  1. And so long as Israel refuse it's duty to occupy the territories and function as an interim government it can always make that claim.
  2. Well, call it what you want, but the United States did offer huge financial assistance to Germany after the war. It was called the Marshall Plan. And it was in the enlightened self-interest of the USA and in the interest of other European nations that it did so. Compare that to the vindictive Treaty of Versaille the consequences of which helped lead to World War 2.
  3. No, Trump hasn't finally ordered the release of the Epstein files. He has said he will sign the bill that stipulates the Epstein files be released. Let's wait and see what happens once the bill is signed.
  4. Sure. That's why administration officials were reaching out to the 3 Republican women who had signed on toe the discharge petition. They even had Lauren Boebert over to the White House situation room for what? A Koffee Klatch? (Or maybe for a drinking contest?) And only after it looked inevitable that the discharge petition was going to pass, did Trump endorse the bill. But thanks for sharing with us your version of an alternative reality.
  5. I went looking for the story on the Fox News home page. I did that to forestall the usual tactic of the wing fanatics here of discounting news if it comes from the NY Times, Washington Post etc. Anyway, it wasn't featured. I guess this way they can claim that they covered the story but keep their viewers ignorant of it.
  6. Judge orders DOJ to give Comey grand jury records, citing prosecutor's misconduct A judge on Monday ordered the Department of Justice to hand over grand jury material to former FBI Director James Comey, an unusual move that the judge said was necessary because of the department's "highly unusual" activity during the secret grand jury proceedings. Magistrate Judge William Fitzpatrick scolded the DOJ in the order for what he said was a glaring mishandling of evidence presented to grand jurors and possible misstatements by the case's lead prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan. "The Court is finding that the government’s actions in this case — whether purposeful, reckless, or negligent — raise genuine issues of misconduct, are inextricably linked to the government’s grand jury presentation, and deserve to be fully explored by the defense," Fitzpatrick wrote. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/federal-judge-orders-doj-hand-over-grand-jury-material
  7. Trump doesn't agree with you: Trump defends Tucker Carlson after interview with antisemitic activist Nick Fuentes US President Donald Trump brushes aside concerns about conservative commentator Tucker Carlson’s recent interview with Nick Fuentes, a far-right activist known for his antisemitic views and Holocaust denial, which has caused a schism within the Republican Party. Trump defends Carlson, saying the former Fox News host has “said good things about me over the years.” He did not criticize Carlson or Fuentes. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/trump-defends-tucker-carlson-after-interview-with-antisemitic-activist-nick-fuentes/ Ya gotta love the reason why he defended Carlson.
  8. What makes this especially convincing is that Carlson has so much to gain from endearing himself to his fan base by saying he believes that Trump is a pedophile.
  9. He said they don't sell food. "Out of its estimated $23 billion in revenue, about 36%, or approximately $8.28 billion, stems from real estate investment rather than food sales. " What is there about this sentence that leads you to believe that he got it right.
  10. False: From the article: "The connection between McDonald's success and its expansive real estate portfolio is reflected in its financial results. Out of its estimated $23 billion in revenue, about 36%, or approximately $8.28 billion, stems from real estate investment rather than food sales. This model highlights McDonald’s ability to thrive on property ownership." It may be that all or most of its profits come from real estate deals and sales of franchises, but that's a different issue.
  11. Economists call it a symptom of the stark wealth divide Prices have risen so high at the iconic fast food chain that traffic from one of its core customer bases, low-income households, has dropped by double digits, McDonald's chief executive Christopher Kempczinski told investors last week. Meanwhile, traffic from higher-earners increased by nearly as much, he said. The struggle of the Golden Arches — long synonymous with cheap food for the masses — reflects a larger trend upending the consumer economy and making "affordability" a hot policy topic. McDonald's executives say the higher costs of restaurant essentials, such as beef and salaries, have pushed food prices up and driven away lower-income customers who are already being squeezed by the rising cost of groceries, clothes, rent and child care. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/mcdonalds-losing-low-income-customers-110000082.html The article doesn't disclose the income level of those higher earners. I suspect that they are people who used to be able to affording eating at higher priced places and are reducing their expenditures. I don't think that billionaires are now flocking to it.
  12. Trump does Epstein U-turn as House Republicans prepare to spurn him President Donald Trump is suddenly reversing his monthslong campaign to bottle up a bipartisan effort to disclose federal records dealing with Jeffrey Epstein — just as scores of House Republicans prepare to defy his demands concerning the late convicted sex offender. “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax,” he wrote Sunday night on Truth Social, adding, “I DON’T CARE! https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/16/jeffrey-epstein-vote-house-republicans-00652460 Does the DOJ actually need the Congress to give it permission to release those files? All along, all it should haven taken was the say-so from Trump.
  13. Evidence shows DHS claims about deportations since January are not accurate Homeland Security says its agents have deported more than 500,000 undocumented immigrants since January and that the vast majority are criminals. There's evidence this is not accurate. https://www.npr.org/2025/11/09/nx-s1-5599987/evidence-shows-dhs-claims-about-deportations-since-january-are-not-accurate Because this is a transcript it's difficult to get a quote that encapsulates the essence of the tax. Basically, it notes that the Administration refuses to release info that backs up its claims. After digging through records that got released by some researchers, it's clear that deportations are nowhere near that level. "We're still looking at fewer than 7,500 removals a week. That's a lot of people. It's a lot of people, but it's nowhere near the number that you would need to have gotten to 500,000." And the same goes for the claiims of self-deportations. One would think that the Administration would be happy to provide proof of their claims if such proof existed.
