Who got bored in Thailand and went back?
Nid_Noi replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
…also family pressure. Met a few Europeans who had to cancel their retirement plans in Thailand, their adult kids could not managed their lives without help (marriage, divorce, grand-kids, finances, jobs, finances, etc…). These people had to divert a fair amount of their retirement budget to help their kids. -
Who got bored in Thailand and went back?

If you can afford « jetting » don’t stop or you’ll hit the downslope. At least Thailand could be considered a hub for the Far-East and SE Asia. So many exciting places between the Indian and Pacific Oceans can be reached with less than 4 hours flight time. We still have Bhutan and the Indian surrounding areas as well as the Chinese Yunnan province on our shopping list. It will compensate for my lack of Alps and Rocky Mountains landscapes. -
Your post is applicable to most countries in today’s world. Why do you want to cut your life expectancy by 25% unless you are at the helm of a country whose decisions have no meaning on the world stage. Who thought Swedish PM Olof Palme could be assassinated in 1986 while walking with his wife downtown Stockholm or Shinzo Abe during a political event in Nara prefecture? I am not speaking about the 4 US presidents assassinated or the attempts on 4 other presidents (which failed obviously).

At least Trump managed to have people speak about him and his grandiose projects. People need to dream about exceptionnel ventures. This is why Hollywood had its best times when they produced odysseys of conquest with megastars. Something Biden failed gloriously at. Nobody is interested in DEI, ESG or transgenderism. After all the fake Nobel Peace prizes given to Arafat, Peres, Rabin, Kofi Annan, the UN, Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Obama, etc…Trump got nothing for the Abraham Accord. Normalization and recognition between Israel and the Emirates with so many benefits coming out of those incredible partnerships. Peace treaties signed between UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan were deemed impossible as well as diplomatic representations, etc… Even if Trump succeeds partially it shows the world that each human people needs to dream bigger to be successful and not wait sitting on his *ss for any social benefit coming from your gender, sexual orientation or skin colour.

600,000 Thai Students to Receive Learning Tablets by June

https://slaynews.com/news/hospital-whistleblower-doctors-euthanizing-covid-vaxxed-due-horrific-side-effects/ Healthcare is provincial but the distribution of equalization payments by the federal government has a profound effect on healthcare financing. Health Canada is federal agency https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_Canada Maybe you should stop watching CBC and CTV.

You are just confirming the facts I mentioned. Time is the essence. Do you think that politicians are concerned about the welfare of the citizens? Backbenchers do not give a damn about the orderly transition. You are just naive and dreaming in technicolor.

It seems that many people have no clue about the Canadian parliamentary system. Trudeau did not resign, he INTENDS to resign. So he is still leader of the Liberal Party and the PM. The Liberals have 90 days to start the process of choosing (elect) a new leader. They can drag their feet. Also Trudeau asked the Liberal Governor-General to prorogue the Parliament until the 24th of March which means their is no dissolution possible or motion to censure the government. The parliament is « frozen ». So Trudeau stays with his full functions as liberal leader, PM without the risk of being censored. His decision postponing any possibility of elections gives many Members of Parliament full pensions they would not have received if the government had been censored in January after the holidays break. Like Biden is doing since November 5, 2024 this delay gives Trudeau plenty of time to cushion his exit and help his liberal buddies. If re-elected by his constituents in the Papineau riding he may come back in politics. Don’t trust the Canadian electorate, the next opposition party may be the socialist NDP which has been gaining seats in federal and provincial elections.

One of my friends (a big donor to the hospital foundation) died in the hallway on a stretcher waiting for a room. He had been for 7 hours in the hallway without seeing a doctor. It’s a nurse who closed his eyes while walking by to go to the washroom. A new inquiry is taking place about the MAID program (Medical Assistance In Dying). Most candidates would be people who have been severely injured by the mRNA jabs.

DDPM Reports on Road Safety During 2024 New Year Festival Campaign
Nid_Noi replied to Georgealbert's topic in Thailand News
I would like to know how many casualties among the farangs. During the last 2 weeks an increase of foreigners, young or old, with or without helmets have been taking huge risks and behaving madly, ignoring the basic rules of the road, showing the middle finger to other users. Some have been running red lights following the usual Thai habits. I suspect many have no Thai driving licences or insurance. -
Scientists Identify 1831’s Mystery Volcano That Cooled the Earth
Nid_Noi replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Right, nature regulates itself. Volcanic activities are the earth thermostats. Amazingly the chains of volcanoes are well distributed on each continent in order to spread its mineral benefits (as well as a reminder of its mighty power). Such an immense reservoir of energy. -
You said it all. The Treaty of Maastricht has been the death sentence of Europe. Add the European Commission with Frau Fuhrerin Ursula von der Leyen and you have set the stage for the total collapse of Europe. Quite frankly Christine Lagarde is the wrong person to pull the alarm. She is WEF all the way to the bone and was ardently promoting the European Union. She failed as French minister of Finances and Macron got rid of her like Merkel got rid of von der Leyen. Bruxelles is the dumpster for all failed politicians. Mario Draghi is also part of this European aristocracy so he is not the right person to give any advice. The European Commission has shown to the world how corruption is part of its management policy with the Qatar Football World Cup, Mc Kinsey operatives infiltration to the highest levels of the EU and the Covid-19 scamdemic. Then Ukraine is the cherry on the cake with its international money laundering operations. Show me one member of the EU commission who did not make the trip to visit Zelensky.

