settings especially the elevator trim tab which is crucial. Strangely very similar accident as the Air Moorea DHC-6 in August 2007 “loss of pitch control after an elevator cable snapped” at 300ft.

Just have a separate contract which obliges the landlord to give you preference when it’s time to renegotiate the lease. The terms can be part of the contract for price (based on local land value at time of renegotiation). Also include a clause to have preference to offer to buy in case Thailand authorizes foreigners to own land before the end of the lease. We have a clause which deducts the residual value of the lease from the purchase price in case such an option arises. In our area everything is for sale. 80% of farming land surfaces are not cultivated and have a sale sign on it. Thais are land poor and land value depends on what wealthy Thais are willing to offer (price is usually at the bottom of the scale, dictated by what the land office considers “normal”).

We spent New Year in Port Baton 20 years ago. The municipal generator worked from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm except for the 31st of December where it was switched off at 1:00 am. The party was in the local school yard. Best lechons of Palawan. El Nido was still a quiet place. We stayed at the Miniloc resort where the water was crystal clear.

Cambodia Rejects 97% Tariff Claim, Ready to Negotiate With Trump
Nid_Noi replied to geovalin's topic in Cambodia News
Until now S.E Asian countries have decided to slash their import tariffs to a trickle. Something is working for Trump. All these countries have their negotiating teams ready to go to DC for making deals. There are going to be a lot of "Sorry, so sorry". -
Just Google “does Thailand still have pay phones? Answer: Currently TOT has around 120,000 phone booths around the country with 30,000 of them located in Bangkok and its outskirts; the rest are located in the provinces.

Ghost Tower Defies Odds: Bangkok's Abandoned Icon Survives Quake

All the top floors have been opened to the rain for almost 30 years. I can imagine the waterfalls down the staircases and elevators shafts during the monsoon season. The humidity in the concrete of the lower floors and basements must be constant whatever the climate outside. I would love to see the rust “leached out” of the structure. -
Thailand Urged to Form ‘War Room’ in Response to US Tariffs

The victim of the VAT tax is the final consumer, rich or poor. From producers to retailers VAT is paid on the mark-up portion of the price. The more “middle men” in the marketing process, the more taxes will be paid by the final consumer. There is no social benefits in the VAT. VAT is on Goods and Services. VAT is a tax on taxes. In conclusion the VAT is the major cause of fiscal fraud (cash payment, undeclared work, barter, double-invoicing, etc…). VAT has been the cause of unemployment and social security deficit. -

Le Pen’s Ban Fuels Hard-Right Narrative of Persecution
Nid_Noi replied to Social Media's topic in World News
What I understand is that you have a poor knowledge of the Adidas-Tapie-Credit Lyonnais affair in which Christine Lagarde was saved by the establishment. Any other person in her place would have been sentenced to jail time. Because she was the IMF official and former Minister of Finances her case was brought to the Cour de Justice de la Republique and not to a criminal court. She ordered the arbitration panel to solve the case and Tapie won the settlement against the state through its state owned bank the Credit Lyonnais US$527millions. Among these people “negligence” replaces “ dishonesty”.Then the decision of the panel was overturned because one of the panelists had ties with Tapie. How convenient for the court of appeal to overturn the initial decision. Lagarde knew Mr. Estoup the arbitrator but did not find any reason to dismiss him. Lagarde is rotten to the core. -

Thailand Urged to Certify Hotel Safety Amid Post-Quake Tourism Concerns

Once the Thai emergency sinister declaration has been published foreign travel insurances will remove coverage for travellers planning to visit Thailand. I can see a lot of fine prints denying coverage for multiple causes even if they are not related to the hearth quake and its consequences.
