I decided to return to Pattaya. Even though the nightlife is not my ideal and the people tend to not be my type (low class) I can't afford an upscale scene in Bangkok. Also, it's possible to live away from the Central area and most low life's and have the center nightlife as an option when I choose to do so. This makes it a better option then say, Chiang Mai, where although people have a bit of class, that additional scene is not available. Wherever I go, there I am, but the more options that are available to me, the more likely it is for me to be happy.

Your reason? Please reply asap, I'm getting my flight ticket and need to decide quickly. Got my DTV and am returning from Cambodia. I can't decide where to go, please help me...

I just got my DTV last week in Cambodia. It took about 4 weeks after applying online. I'm not touching an immigration office. Just do a border bounce every six months for five years and there is a nice line behind me at the airport moving things along...

It's not really an area where I would be comfortable having a picnic on the sand... Ditto for Jomtein and the whole area basically. I was never really comfortable with the beach scene around Pattaya. The vibe was just not right. Maybe because of the chairs out there with people watching me, food scraps from places and kind of grungy food places where people have been eating and drinking beer, etc. It's surprising since I like a beach and am from Southern California, but I never found that nice seaside beach scene anywhere around Pattaya.

It's funny how they always have some uber positive reason for staying in pattaya that has nothing to do with girls or nightlife. Almost like they have rehearsed the answer before. Usually it is some great surrounding area that has pretty much nothing, but just happens to be close to the central area with all the bars.

That's what I prefer. How long do you think that will last? 6 more months?

Freelancers are Ok as long as they don't have a dumb bar girl story and look presentable. Guys from India are a no, as well as loud brits. I will pass on any german who likes hot dogs as well, especially if they are a cop or Nazi. Let me know what you find and I will consider checking it out...

I like Pattaya nightlife, but not drunk morons, germans, low class brits, dumb bargirl stories, working class guys from india, beaches as public toilets, etc etc. They often go together, but they are not the same thing... In other words, there are parts I like and don't like. I can't decide if the good outweighs the bad. That's why I was curious if things had gotten "worse" then a year ago.

I'm not into Germans either, unfortunately.

No thanks. I tried that once. Walked in to view a condo in the Pratumnak Hill area. The area sucked so bad I did not view the condo. Say hello to the wild dingo's for me chump.

I would say no as a one off incident. However, if the governor Gavin Newsom were to be arrested (or somehow put out of power) I would say yes.

I lived in Pattaya previously for over a year about one year ago. I was planning to move back to Pattaya, into the Central or Jomtein area. However, I just saw a bunch of Youtube video's saying Pattaya getting real bad with people from India taking over, sleeping on the beach, using beach as a public toilet, etc, but I'm not sure if it's really that bad or if the video's are just focusing on negatives for attention. I don't like males from India much, but i do like the food. How different is it from a year ago?

To summarize your post, you are getting laid more often.