Where to travel out of country for 2 days?
Nid_Noi replied to Terek's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I would add the National Palace Museum where we were amazed by the collections of Chinese Antique pieces. We spent 2 days visiting the whole place. The train ride to Taichung was worth the time as well as the visit of the Southern National Palace Museum in Taibao City near Chiayi City. The best food and oolong teas in Asia. -
Same in Pranburi. Just 2 years for renewal from the day of the application, not from the expiry date of the previous license. Also make sure you renew at least 15 days before your « visa » expiry date and make sure your certificate of residence matches your « visa ». Visa means the stamps on your passport not the document issued by the Thai consulates. Also rules differ based on the immigration office or DMV office and no point arguing about the fees paid or the forms used. Many forms pulled out of the Thai official website are not valid in certain offices which have their own.

Where to travel out of country for 2 days?
Nid_Noi replied to Terek's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Why not choose a closer and more entertaining destination: Kunming. It’s a 2:30 hours flight (Air Asia or China Eastern) for less than $100 and make the return on the new high speed railway from Kunming to Vientiane (9:30 hours). Yunnan and the trip back through Laos are beautiful. Could stop in Luang Prabang for a couple of days. From Vientiane easy connection to Bangkok after visa extension. -
Jeju Air Flight from Bangkok Skids Off Runway at Muan Airport, 28 Dead

Jeju Air Flight from Bangkok Skids Off Runway at Muan Airport, 28 Dead
Nid_Noi replied to Georgealbert's topic in World News
Looking at the ADS_B data on Radar24 and Flight Aware and the track on the final approach, it seems that it was a straight-in approach without any holding or circling. If the crew had been aware of a gear malfunction he would have circled the airport to review the check list and implement the procedures adequately. ATC and Muan Approach would have communications dealing with this problem before the final approach. Belly landing in a 737 requires remaining fuel dumping and prepare for the aircraft as well as the passengers to brace for the crash. Also all emergency vehicles would be along the runway. Based on the video it seems the « touchdown » was at high speed and way down the runway threshold in order to overrun the runway it did and crash at high speed into the structure. The structure housing the localizer antenna would not provoke such an impact just a dent on the wing leading edge or the nose of the aircraft. So it must have been something else. -
This movie was done in 1896 by Lumière. He was colorized and sound was added almost 60 years later. But notice how adults and children were nicely dressed. And this is a local train in Provence (La Ciotat) where the weather is sunny and balmy. People would dress to go to church or to the fair. Even poor immigrants would dress to travel by boat even in steerage. They wanted to show their best to immigration officers when landing in New York. https://www.statueofliberty.org/ellis-island/overview-history/ In the 1950s and 60s you would have never boarded a commercial aircraft in shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops. Nowadays, even in business class, some passengers are not much covered than going to the beach. I remember a trip from New York to Bangkok via Tokyo some 20 years ago. A group of American teenage girls (posh school students I suppose) boarded the flight with tiny hot pants and bras as tops. Some were fat (not to say obese) but wanted to match their friends’ attires. Flight attendants had to give them blankets to cover up so they did not freeze for the 24 hour trip. They had to buy sweaters in Tokyo otherwise ANA would not have allowed the group to board the flight to Don Mueang.

It’s called lack of self-esteem and respect for others. Just watch pictures or movies from the late 1800s or early 1900s. Blue collar workers leaving the factories or employees punching the clock wore white shirts, ties and hats. People would put their best suits and dresses to walk through the parks. Women wore long dresses never leaving their home without her hat.

« RICH and Famous » have their own playgrounds where they can dock their yachts and parked their jets. Among these playgrounds are West Palm Beach, St.Barth and a few other secluded Caribbean islands. Add a few Mediterranean hot spots, Ibiza, St.Tropez, Monaco, Costa Smeralda, Cinque Terre as well as a few other private Pacific atolls and motus surrounding Bora Bora. For years Thailand has been promoting cheap vacations, all included and now it’s difficult to reverse the trend. -
No space for an international airport with overseas flights. The airport is squeezed between two royal palaces and there is no room for expansion either on the east side (Gulf of Thailand) or west side (mountains) and the new railway line. Only space available are the farm lands west of the AH2. Even this area is pretty well built with several golf clubs (Majestic, Springfield and Lakeview).
