  1. Has anyone heard her story? Girls don't usually run around claiming rape.

From the looks of her she will get plenty of action in jail.

Thai's have a funny way of flipping the truth.

Once, I had a gun pulled on me, I though it on the roof. Then contacted the Tourist Police.

They told me everyone in the bar claimed I stole my friends credit card and they just where trying to get it back. Of coarse no sign of the gun.

The police said if I made a report I could go to jail for false accusations. I was out numbered, so I quietly went on about my business.

Has anyone heard this girls story, or just reacted to the headline?

    She started the story.

  2. or...maybe capture the perps and convince them to play Tony Bennett and Frank S. to lullaby and assist with early morning repose...

That could lead to a farang suicide. sad.pngsmile.png

    well...howzabout Johnny Mathis?

and I bet that transam has got him on the 8 track in his hot rod...cuddlin' in the back seat on the tuck 'n roll upholstery with his honey...'eek! yer ruining my pantyhose!...'

"Oh you are wearing pantyhose? I thought you must have been a virgin -"

  3. Writing the below expoundings I just burned a couple lovely steaks on me grill....Oh Well...

a 16 year old did this?!

A quick history lesson about crime in Southeast Asia....not from a

book or Google. From living in this part of the world for 42 years.

Not a complete synopsis...just a very brief rant from an old SEA

    hand.

In the early 70's in Thailand when the US Military was still here

one could very easily get a knife in the kidneys anywhere in the

country but most oftenly out on town near any military base.

The knife could come from a BG or a BIB or TM person...

didn't matter. Main reason for getting knifed whether one survived

or not....being condescending toward any Thai for even the smallest

of reason(s). Second reason...being an asshol_e. Patpong was also a

famous place to get knifed back then. Or shot. Soi Cowboy was

    much "safer"...by a small margin.

Mid 70's in the Philippines...anywhere in the Philippines; military

base nearby or far away. Robbed or knifed or shot in a "crime

of opportunity" was a normal occurrence and still is today.

Life is cheap in the PI. Nuff said.

Mid 70's Guam, Marianas Islands....The day I arrived the car

that was bringing me to my new duty station had a 20 pound

chunk of dead coral heaved by a passing car through our the front

window and onto my lap....no real injuries...just some scrapes and

a huge bruise. The chunk of coral was weighed on a scale...that's

how I know how much it weighed...military cars got their windscreens

    replaced free.

Still on Guam during the same time frame; Guam thugs would rob

Japanese tourists daily sometimes violently because of what the

Japanese did to the people of Guam during WWII. Gangs of

Guam thugs would try to beat up US Military personnel...sometimes

with success. If one lived off base it was highly advisable to have

a firearm or two in ones off base home.

Back to Thailand in the late 70's to present day....pretty much

the same crime scene however the crims were spreading out to

Koh Samui and Phuket because the influx of tourists arrivals.

This influx was primarily caused by us who were here during

the Vietnam war era and not only us in the military but also

backpackers & hippies & profiteers. Not one of us who

swore we'd never tell anybody about great LOS was ever

kept our mouths shut....but don't blame us old timers today.

Cambodia 1989 to 1999....The crime rate increased

exponentially about 2 weeks after the arrival in-country of

the UN and numerous NGO's. Knifings, shootings, grenade

tossing, nefarious roadblocks, unpaid soliders, unpaid provincial

and city police...etc...etc...all contributed. Guns & grenades

were very easy to get...so were land mines. Life was very

    cheap.

Indonesia....70's to present...crimes of opportunity are there

too but most involve only the "friendly" robber or devious

pickpocket. If one really pisses off a local...ricin poisoning

    is very common.

    Malaysia & Singapore...early 70's to present...Occasional

pickpocketing and bureaucracy BS to deal with...mainly

safe for mom & pop tourism. Many folks from these two

nations come to LOS to let their hair down. And become

victims of crime just as farang do.

Laos has crime against locals & tourists pretrty much under

control it seems. The lads will even give the intoxicated

tourista a ride back to his or her hotel when curfew starts!

    I can vouch for that.

Burma....having just returned from an 80 day stint photographing

the entire nation I can verify that the crime rate, against foreigners,

is near zero or zero altogether. However this may not last as the

influx of fast cash grows each day throngs of tourists arrive.

Go there while the going is good...and cheap.

That's my 10 satang worth....hope it helps somebody.

Hi Sunshine, would love to see your photos - is that possible?

  4. My chum just bought 5 rai and is building a very exclusive dwelling. I said to him, ''did you notice that small building over there with the mast and three large speakers on top''. ?

    ''Eeeeeeeeer, No''.

''Well at 6 o'clock in the morning a bloke that can't sleep, waffles on it and plays music, all financed by the government, for about an hour''. huh.png .

    ''OH'' whistling.gif

6.00 in the morning? Sounds like a lay in to me.

    5.30 up here. sad.png

    10 here. laugh.png

4.30 am here, during Bhuddist lent, monks chanting for 1/2 an hour or more. Loud! 75 dB in my room!

They feel they have a responsibility to wake the village, I think. & it is a noise like you would never put on your own sound system -

I want to ask them what brand of PA did Bhudda use -

  5. May be they could think of constructing the station on the other side of the bridge. I believe, although not optimal, this should cause infinitely less incovenience for everyone, than removing the station altogether..Adjustments will obviousely have to be made for the ST Central Pier to serve the other side of the river instead and allow more frequent crossing boats? Is it so impossible?

Good idea. Then put the walkway across the river. Could build station first, then close ST. Nice walk across the river.

BUT - does city hall ever listen to f'lungs? Or anybody? I think that any suggestion made by others just goes into the 'possible solutions that cannot be considered or else we will lose face' or a similarly titled circular filing cabinet.

Would love to be shown wrong.

  6. Can only mirror what other posters have said. The only people with the authority to take your passport are the police and immigration. The whole motorbike scam works on the principle that once they have your passport, the operators know you must pay their 'repair fee' to get it back and you have little other option.

Simple lesson - don't give up your passport to anyone

Wares the pommy govmin? Her passport belongs to them!

  7. " to the TRT and offspring parties that withheld funding from the Democrat-led BMA,"

BITEC has had its connecting corridor to Bang Na Station completed for around a year now. However it only goes to the BITEC boundary. Maybe 150 M of 'air' in between there and the station. No sign of action from BTS /BMA.

Is it the above politics that are causing the problem? Fuc_k the plebs, as usual?

  8. Accusing 3 men of rape is not a small deal. Should have been given 15 months and let the word spread back home.

or an up to 2000THB fine? wouldnt that be generally just in line with the thai punishments??

(like hit 2 without driving licence and run, up to 4000THB fine?)

(cheat/technically lie on police entry exam, no prosecution, no fine!)

No consistency in penalties here - steal gazillions & start the Asian financial crisis, get ten years, steal 34,000 baht from employer, get 100 years (but reduced to 50! ;-)

  9. Search for salt-water crocodile off the coast of Samaer San in Sattahip continues

SATTAHIP:--The search for a 3 meter long salt-water crocodile which has led to a temporary diving ban off Juang Island located in Samaer San sub-district continued on Monday following the discovery and capture of a similar sized crocodile in the area over the weekend.

Although rarely seen in this area, the salt-water crocodile which is described as an opportunistic apex predator is relatively common throughout Northern Australia, south-east Asia and India and is known as one of the more aggressive types of crocodile. Royal Thai Navy search teams were out in the area on Monday and Tuesday looking for a second crocodile which had been earlier spotted by fishermen but were unable to locate it.
