  1. I did. Earlier in the thread. 🙂 That both your English and Thais levels are seriously lacking is no slight on me. 🙂
  2. Just what part of 'I gave an example earlier in this thread' are you struggling with? 🙂
  3. Brits often say to go do the chinky when going to a Chinese restaurant. Nothing derogatory about it. Though articles and prepositions can make a difference. I went down the chinky last night. Acceptable. I went down on a Chinky last night. Borderline.
  4. Good, I'm glad that my example was educational for you. I'm happy to educated clueless newbies. 🙂 Which you feel is not correct? 🙂
  5. Most around here don't, which is fair enough, the only people they come into contact with that aren't fluent English speakers are the family nannies and maids. And they mostly speak Lao or Khmer dialects anyway.
  6. I've already given an example of that in this thread. You're obviously in need of Thai language lessons, go get some. 🙂
  7. You're wrong. 🙂 You're not Bangkok ready, as you're clearly clueless about Thais and Thailand. 🙂
  8. Just a different culture where simply labeling a person in the vicinity isn't an insult. A guy at our gym is called Red Shorts. Do you want to spar today? With who? (looks around) Red Shorts. Where's Red Shorts? He booked in for 2pm today. Etc. Simply a different culture that goes to highlight how Karen-esque so many Westerners are. 🙂
  9. The inhumanity? Spend 24 hours as a displaced Gazan mother and come back to us. Your ego took a hit because for the first time in your over privileged life you were the black boy being barked at by simpletons. Then after 24 hours you went home and normal service was resumed. Give us a break. Having to sleep on a floor. Backpackers and squatters choose to do that for years. Barked at by simpletons, 14 hours a day businessmen pay $200 an hour for that.
  10. Interesting report, thanks for the write up. But you sound like a baby. Man up. If the 'Thai wife' allows you to.
  11. Yeah, I think the guy paid around 400k for it 10 years ago when it was around 5 years old. Nothing but servicing and the odd new part such as this radiator, engine mounts, I think he said he got a new aircon unit put in a number of years ago. I reckon it will last another 10-20 years for the old guy if he's still around with just annual servicing and general bits and pieces every few years. I doubt he needs all the electric bells and whistles new cars are laden with.
  12. It was done a while ago. I took it for a drive today, what a difference. Much smoother, quieter and seems faster as (presumably) due to the new engine mount, there are much less vibrations and shakes etc in the 90-110kph range. Feels like a new car. If not bothered with bells and whistles those middle-aged Jap saloons are hard to beat for value.
  13. Working remotely for MNCs and in the oil and gas, manufacturing, industrial design sectors etc. My Thai wife was head hunted by a MNC while doing her PhD in the States, she's been with them since, she recently went back to work in their US based HQ, but for a number of years previously was working remotely as we traveled the world. What is your highest professional qualification and industry?
  14. 2 days 2 nights is enough. long boat around the island elephant ride old temples
  15. Then maybe ask them your OP question about possibly living on 40k per month at that age whilst they're going from the club to the afterparty at 4am.
  16. You're claiming that numerous immigration officers are systematically breaking the law en masse. Now you're just being silly, as well as being angry. 🙂
  17. As mentioned, I'm neither of pensionable age, based in Pattaya, or living on 40k per month. For a 70 year old with all assets paid off with a nice home to be in, 5k on the weekends and 1k per day on weekdays, Sports Bar or meals at farang cafes, whatever they are, should be okay a few times per week. Do 70 year olds usually like going to Sports Bars?
  18. No, and no. 🙂
  19. Retirement visas/extensions are available for 25k first year 15k extensions after the first year ZERO funds needed. 🙂
  20. I'm not reading all of that, but it's Muslim immigrants/male Muslim refugees, isn't it?
  21. The busybody's family called up my son at 8:30am this morning all excited. They're going to a waterpark and does he want to go, our house is on the way so they can pick him up. Great. I give him a thousand baht, we pack up his stuff into his backpack, and wait. Still no arrival at around the approximated pickup time. He calls them. They're waiting for another friend to come to their house first. Okay, cool. What time will this new friend go to their house at? They didn't say. Okay, can you check? Checks. They don't know. Okay, can they check? They check. 2pm. 2 pm??? It's 10am now. Okay fine. 2pm. Nattering on the phone. Everyone's going to a different waterpark now. Okay. What's it called? they didn't say. Okay, can they tell us please. ***** That's on the other side of the city! Yes, they said I'm to drive him to their house first. Cheesus Sucking Riist. I'll be as bald as Jeff Bezos soon.
