    The advantages are obviously for those people not working here with work permits. For those that live here without working, it offers a lifetime of ease whenever some desk clerk or officer says a Certificate of Residence is needed. This seems to upset some people. I'm not sure why.

    Registering vehicles and property, renewing both motorbike and car licenses (outside of Pattaya). 🙂 All require a certificate of residence which cannot be reused. 🙂

    You get Thai price at Thai universities instead of international student fees, but can never use that study to apply for an Education visa. Renewal of driving licenses, opening bank accounts and buying vehicles don't require a certificate of residence if you have a pink ID card.

    I feel the OP's pain. It's actually one of my hobbies to try on underwear, have a good scratch and rummage then put them back. Covid and going fully online was a nightmare.

    Both were doing PhDs in Washington State. She was headhunted by a MNC with offices and production facilities in Thailand and has been with them ever since. 🙂
