Benign prostatic hyperplasia
A friend of mine with an enlarged prostate had his prostate removed by water jet surgery. Said it was a game changer for him. The idea apparently is that there is a lot lower chance of nerve damage which can leave you impotent. Something to look into.

UK Campaigners Among Five Banned from US Over Free Speech
You mean you think it's hypocritical for Trump to call out lack of free speech elsewhere but then claim that criticizing him is illegal? https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/19/trump-no-longer-free-speech-00574219 I agree. Trump is complete garbage.

Trump is more vulnerable than ever right now
We've seen peak Trump, it's downhill from here. The US public, for the most part, despises the man. The Republicans will be trounced in the midterms IMHO and then the Dems will take control of Congress and then it's over. His incompetence, his blatant corruption, his lawlessness, the incompetent loyalists he surrounds himself with, his constant threats to other countries, he's burning himself out quickly. I also think he and his whelps will eventually wind up in prison, where they belong. Ands no, I am not a Dem or a leftist. But I do strongly believe in rule of law and democracy which Trump completely disregards if it gets in the way of his stupid schemes.

Trump Warns Europe of ‘Civilisational Erasure’ in New Strategy
This American has been to every country in western and eastern Europe with the exception of Romania (couldn't get in at the time). In fact, I have travelled to about 80 countries around the world and speak multiple languages. So spare us your nonsense that all Americans are ignorant. A lot are ignorant just like anywhere else and a lot of Swedes are ignorant and stupid. I know because I've been there and encountered them. I do have to chuckle at someone admonishing others about ignorance by engaging in ignorant stereotypes.

Trump Warns Europe of ‘Civilisational Erasure’ in New Strategy
My advice is to ignore Trump is just laugh him off. He's an incompetent clown and the whole MAGA movement is dying (thankfully).

What's good for the country will make the lefties sad.
I'm not a leftist. Inflation is up under Trump, due to his stupid tariffs and his other Fwittery: https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2025/11/25/prices-increase-as-americans-prepare-for-thanksgiving His so-called "golden age" is really a golden shower. But he and his whelps are doing great monetizing the presidency for their own benefit.

What's good for the country will make the lefties sad.
This says Thanksgiving dinner has actually become more expensive this year: https://tcf.org/content/commentary/a-pricier-plate-thanksgiving-costs-climb-nearly-10-this-year/ https://www.mprnews.org/story/2025/11/19/tariffs-cause-thanksgiving-turkey-price-spike As for the overall economy: https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/ar-AA1R8fL0 But the good news is, Trump and his family are doing great monetizing the presidency ($1.8 billion dollars since the inauguration): https://www.americanprogress.org/feature/trumps-take/ And that is all that matters to the cult.

Nancy Pelosi to Retire: End of an Era in US Politics
I agree if the criteria is making a fortune on the stock market with inside information that only members of Congress are privy to. She and her husband are worth about $230 million.

Is the White House demolition even legal?
I'm hardly leftwing, but Hillary is correct on this, it's not his <deleted> house to do with whatever he wants. All presidents are required submit plans to various agencies to get approval to make changes to the White House. He just started tearing things down without any approval. Just another example of his lawlessness. It will all have to be torn down when the prick is out of office and in prison (including his stupid monument to himself he's building) and restored to its original condition.

Is the White House demolition even legal?
It's not legal, but he's doing it anyway. It would sort of be like if you demolished your house and rebuilt it and told the building inspectors to go F themselves. Sadly, he will probably more or less get away with it. However, it appears he doesn't have the funds for this $250 million dollar boondoggle ballroom. What concerns me is that even if it goes to plan, it won't be done until AFTER the 2028 election and that's if he has no delays. I find it hard to believe he would put so much into this project if he wasn't planning on being the president post 2028, which of course is completely illegal. Things are going to absolutely explode in this country if he finds away to remain as president past this term. We'll know a lot more about his intentions during the 2026 midterms which I very much expect him to try and cheat because I think the Repubs are in for a drubbing. And to be clear, I am not a Dem but I think Trump is a disgusting POS.

