  1. ‘I will take the call’: Nathan Buckley says ‘compelling’ Demons could lure him back to coaching Collingwood great Nathan Buckley says he would take a call from Melbourne president Brad Green, declaring the Demons are a compelling reason to consider a coaching return. Buckley, the former Magpies coach (2012-21) who guided the club into the 2018 grand final, is keen to return to the senior ranks, having left the Magpies through the 2021 season. While also on the radar of the fledging Tasmania Devils, who are slated to join the league in 2028, Buckley confirmed on Wednesday he would be interested in discussing Melbourne’s plans with club brass. “I have spoken about my life and how I enjoy the balance I have at the moment. It would need to be something quite compelling to leave this. The Devils’ timeline was good because it was out there, it was on the horizon, this one is a little bit sharper, isn’t it?” Buckley told SEN on Wednesday. “I would take the call and I would have the chat, but there still would have to be a lot that would have to fall into place for me to leave this position of comfort that I have discovered.” He later added: “I think the Melbourne prospect is quite compelling. There is, obviously, a lot that needs to settle and evolve there, but big club, storied history, the experience in the playing group is unquestioned, and I like their young group of players as well. In that sense, there is a compelling case there in terms of opportunity, but there is plenty of water to go under the bridge.” But Essendon great and former coach James Hird has ruled himself out. “No, I think I have said previously, I am flattered someone would think about it, but no, that’s not something I would [consider],” Hird told Footy Classified on Tuesday night. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/i-will-take-the-call-nathan-buckley-says-compelling-demons-could-lure-him-back-to-coaching-20250806-p5mkpa.html
  2. I see the mighty Nathan "figjam" Buckley saying that he would honor you with his brilliance. The club must be scrambling for the phone now.
  3. You and Alex both had a go at changing your positions.
  4. It's probably just as bad knowing your team is capable but never quite getting there.
  5. Special award to Alex and Radar for having the balls to pick against the bookies?
  6. I suppose a good tipping rule is that if your team is up for a close game always pick the other side. If your boys win you're happy, if the other no-hopers get up you have the points.
  7. I would have enjoyed it more if they had spelled Neil Kerley's name right.
  8. Big freeze is right, did you see all the long sleeves in the Canberra game? Well done Alex.
  9. Hey, I should get at least a Smartie for being one point off the margin!
  10. Well done Radar, a nice feeling to pick the card!
  11. The Crows complain about the umpiring most games so they will be happy to actually have people agreeing with them this time. Glad to see this was brought up in The Age. But before anyone gets too conspiratorial about the great Adelaide injustice, consider the moment in the second quarter when a free kick should have absolutely been paid against Adelaide’s Mark Keane for throwing the ball to Jake Soligo at the top of the Gold Coast Suns’ goal square. It was a clearer mistake than the Rankine moment. The Suns would have certainly kicked a goal.
  12. Weren't me Rades, I did get a couple of cars in the mall carpark but it was in Chiang Rai. Karma won though the BiB pulled me up a few days later and busted me for driving without a license and driving an unregistered vehicle. The swine rang my Mrs and dobbed me in and said they did not worry about the license but they would stop me every time if we did not get the rego caught up. Forty bucks for the two fines, very civilised I thought.
  13. There was a thread prior to this, started by a guy named Crowboy.
