Alternate investments of 800k retirement funds?
Thanks. This is very small on my screen, but I think I see 1.45% for 12 months fixed. 11,600 -1,900 extension fee 9,700. Has anybody experience of investing 800,000 with Aberdeen?

As an Expat: How do you feel about dying in Thailand? Will you be happy about it?
I feel like keeping the local heroin dealer's number in my phone now just incase I get something terminal.

Are you talking about in Thailand or the west? I would imagine that doctors here are much more open to giving the phone number of a broker that can supply extreme level painkillers during the end of life process. A few friends got abortions here, which is illegal, or was at least, medical clinics all gave the address of different abortion clinics that did it for 5000BAHT that were full of customers and operating in obvious full daylight. If it's anything like antibiotics then local motorcycle taxi drivers can prescribe them. 😂

Alternate investments of 800k retirement funds?
Thanks. That's a nice amount. 64,000 -14,000 agent fees 50,0000. Are those doing retirement extensions without agents fools?

The funds are deposited into your bank account. The immigration officer grants the extension at their discretion. The funds are withdrawn. You're welcome.

What is the dividend yield of Thai Union? How much dividend does Thai Union Group PCL pay? Within the last 12 months, Thai Union Group PCL paid a dividend of THB 0.55. For the next 12 months, Thai Union Group PCL is expected to pay a dividend of THB 0.70. This corresponds to a dividend yield of approximately 6.19% Expected dividends 6.19% 49,520 - 14,000 agent fees. 35,520.

Alternate investments of 800k retirement funds?
What is the best paying Thai bank account for one's 800k retirement extension funds? What is the best % per annum? 1% p/a = 8,000. -1900 extension fee = 6,100 Agents can handle extensions for 14,000 without needing to keep these funds in a Thai bank. But I'd like to keep it in Thailand. Can buy a small apartment for 800,000. Rental income around 4000 per month after common fees are paid. Full occupancy 48,000. -14,000 = 34,000 Minus whatever maintenance needs to be done, usually not a lot. 75% occupancy (9 months. Sitting unrented for 3 months) 36,000 -14,000 = 22,000. Minus any maintenance. Now, other Thai investment options paying annual dividends such as the SET?

Retirement extension insurance?
Almost a one year old thread. Almost one year old information. Anything COULD have changed since then, Jack. 🙂

Retirement extension insurance?
That will be decided after researching the facts of the options. Obtaining the visa outside of Thailand then entering and using the seasoned funds for the first extension, before removing the funds to invest elsewhere, then paying 14,000 for further annual extensions without showing the funds seems to be the best option. Thank you for the information.

Retirement extension insurance?
That is interesting. So I can put 800,000 into my Thai bank account. Get a non immigrant visa based on retirement outside of Thailand showing my bank book. Arrive in Thailand, get a 12 month extension. Then take out the 800,000 and invest it. Use an agent for all further extensions at 14,000 per year with no need to keep the funds in a low % interest Thai bank account. If I am reading it correctly.

Retirement extension insurance?
800,000 in my Thai bank account, yes. Valid passport, plus yellow house book and pink Thai ID card, yes. Wife that doesn't live with me, yes. So won't bother with a spouse extension. Is it better to enter the country with a visa extension and go straight to the immigration office and apply to change it to a Non Immigrant visa based on retirement, then also a 12 month extension. Or apply for a non immigrant visa based on retirement outside of Thailand, enter on that and then go to the immigration office to apply for a 12 month extension? One of those requires insurance? Which could be okay. Do they have a partner insurance company that offers a decent competitive package? Or are you on your own to get your own insurance? I was told that agents in Pattaya offer retirement extensions for maybe 28,000 BAHT for the first year then 15000 BAHT every year after? And you don't need to keep 800,000 BAHT in the bank? Is that true? I can buy a small studio apartment for 800,000THB that would rent for 5,000 BAHT per month, even if unrented for 4 months every year it's still 40,000 BAHT which covers the agent fees plus some change. But the main question is about which is better, arrive with no visa or arrive with a non immigrant visa for retirement? And insurance. Which one requires it? Do they have an insurance package set up that is used for it?

Absolutely. Hopefully the doctors are a lot more open to sending me home to my bed with lots of really good painkilling drugs in my family's pockets should it come to that. Or the number of a broker that can sell them, at least.
