  1. While pedaling a conspiracy theory that Patel falsely arrested alleged DC pipe bomber Brian Cole Jr. as part of an elaborate “cover up,” Friend made disturbing remarks about bringing “God’s wrath” to punish him. “You better pray to Gaia or Vishnu or whatever your maker is, that real Steve Friend is never in a position to be an instrument of God’s wrath, because I will be merciful: I won’t give you a trial and a hanging,” he told The Kyle Seraphin Show on Dec. 5. “I’ll allow you to breathe every breath that your body will have for the rest of its natural life inside of a box, and then when it ultimately fades to black, that’s when real wrath begins.” https://nypost.com/2025/12/13/us-news/whistleblower-steve-friend-fired-from-fbi-after-veiled-threat-to-director-kash-patel/ A MAGA hero bites the dust.
  2. One of the reasons, if not the main reason, that Trump's tariffs haven't had as much of an effect on inflation as anticipated most likely is that, in effect, tariffs aren't nearly as high as they were touted to be.
  3. Actually, the price of used cars has skyrocketed, too.
  4. I thought it would be interesting to revive this thread to see what the various members said about what the consequences of hateful speech should be 3 long long months ago.
  5. Unlike the responsible Republicans who promised that slashing taxes wouldn't matter because the cuts would spur so much economic activity that the cuts would pay for themselves.
  6. Well, it worked for Trump in the last election.
  7. Are you being purposely obtuse? The whole point is that the middle class in America is under economic siege.
  8. Actually, I think it's your comments that have the kind of reputation that you ascribe to Chinese goods. You're living in the past like so many right wingers. I used AI to see what kind of reviews BYD's cars. get . The summary was at the cars themselves get very good ratings but customer service tends to be poor.
  9. It matters when not just the poor but even middle income citizens suffer because of the policies that create it.
  10. Yes they do. And that's because their total share of earnings has increased. You know, incoming equality.
  11. It's such a failure that Republicans are scared as sh*t about the electoral consequences of their failure to extend ACA benefits.
  12. What are you on about? In terms of income equality every developed nation is doing better than the United States. And Trump's tax cuts during his first term and now on the second, combined with the new tariffs are making it worse
  13. Is it happening in every country? Out of all the nations with developed economies, the United States ranks at the bottom of income disparity. Although, I guess for billionaires and such, they would say it ranks at the top.
  14. China is rejecting Nvidia's H200 AI chip in favor of domestically developed semiconductors, according to White House AI czar David Sacks. Sacks said China wants semiconductor independence and is poised to limit access to the chips via a local approval process. The rejection of the H200 chip raises questions about whether Nvidia will be able to recover revenue from China, a market it has removed from its forecasts. https://archive.ph/6e3tP#selection-1617.0-1629.156 I wonder if this means that China is close to making chips that can match the performance of Nvidia's H-200s.
  15. What has this got to do with the fact that the wealthy have reaped most of the gains from increased productivity?
  16. The other half of our affordability conundrum is income, because the median income of Americans, after inflation, has been stuck since 2019. In 2024 dollars, the median household income was $83,260 in 2019, and $83,730 in 2024—and prices for food, housing, rent, and electricity have risen faster than overall inflation. To more fully grasp the affordability story, consider that incomes have two major components: earnings from work (“labor income”) and income from assets (“capital income”). .. But here’s another affordability puzzle: Productivity increased 10.4 percent from 2019 to 2024, or about 2.1 percent per year, but incomes stalled. That’s stronger than the 1.7 percent average annual productivity gains in the 1980s, when incomes rose nicely, and nearly as strong as the 2.4 percent average gains in the 1990s, when incomes grew at the fastest rate in decades. https://washingtonmonthly.com/2025/12/02/affordability-crisis-trump-maga-policies/ The author notes that while wages at all levels increased very little, income from investments soared by nearly 30%. In other words the top 10% got just about 88% of the increased revenues. And most of that came from companies that were part of that 10.4% increase in productivity.
  17. I remember how Trump supporters called for people who who made unkind comments about the death of Charlie Kirk to be ostracized and fired from their jobs for making such low comments. I am sure that in light of these comments from President Trump, they will be calling for him to be fired, too.
  18. https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115724141568860081 Trump doubles down on 'deranged' Rob Reiner comments - President Donald Trump publicly defended his controversial initial comments on the murder of Hollywood actor-director Rob Reiner, calling the director "deranged" and "very bad for our country" in an Oval Office statement. "Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned," he stated. "The Russia hoax, he was one of the people behind it. I think he hurt himself career-wise; he became like a deranged person—Tr@mp D*rangement Syndr_me—so I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country, he added. https://www.foxla.com/news/trump-comments-deranged-rob-reiner
  19. Here's a link to a comment made by the original poster in another thread. You'll note his use of the phrase "Special Military Operation" which is the Orwellian formulation that Russians are legally obliged to call the war that Russia launched against Ukraine. If they call it a war, which, after all, is what it is, that's a crime for which they can be prosecuted and imprisoned. What's Connda's excuse?
  20. You sure about that? https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2025/06/23/views-of-russia-and-putin-2025/
  21. You sure about that? Here's something from the Marxists at Rupert Murdoch's Wall St. Journal: How a Tech-Savvy Officer Finally Cracked the Jan. 6 Pipe-Bombs Case Investigators used powerful tools to obtain mountains of data, but couldn’t decipher some of it until recently "For four years, a tranche of cellphone data provided to the FBI by T-Mobile US sat on a digital shelf because investigators couldn’t figure out how to read it, people familiar with the matter said. The data turned out to be essential to cracking the case, the people said, a breakthrough that happened only recently when a tech-savvy law-enforcement officer wrote a new computer program that finally deciphered the information. That move led to the arrest of 30-year-old Brian Cole Jr. at his home in Northern Virginia, where he had been quietly living with his mother and other relatives." https://archive.ph/Mw3d5#selection-531.0-535.110
  22. No, the lying with reckless abandon was yours claiming that they lied but without offering ant actual information to back your claim up. Instead you offer a silly joke. You've got nothing.
  23. Moronic. It's true that anarchists want to take down the U.S. government. It's also true that anarchists want to take down every government.
  24. China’s economic momentum slowed broadly in November, with a marked weakening in consumer spending, adding pressure on Beijing to stabilize household and business demand in the world’s second-largest economy... China’s retail-sales growth slowed to its lowest level since 2022, while investment and the property market continued to deteriorate, according to data released Monday by China’s National Bureau of Statistics... China’s economic growth has defied expectations this year, but expansion has been driven in large part by strong exports, while other pockets of the economy, such as investment and the property market, have struggled. https://archive.ph/v0tI9 One of the main reasons for trying to strength in exports, if not the main reason, is that it keeps its currency at a depressed level. Good for exports but bad for Chinese consumers. And as long as they continue to do that, talk of a BRICS currency replacing the dollar is just talk.
