  1. Peh Hock Hai was arrested on Friday as he passed through the "Green Channel" at Suvarnabhumi International airport after arriving from Singapore, the official said.

He couldn't go through the red channel could he... well maybe, double bluff?

Seriously though, are these people insane? Why would you carry drugs through SE Asia???

    Benfit: 100,000 baht (I don't know?)

    Potential loss: Your life.

Risk: People get caught regularly if not connected with the Thai army and police drug lords.

Agree + how do these mules guarantee they will actually get paid if successful ? not exactly working for nice people.

  2. I live here for 7 plus years now. I spend about 1,000 euro per month average, this is 48,000 baht. This includes 2 houses, my Honda motorcycle, my food (in and out doors) and a few beers and wine, my phones and internet, electricity, pets, visa fees, gardener and cleaning lady; no wife and no car and no illness insurance. It depends on your life style and your budget. Home cooking is cheap, so is the stuff at the market. So if your wife is working at night, do the cooking and safe money.

No wife = major saving :D

Yes, 40,000bt should be very adequate. It depends to some extent on whether her parents are still alive and on how many brothers and sisters there are. And nephews and nieces. Aunts and uncles. Cousins. Grandparents. Motor bikes........

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS POST . :)

  3. Lol ....I'm outta here....

(on Maxnet, most of time couldn't even connect lol) My page loads to TV are the same rate !!!

Here's Washington again for comparision on yes ToT dial up ..nope not maxescrement broadband ...TOT dial up !!!

Lol ...okay lower DL bigger UL and waaaaaaaaaayyyy better ping. Maxnet yer a bucnh of bandits and god help all with this ISP. Can't wait to get my TOT platinum tomorrow (same price same DL and UL) ...TOT dial up beats Maxnet Indy ....sad is'nt it ...LOL. I'm so happy i'm gone.

So for you TTT defenders out there ....think again. Indy 590+vat ....TOT dial up 3 baht for 2 hours ...errr ...mmmm ...well.

Should start a new thread eh "MAXNET INDY VERSUS TOT DIAL UP" ....my vote is for the latter :)

Can you remind me what the number (is it 1122 ?) , user-name and password is for TOT dial up ? I tried it the other week but it said incorrect user name / password , been years since I used it. Handy to have for emergency back up.

  4. Be careful buying Hp desktops. I bought one which had a hacked version of xp on it that was using 100 % cpu. I installed my own windows XP on it only to find there were NO drivers for the motherboard for XP only vista and the specs of these set-ups are barely enough to handle vista well.

  5. After struggling for half an hour to get my MP160 switched to English I found this topic on google. THANK YOU PARRYHANDY!!

NO problem glad to be of assistance. Took me 3 hours of changing drivers and general faffing about until I stumbled on it by total accident/desperation. :) They hid it well.

  6. Surely there are more deserving individuals than drug offenders for these prisons....i.e. murders, rapists, peadophiles....

I understand the need to keep drugs out of the prison but i always presumed that the REAL big drug offenders didn't use their product, just abused the people. Unless of course these super max prisons are for poor souls addicted to yabba etc and need kept away from it - surely a rehab, education and drug councellor would be cheaper and more appropriate and constructive for them....

Totally agree, but the sad truth is the "system" is to big and vested to be able to sit down and say "what a waste of time this drug war is "

I mean people take drugs and potentially harm themselves or not, and the answer is to throw them into a crowded , stinking jail for a long time to protect them ?

  7. I went into my local TT&T office to pay my bill and found out that they no longer process these there.

Instead I was told to go along to a Siam Commercial or Krung Thai Bank and pay.

Ok.......how about setting up a direct debit?

Blank looks in the office. None of the staff had a clue what to do.

Up until now I had never worried about popping into the Triple T(new name on the local office) to pay the bill as I made it into a shopping expedition but now I would like to set up a DD.

Anyone have how to do advice?

You can also pay at any Tesco lotus. It tells you on the back where you can pay.

Also the DNS issue is real in my area.I could not connect at all to any websites until 1am.Now ive changed the DNS settings it is working as before. :)

  8. Having the same problems, which is a shame because my internet has been relatively faultless for 1.5 years.Went into the office and got total denials of problems, nobody else complaining etc..Then I got the "must be your computer" line but I asked them if it was my setup then why does everything work between 1am and 9am and then suddenly nothing.

Time to look for alternatives methinks, any recommendations ?

PS noticed new equipment in the office in boxes with Jasmine internet CO on them so can confirm what the other poster said about the takeover is true.

  9. Have you lived in the village for at least 1 year before building the house ? How long have you been married ?

I would never build a house (or even hint that I would) in a place I did not know unless I had lived normally there for at least a year, probably longer, unless I had money to burn.

  10. If he is serving customers then yes .If he is paying the guy to train him with no "customers' involved then no.

Naam is correct though under the wording of the law.I know of a guy who has just been charged with singing at his own resort. They claim that the fact he was entertaining people by having a sing song on the stage constitutes work.Think about it, when you go to a bar/karaoke you pay for the privilege, they are arguing by singing he was taking away work from a Thai. Ridiculous, but under the wording of the law correct.

I pick up my daughters from school. Under the wording of this law I am doing something a Thai could be paid to do and it could be construed as breaking this law.

  11. Ironically I suspect this will lead to Consulates offering more expensive one year visas to a lot more people than who are currently getting them under the various interpretations of the rules. This will be interesting to see.

Lets hope so .I myself being married with kids +savings + under 50 would happily pay +15000 baht for a one year non O from Laos.

Last time I got a 2 entry tourist visa for free whereas before I was getting a 90 day Non O for 2000 baht. :)