Trump Considers Insurrection Act Amid Crime Concerns
I don't disagree with much of what you said. However, the US Supreme Court isn't entirely in Trump's pocket, I think they would quickly rule against him, even the conservatives (Supreme Cts. are historically very unpredictable). But even aside from that, the military would resist. They aren't trained for law enforcement and most of them despise Trump and think he's a clown and that Hegseth is just a frat boy. In general, they aren't going to allow themselves to be Trump's tool of oppression. However, I am deeply concerned about this and I think Trump will try to establish a police state or a dictatorship by declaring some type of emergency or manufacturing one, especially if he feels he will lose the midterms or if he can't cheat his way to victory. But as a friend told me, "there's a few million of us vets, and we're armed and trained and won't put up with that." The country will explode. Most of his supporters are either idiots or just deranged, but even for a lot of them, it would be a bridge too far, I think. And just in case anyone asks, I am not a Dem and have never voted for them. I just happened to think Trump is a scoundrel and a crook. The country will survive him (somehow). If he loses either house or especially both houses, he's in trouble as the House will gain investigatory power. Big cracks are appearing internally in MAGA. I think we've seen peak Trump.

Trump Considers Insurrection Act Amid Crime Concerns
Trump won't be able to successfully invoke the Insurrection Act based on the facts. People like Miller and his other neanderthal advisors are completely clueless. It was last invoked by president Bush I during the LA riots. The vast majority of Americans despise Trump and these numbers are growing.

Yes on Biden and no on Harris.

Anybody planning to go back to the US?
It's not as divided as people think. It was more divided during the late 1960s and early 1970s, of course there was no internet then. Then there was that nasty interlude between 1861 - 1865. Even during the American Revolution George Washington said something to the effect of "one-third are with us, one-third are against us and one-third don't care." Trump is a nightmare though.

Anybody planning to go back to the US?
Trump is no patriot, he just pretends to be to fool those who are simple enough to vote for him. Let's recall how he called those buried in Arlington "suckers" for getting killed for their country saying "I just can't understand it". One general replied, "I wouldn't expect that you would." Trump's loyalty is to himself and money. He's made close to $2 billion since he took office in January. Yeah, wear your silly hat with pride.

Trump Faces Heat Over Epstein Files After DOJ Meets Ghislaine Maxwell
The deal will be simple: keep your mouth shut about Trump and you will be home by Christmas. Say anything about Trump and you will die in prison. This is the most corrupt regime in US history.

Anybody planning to go back to the US?
I've visited close to 80 countries and some for stretches long enough to fairly call it "living there". I love Thailand but I would never want to live there. As for the US, millions of people are risking their lives to sneak in every year, so there must be some appeal. I am very concerned about the direction the US is taking under Trump. He appears intent on creating some sort of police state and taking away freedoms, but I don't think he will be successful although it's very concerning. As far as the UK, which I have visited probably 35 times over the last 50 years, NFW. Between Thailand, US and the UK, the UK would be dead last. In fact, in regard to all of Europe, I would judge it in the lower 25% of desirability as a place to live. Within the UK, if I had to choose, I would prefer Scotland, then Wales, then Northern Ireland and England last. The UK lost the plot some time ago and I presume that is why so many expats on this Board are British, because they don't want to live there. That being said, the UK does have some wonderful things about it like its pub culture, its marvelous history and the beauty of its countryside, especially on a sunny spring day. In fact, all countries have good and bad aspects. Just my two satangs.

Dealing with the inevitable demands for money from a Thai
Take it from someone who has been around the block with many Thai ladies spanning decades: The answer is "no, so sorry." And if she doesn't like it, I'd drop her like a bad habit. You're not her ATM. You can easily find a lovely replacement. As one old Thailand hand told me some years ago: "beautiful Thai ladies are like tuk-tuks, they are everywhere."
