  1. You mean the idiots with the all the sacred religious symbols tattooed below their waist and around their feet and groin?? Got it πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. It looks so trashy. The number of tatts I've seen that look even ok I can count on my hand. Every time... thought goes through my head ...what were you thinking?? ? Young Thais now too I really really dislike them on women. Men I guess I don't care but it's hideous mess af My wife has a small one she together got with a friend that no longer with her. I'd met her once. Just so happened she was wearing an open dress back showing the tattoo. I'd pay her to remove it. You'd think at 48 she'd jump at it...πŸ™„
  3. The law of the land was argued before the highest court. The ridiculous notion men can be women (v versa) was dismissed. For the sane - it was always done, but now it's clear as crystal. Men don't get ovarian cancer. Men cannot have babies (unless you entertain the folly transmen are men). Women don't get testicular and prostrate cancer. Why do we use the prefix.. trans? Thai ladyboys quite openly acknowledge they are men. They show up to draft lottery as men Not many transmen that are sanitation workers, rail workers, welders, construction housing, electrician, work a fishing boat, elite fighting corps...πŸ˜‰ The entire thing is just subterfuge.
  4. International trips aside, my wife and myself go to one inexpensive place of beauty and tranquility six weeks a year and have done so since we met. Cheap. There's nowhere like it in Thailand and much the world. Most anywhere else will not be as beautiful, peaceful, great for health and exercise. In the better times still fun. I know exactly why I don't travel / go anywhere else...just doesn't measure up. Overpriced Dec, Songkran especially
  5. I agree about the clueless backpackers. Absolutely. Well, that was/is never me. I've actually asked people to kindly take of their packs in MRT. They are people with backpacks not backpackers. They may be same, but not necessarily. What of those HUGE rollbags, excess luggage and then they get on peak hours! 😭πŸ’₯ Rollbaggers .. the bane of my existence. Then can they 'expect' something? Will there be moaning about care and coverage?
  6. Here in Bangkok I see Thais are exhausted. No more land of smiles. Add to this our never ending static in their lives due to foreigners. The conundrum of course is that they are ever gracious as well. I'm feeling being made even more distant at times. I dress well, assume Thai manners in public, not unattractive for my age. I fear we're losing ground. Not a day goes by and something like this happens. Easily 356 farang die in this country annually due to dumb ass shl+
  7. I'm a cheap backpacker type. That's how I also became a cheap retired at 45 in Thailand type. I far and away prefer a backpack as the filthy rollers and being IN the street generally is not the order of the day. I'd say filthy roll bag types. My Thai wife, also used a backpack for years with me and before me. I nag and plead not to take a roll bag. Ever been run over in an airport.. by a person that doesn't give a F? Roll bagger mentality and never an apology. I'm 64 and I'll use a 36L pack until I cannot carry it no more. As for "backpackers" yeah, I rather loathe what I have seen in social media and bump into randomly in BKK. They are what I call placebaggers. They just flit from one stupid trendy area to another OR they blather on about how real, authentic somewhere is when I'd found it dead and finished 30 years ago. Indeed, I did zero travel in Thailand's my first decade in E Asia and used it exclusively for RnR. Islands, fun. On my first visit in 92 visit seemed done and over preferring Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao, Vietnam. On TT they are all running to 711 and posting up about the delicious junk food. Farang don't eat Thai food
  8. I think the total tax on arrival is pushing 2k now
  9. Ssssh no one tell them about the additional assessments tacked onto tourist arrivals. Japan thinks it a great idea too. I expect far more class outta Japan. Thailand pfft.. They'll NEVER get the Andaman marine parks not to charge foreign fees. Ever. What about HOSPITALS?!!
