me and the mrs use these vans quite regularly from hua hin to bangkok, and we use the same company, and so know some of the drivers to say hello to etc

most rides have been ok, but two were real scary ( we always sit in the first row of seats if we can - the mrs is always asleep, but i always stay awake for the view!!)

from now on, i have printed the image of the accident from this story, and one other horrific image from google images, and i am going to take them to my local copy shop 2mo and get the two laminated back to back..... next time, if he drives like an idiot i am going to pick my moment and show him the card...... not sure what effect it will have, but i cant speak thai so what option do i have...... i dont care so much about saving face, when it comes to saving face, body, organs, soul etc

You should also get the pic. of the guy hanging from the elevated after that unlicensed hiso chick (16 yo) cut the van off - around 9 - 12 months ago.

Took one of these vans recently. When the traffic was light - medium at 120 k, driver stayed with them. When the traffic got heavy, same 120 k, all of a sudden he needed to do 140, so weaving from lane to lane. When I could only see the top of a taxi inches in front of our front bumper I shouted at him very loudly from the back seat. Had the desired effect, he suddenly realised how dangerous he was driving, and slowed down a lot. Got there.

Asia needs to learn feedback. Still take them when necessary, they do appear to have changed - but still ready to shout when necessary.

Took one today, driver did not go above 114 k.

There was an interesting post earlier about a mutiny on a Pattaya bound mini - resulting in the driver getting beaten up by the co's owners henchmen a few days later, and an apology from the owner with free return, different driver.

Yes they should look at the outside world to see what is going on and how it might affect Thailand, the Tv news shows only internal stories from what I see, the Thai papers seem to not take the outside world seriously either and they should. This is going to take a big mindset change but it has to be done, IMHO.

There's a very good reason for this. The main one is not to give Thai's ideas above their station. The main TV stations are owned by politicians, who use them for their own propaganda, and to control the populace.

There was an earlier poster whose ex was able to clean out his bank account just by showing her face at bank - no book or ATM card - did she know your accounts or amounts? Move them if so. if they are still there. ;-)

The weird thing is that you ask questions here on a internet forum about your personal gf problems. Better you ask your parents what to do.

I doubt the parents have delt with any kind of madness which is a Thai girl. I had exactly the same problem, but more extreme with the girl cheating and smoking meth in my bathroom! I even had a new girlfriend move in to live with me 8 months after I broke up with my ex-gf but she still persist on coming around so was forced to change condo. One night I went to the security because she forced herself into the room and I couldnt get her out, the security wouldn't do anything.

Even after my landlord told the security not to let her or her car, the useless security still kept letting her in. Honestly they're useless.

Best bet is to go away on holiday, buy a lock thing to put over your door handle with pad lock and hopefully she doesn't come around and call a lock smith, talk with your landlord, they will try to help as much as possible because they want you to keep being a tenant. If you have a good thai friend, make a complaint to the police too.

You might tell your bus. Ed. to make sure the batteries are disconnected on the submerged cars. It can mean the difference between being able to salvage them and having to write them off.

My friend tried yesterday to book a flight from Germany to Bangkok. She wanted to come around the 10th of November. They told her no flight tickets will be issued to Bangkok! Just precaution, missing trust in reassuring Thai-authorities or do they know more then we here in LOS?

I have serous misgivings concerning the ability of the handling of the flood situation at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

I drive past Suvarnabhumi Airport.every day, when it rains the runways soon seem to collect a lot of water as does the surrounding area which of course was always Bangkok's flood plain in years gone by. Goodness knows how many times the missus used to drag me there to collect water grown vegetables in the past as we lived near to the area and still do.

I'm no expert but it is my take on the matter that it won't be so much a case of flood of water coming across the land but more of a case of flood from groundwater coming to the surface due to the absolute waterlogging of the area locally.

If that is the case those flood barriers will serve to keep the water in the airport not out of it.

Also for many estates they find the water is coming back up the storm (or sewerage) drains - no flood gates on them, or praps clogged with garbage?
