  1. Immigration police officers do have different duties, that's why you're going to see different people. Besides this, there's a rotation and the staff can be moved to another province and replaced by new faces. It sounds normal to me, living in Thailand since 2003…
  2. Well, sorry to be so straightforward, but you definitely seem knowing nothing about Thai people, of course they would kill that snake!
  3. In a shop, when the Thais seem not to care about you, it's often simply because they cannot speak 'farang' (English). You are a guest in this country, make an effort to know their culture and values. Saitong nueng? What does that mean, may be 'sai toong dai mai krab'? ใส่ถุงได้ไหมครับ I've been living here, for more than twenty years now and earlier even when I came as a tourist, I started to learn some Thai. I arrived in 2003 and worked for a university until I retired in 2017. Now, the Thais regularly congratulate me for my pronunciation. Sometimes I also notice that Thais are reluctant to communicate with me, but once they hear I can speak Thai, they smile and are very friendly. What you describe is not that they look down at you or reject you, they just don’t know how to communicate, and may be there’s something in your dressing or behaviour that chocks them, who knows?
  4. Either you have a multiple-entry visa, and you're on the safe side, otherwise, hopefully you applied for a re-entry permit before you left the country, otherwise your retirement visa will have been cancelled.
  5. Good to mention, this article is not serious. Indeed, there is a new law in preparation in favour of small local production, but it is not the one mentioned in this article. However, I look forward to knowing the rules for the application of this new law. Furthermore, I suspect that the government's main concern is to raise taxes on a broader basis, like, for example, expat income tax. In fact, there are already many websites selling ingredients and brewing equipment. In addition, this volume of 30,000 litres per day is not correct. So far, there are two types of licences, and for microbreweries, such as the German Tawan Daeng, the minimum is 100,000 litres per year. Let's see what the new law has in store for us.
  6. Well I would not be so arrogant when I see all the accidents occurring in the States due to lack of maintenance, bridges, railway, Boeing 737 MAX, etc…
  7. I've done it several times, just cut the pipe at about one inch from the fitting then use a plier to tear the pipe around the plier until it is removed, heating can help, but it is tricky.
  8. Larb Nua, far better, with Som Tam Thai, replace fried beef by Nua Ded Diow or Sua Rong Hay, add some sticky rice...
  9. I've been living in Thailand since 2003, initially I worked for a university in the Chonburi province and since 2017 I'm staying in Loei in the middle of nowhere and have never had any security/safety related issues. I commuted from home to the university either driving my truck or riding my Kawasaki Ninja 650, you have to be careful and adopt a defensive way of driving. Obviously, dragging in the hot corners that exist in all tourist places beyond a certain hour can be more risky, but the danger will come rather from expats under influence than from Thais, who will be more likely to protect you than attack you.
  10. I've been living in the Loei province, uphill in the middle of our rubber trees and fruit orchard, for seven years now... Before that I lived in Sriracha and indeed in the end the air also became polluted, with black sticky dust on the furniture. When I arrived, in 2003, it wasn't an issue.