  10. Decades ago I used to wonder whether it was worth walking to Big C for many items when I could just buy them at 7 for quite literally a baht or two more. Times have really changed. I don't really do anything but emergency shopping and the occasional beer in 7. Nevertheless I am definitely noticing prices either extremely high when looking at the product / it's something that I regularly purchase there and at other places such as big C and notice a substantial difference in price. Like in the states 7 learned to ask their customers to pay for convenience. Can't say it's harmed their business in the least Unfortunately un like Japan where you can find amazing prices and lawsons and 7. Please tell me that you're not buying f<deleted>xxng Toasties that recommended to by TT tourists

  13. The former bank TELLER FIFY Solution: GBH It's absolutely fantastic that we are able to draw pensions overseas. It sucks that there is no cost of living adjustment for British pensioners. Nevertheless, them's the rules. Even I is an American expat know this. Maybe he should have given a little bit more thought to his retirement considering his former career in high finance πŸ™„
  14. I assume this was done in US and nothing to do with Thailand? At the SS office did they sort you out for Medicare as well? That needs to be done at 65 correct ? If you went into the office how long did it take and what sort of questions did they ask? What legal documents should I bring?
  15. I asked a number of questions. You've addressed none of them much like the last half dozen posts. Start your own thread to complain about Trump and your life. Trump?? Tesla guy???? Trying to be funny? Just strikes me as STUPID. His name is Elon Musk. So many geniuses on this forum now. The blame my shi++y life on Trump crew is well infected EVERY subforum now.
  16. Anyone?? If I were to go back to States. I'd use the last domicile/mailing address I have. It should be good for a least a few years. Another question.. if I need to change address to Thailand in the future what is involved? Visit SS office? Forms? Online? If I'm using US than there's no are you still alive form correct?
  17. So, ... I need to ... Online: 1 Get ID Me 2 REestablish My SS acct as the one I'd created was in US. * I would then have two. Will this open me up to some sort of fraud flag and have the accounts locked and then I'm on the phone for 52 hours? Is the manila way inclusive? Do I still need these online accounts? Is it possible to go to Manila rather than US? Will I receive something from Medicare about signing up or are the questions,/ process contained within the app for social security?
  18. Drunken ramblings + AI rubbish. That's not helpful.
  19. Don't really need any of it. Just need the check to come + statement printout/ verification
  20. You've pretty much confirmed my December experience . So, when I go in I should plan for two potential dates. The date of expiry (hopefully) or three weeks. The drama was something related. Nothing you'd ever guess. Don't really want to get into it.
  21. Yes, of course the funds remain. I was simply stating that they again did not take my photocopy update nor even look at the book. As for the issue - I'd explained clearly for over a decade the return date was the date of expiry. Period. Last extension she at least wanted to make it three weeks from the date . Drama was this was inconsistent with the past decade plus of extensions. Question is are applicants now being given three weeks as standard procedure
  22. Bangkok Since forever I'd submit my extension paperwork well ahead of the expiry date. I had always got the extension back in hand on the date of expiry. My last extension was different. The IO wanted to give me a date that was essentially a three week turnaround. Drama ensued, but I'll spare you that. She asked if we had plans over New Year (we did). I ended up picking up the extension as always, with drama. My question is simply is this a thing now? Is the turnaround 3 weeks OR on expiry date? I now must plan for both of course πŸ™„ Thanks FYI I've now picked up my extension with no bank book update two years now. I'll still have it in hand for another three years just because πŸ˜…πŸ™„
  23. They were available on MRT. No longer. Not available BTS ever
  24. I think rural Indonesia pretty random. Always enjoyed a month or two. I'm sure much if not all outside of Bali could be explored and you would barely bump into another Foreigner. Indonesia's kind of nice save for the lack of AC and ice. Malaysia is also going to be off the tourist trail just by virtue of the expensive alcohol and the lack of ability to smoke weed. Mindanao Philippines? Go make yourself useful in Myanmar If you've done the recommendation that you said to the point of being bored with it cuz I had become about 15 years ago I really don't know what to recommend. Time to move on to another part of the world I guess
