  1. I bet they are practically swarming over themselves in order to be first in the flood waters. Perfect getaway.
  2. It is like everything they do here, it starts off with an "idea" then anyone and everyone pitches in with their own ideas and eventually ruin everything. They try to be smart, but unfortunately, being smart does not appear to be a natural asset of most governments.
  3. You need to get in touch with Microsoft, I had a problem when Skype closed and I still had money in the account. Not exactly a perfect solution, but the agent from MS set me up with an "ONLINE KEYPAD" and that is all it is, no bells or whistles. They basically transferred my balance to this keypad so that I can use up my outstanding balance.
  4. I believe you can pay 500 Baht and get it the same day at CM.
  5. U-Turns and not/ or not not selling booze between 2 and 5 pm.
  6. Of course it will be worth it by the time they have fiddled every cent that they can squeeze out of it, why else would they even bother?
  7. Usually you find this level of incompetence at smaller regional airports in the UK, the staff have very little experience of people travelling further than Spain so are worried about making a mistake and the airline getting shafted for thousands of dollars returning the unwelcome guest back home. You can kind of understand their predicament, they are shafted either way. You would however think that they would at least have a competent supervisor around to make the final SENSIBLE decision. Take care of your passport! My wife and me used to fly UK to China regularly, but almost every time the UK staff would only board us as far as Thailand (My wife is Thai ) as they were terrified of us being refused entry in China due to my wife's passport being in her maiden name but her China visa had her married surname, both the Thai and Chinese immigration found this hilarious, and had no intention of refusing entry.
  8. Give them booze, booze and more booze, serve it up 24 hours a day, make it free to under 12's.
  9. They will be pouring bottles of booze down the tourists necks at the arrivals gate soon.
  10. Seems Japan now suffers from "quality tourists"
  11. At last Thailand has nationally recognised pussy! Recognition for all their hard work! We thank you all.
  12. Imagine that! Who would have thought it - just by simply removing the alcohol ban, the tourists are flocking to their doors. Absolutely fantastic that in 24 hours tourism has had such a massive boost. Just think of all those long haul tourists that were already on their way, blissfully unaware that they will form part of Thailand's massive 2pm-5pm tourist number increase, you couln't have made it up could you?
  13. Where is the "Public Outcry?" Oh you mean the usual suspects - "Campaign for Protection from the Dangers of Alcohol Drinking" Now there's a surprise, the temperance brigade spouting misery. Don't dare enjoy yourself on holiday in front of this bunch, you'll be wearing a hair shirt and flogging yourself in public if they had their way.
  14. Just a quick update - In the end, Corsair did the right thing. They contacted me again on Tuesday, (they had sorted out Thai customs with the "No Commercial Value on my Commercial Invoice) I was supposed to get my "replacement - refurbished) PSU next Tuesday. Well DHL delivered it yesterday. Only problem now is no one dares to plug it in in case it goes off with a bang. Anyway, persistence paid off in the end, shame it took such a roundabout way to resolve issues.
  15. If the bloody idiots stopped changing step every five minutes they might have a chance. Currently, we have booze ban, booze ban lifted, fine the sellers, no, now fine the tourists, no one knows where they stand at all, and that is just to buy a bottle of beer. Who on earth is going to risk ruining their holiday trying to comply with the Charlie Caroli style of government. Come to Thailand, buy a beer on Monday, no problem, buy one on Tuesday 30K fine, fantastic, way to go.
  16. Yeah, good luck indeed trying to convince them to sell you booze (7/11 usually will at night time - they put the money to one side then ring it through the next day) If you take a look at the existing law, you are legally allowed to purchase booze at all of the major stores during the 2pm-5pm, there is a sign in Tesco, Big C etc. But you have to be buying a larger quantity, and it is supposed to be a type of "Wholesale" Just try getting them to sell it though, not a cat in hell's chance.
  17. Scrap the booze ban? Whatever would the morally superior locals have to complain about? Heck, they will have to get their spy cameras out and go hunting down foreigners having amorous liasons on a dark beach.
  18. Hurry it up then, hammer that last nail down hard, that's the way, yes, you've finally killed it! Well done.
  19. Why do they have to complicate everything until it just falls flat and fails? We have to suffer the continuous "headline news" everyday about tourist numbers, and if you complain about the quality of the news stories, you get banned! Then we get the usual proposals to restructure the alcohol laws, and initially it all sounds good and makes sense. Then it begins, every Tom Cobley and all has to have their tuppence worth, and the rollercoaster of stupidity is off! Within about 4 days, they had trashed the original plan and backtracked as usual, now the proposals regarding alcohol sales have ended up in an even bigger mess than when they began - They do this with every single scheme or idea that flashes into their comatose heads as they sleep. Why bother? I genuinely believe that they are lacking any confidence, they come up with an idea (usually someone else's and usually from outside Thailand. Then they have a bit of a double take and decide that they need to put their own "personal Thainess" stamp onto the project. This would or could work in a Real Country, where they have developed everything over hundreds of years of evolution. But when you have no history of infrastructure, no manufacturing of your own, no planning skills and no technical prowess, then there is nothing there to base the project on. So now everyone has there little contribution, everything becomes over complicated and in the end it just crumbles into dust, along with their second hand dreams.
  20. No, you have to go on the date they gave you, and if you go late, you will qualify for an overstay stamp to decorate your passport. (and it carries a fine, I think 500 Baht per day_)
  21. Makro is selling some pretty good Cod Fillets in their frozen section, 117 Baht a kg for Atlantic Cod, buy a few beers, get the chip pan on, beef fat or Pork Lard, go a bit exotic and use some Tempura, fantastic!
  22. The Outcast Formerly Known as "The Golden Boy" of the RTP, sadly manipulated and coerced into being the Anti Christ when his plans offended more "important" people.
  23. Thanks for that link Crossy, I have tried it and used various combinations of the "O" and "0" along with "1" and "I" and "l" but nothing works, all I get is that it is not in the system and that I need to telephone them. Thanks for your help, but it seems like I am stuck with this exploding house brick / paperweight, anyone want it? Nice ornament, cover the postage and it is yours to own forever!