  14. Jaywalkers, particularly. if they get run over by a vehicle, that's because they were asking for it!!!
  15. Trump's tariffs are costing companies. Keeping up with them may cost even more. Businesses from Wall Street to main street are struggling to comply with President Donald Trump’s byzantine tariff regime, driving up costs and counteracting, for some, the benefits of the corporate tax cuts Republicans passed earlier this year. Trump has ripped up the U.S. tariff code over the past year, replacing a decades-old system that imposed the same tariffs on imports from all but a few countries with a vastly more complicated system of many different tariff rates depending on the origin of imported goods.... And the still unknown outcomes of ongoing trade investigations that could lead to additional tariffs on pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, critical minerals, commercial aircraft, polysilicon, unmanned aircraft systems, wind turbines, medical products and robotics and industrial machinery continue to make it difficult for many companies to plan for the future. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/11/16/trump-tariffs-ceo-company-resources-00651968
  16. I don't see what this has to do with the issue of the Dept. of Homeland Security diverting resources to rounding up illegal immigrants. If you want to start a topic about how the Dept is failing to go after certain classes of illegal immigrants, you should do it.
  17. The fact is you offer no counter arguments to the issue of composition. Instead you make it personal which is a sure sign that you've got nothing.
  18. Enhanced geothermal energy, a reliable, zero-carbon source, is attracting significant investment from Big Tech and high-powered investors to meet the massive energy demand spurred by the AI boom. By borrowing advanced drilling technologies from the oil and gas industry, enhanced geothermal aims to make the energy source abundant and financially feasible in virtually any location on Earth, not just geologically active areas. Both US public and international energy forecasts predict a dramatic increase in geothermal's share of the global energy mix, with potential growth of up to 300 gigawatts in the US by 2050 and over 800 gigawatts globally. https://oilprice.com/Alternative-Energy/Geothermal-Energy/The-AI-Boom-Is-Driving-a-Massive-Geothermal-Energy-Revival.html It is somewhat ironic that techniques developed for fracking are now being used to compete against the fossil fuel industry. Apparently it's already economically competitive. "According to Lazard’s levelized cost of energy (LCOE) research, the LCOE of geothermal on a per MWh basis ranges from $61-$102. By contrast, the MWh LCOE of nuclear power ranges from $141-$221, while coal spans from $68-$166 and gas peakers range from $115-$221. This analysis underscores the promise of geothermal — it is half the cost of nuclear, the other major source of carbon-free, firm power, and both cheaper and cleaner than coal and gas peaking." https://fervoenergy.com/geothermal-myth-3-geothermal-is-too-expensive/ There's another project underway that plans to drill much much deeper. A company called Quaise Energy is using something called a gyrotron to "drill" holes possibly up to 20 miles deep. The deeper you go, the hotter it gets. If that turns out to be achievable, that means virtually everywhere on land and the shallower parts of the sea can can be a source of power https://www.quaise.com/
  19. Even if you used the level it was at in the first quarter of 2021, it's not me or those who understand the issue of composition like candide who are F-ing dense or playing at it.
  20. And people who actually commit those crimes should be punished. But anyone who has paid any detailed attention to these cases knows that Comey didn't actually do what the government alleged and that James' mortgage contract specifically allows her to rent the home provided it's not done through a third party We also know that several inspectors who were investigating the legality of Bill Pullte providing confidential documents to the DOJ got fired.
  21. Expect the Comey and James Indictments to Be Dismissed Without Prejudice In the end, there just is not a good answer to the question. I’m speaking of a question posed by Judge Cameron McGowan Currie to the government lawyers who are slated to try the Trump Justice Department’s prosecutions of former FBI Director James Comey and incumbent New York Attorney General Letitia James... Judge Currie wanted to know why, if Attorney General Pamela Bondi had legitimately appointed Halligan as interim U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVa), it was necessary for the AG, over a month later, to make a second appointment under different statutory authority — which Bondi tried to backdate to a time before the Comey and James indictments. https://archive.ph/VgH4U So McCarthy expects the government to try again to indict. Even though the statute of limitations would ordinarily mean the end of the case, Federal law allows a 6 month extension if an indictment is brought but is then overruled. However there still remains the weakness of the evidence itself and the fact that the government never clearly stated what the crime allegedly committed by Comey actually was.
  22. The Department of Homeland Security has diverted thousands of federal agents from their normal duties to focus on arresting undocumented immigrants, undermining a wide range of law enforcement operations in response to mounting pressure from President Trump, a New York Times investigation has found. Homeland security agents investigating sexual crimes against children, for instance, have been redeployed to the immigrant crackdown for weeks at a time, hampering their pursuit of child predators. A national security probe into the black market for Iranian oil sold to finance terrorism has been slowed down for months because of the shift to immigration work, allowing tanker ships and money to disappear. And federal efforts to combat human smuggling and sex trafficking have languished with investigators reassigned to help staff deportation efforts. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/16/us/politics/dhs-agents-reassigned.html Child predators, terrorists, and sex traffickers can rest a lot easier thanks to the newly diverted Dept. of Homeland Security. Chasing down illegals is so much more...ahem...diverting?
  23. Replying to your comment about it. Your reply only confirms my suspicion that you don't actually know what it is you write.
  24. In the case of anti-obesity pills, depending on how much the government pays for the pill, and who is deemed eligible to get them, huge savings could be realized in Medicare and Medicaid due to lower rates of diabetes, heart disease and some other conditions as well including possibly drug and alcohol addiction.
