Trump Tower at Soi Watboon Jomtien is a thing
Why do you say that? A random shot of the front shows have dozen customers mid day

The Rats are Leaving the Corrupt and Failing Trumptanic
Because you could do a better job running the nation. I would absolutely love to know what you do for income, your net worth, education. My guess is you're dependant on state welfare. You exist only in this subforum and are the very definition of a troll. You appear to spend endless amounts of time on this forum shouting down the opinions which you disagree with. Quite obvious you're mentally ill. Putting aside the fact you are apparently an active supporter of a terrorist group and you are a male that identifies as a female. That's a lot to unpack. Nah, you sit on this forum and yell into the ether.

If you're going to insult someone like that it would look less cringe if you didn't misspell words. Makes you appear like an overly emotional woman. Maybe change the username to Karen Nauseous

What minimum balances do you keep in Thailand?
I let my wife handle 95% of online transactions. We only have electric as utility. If I want something from Lazada I just give her the cash. I remain out of the system. Not had credit cards in decades. Rhetorical question.. expats using credit cards for insurance.. I guess not worried having high balance and then kicking the bucket. That would leave the wife with a mess back home, even here. Last trip to US I decided not to renew drs license. Not owned a car in decades. I did get an ID. It came down to not wanting to fk with the long line at DMV. Need to sort my finances so I no longer need to return

Alas, I Knew Ye Well.. Your Parting Words On Navigating Thailand
I really didn't know where to put this odd sort of question, so here it is. For all you octagenerians+, old timers here, dead enders, military vets, those in ill health with only downward trajectory What parting words can you leave us with that might assist navigating Thailand and our lives here going forward. Note: This is aimed at Thai expats IN Thailand and not a random thread for geezers to moan especially from abroad. It's meant to be a positive possible although cautious query on your decades here in Thailand. So, let's have it... We've lost so many. Many have passed, many find the current climate a bit toxic perhaps. Move along Bob Thank you 🙏

What minimum balances do you keep in Thailand?
Everything probably was in order, too much so. The home surely could have been given to her prior to his death. The minute people die the knives come out. People revert to animal nature. Trusts are the worst. I can definitely see ex wives trying to get in, but no one knew this lady. She's just a *that foreign prostitute in Thailand that wants Bob's money*. Some not even more cynical and willing sue bc they simply can The longer I'm abroad the more people not living abroad just seem like strangers and aliens. We are so very different. TBH I've never known anyone here that didn't get shafted on inheritance back in home country including myself. Anyway, let's not change direction of the thread.

What minimum balances do you keep in Thailand?
Thanks. I've written the will. The amphor says that they will accept it and have provided me with some simple instructions. I need to pull some instructions together how to navigate all that nonsense for my wife. I've no clue. I'm planning on having all my assets in Thailand and in my bank easy to access and transferring everything in my last year, months days whatever. That's the plan lol Sorry about your friend -

Wise move all directions 👍 When I start to seriously age especially if and when I become ill I'm going to see that my funds are all over here for my wife. I have no descendants and not worried about that but it's avoiding a tangle

Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
Thanks that's good info. I think I should be able to push the money to Wise. It's just not the priority at the moment. I'll have more questions about that and weeks or months I think that credit card union is located in San Diego and I'll try and set that up when I'm back in States I'm a dead-ender here and running out of addresses in US. I'm down to one 🙏🙏

Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
ANYONE... How many months prior to when I want to receive the funds should I apply online (followed by form to Manila)? Is 2.5 months ok? But I'll receive the money an additional month later correct?! I wanted to time it to coincide trip to USA. Apply Jan 10 for payout end March? But it won't come until even early May?? I can apply up to Dec 4 - better? Sorry I have this question I have nuts in the Social Security website in depth.

Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
Are you aware if there is an actual rule - no ATM card attached to acct for social security deposits? Is it just a BBL rule? Maybe I'll just use BBL for the transfer after reading this unless someone can clarify Thanks
-
Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
That's the way my BBL account is set up. I just get a pile of cash every so often. My life is so simple I don't need online banking. I don't even need a ATM card tbh. I love cash. Cold, hard, anonymous cash ... So, this will be a problem for my SCB account? I'm really not liking BBL lately well never 555 I can move the money around to other banks to free up BBL account/s for incoming SS funds When I fill out the form should I be certain I use a bank account that does not have ATM to avoid initial problems?? I'll always have to file FBAR bc I keep money for medical here. But bc It's the highest balance of the year moving the money from bank to bank effectively doubles the amount of money. It's honestly never been a problem but it just looks funky and it's not The actual amount that I have So it bugs me.

Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
I have a typical SCB account with a card already attached. Will I need some special account for the transfer,? In the past I'd read yes, but now lately no. Your detailed information has me concerned. I don't think I need a new account?? ?

Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
I plan on opening a wise account and wanted to ask some questions, but keep those separate from this one. My bank connects only to Zelle and domestic only. Looking at the wise app I should be about to do a transfer to wise (I think it's ACH)? I'll bring over additional money in this manner. If I can't transfer to Wise from my bank I've got a real problem. Not immediate, but serious. Bc the bank is so local it just blocks international services these days. It's ultra security minded. Trouble is best security is just NO. The in person wire transfer is absolutely ridiculous. Just let my 401ks ruminate and spend down the community bank balance. Thank you
-
Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
There's no problem per se, but if I bring the money in quarterly or twice a year I can watch the cross rates and hopefully get better forex I want to simply have it sent to my SCB account for which I have ATM card already. This is the account I use for monthly spending

Thanks, you're always so helpful 🙏🙏 I'm hoping when I set it up online I can add it there and no call is needed.

Social Security Monthly Deposit Thailand - I'm clueless
I'm pretty dim when it comes to international transfers. In fact, I've never done any sort of transfer in thirty years in Asia. I've made a bit of money here over the years and money from stage I used to carry in to get a better rate. Anyway... My US community bank now requires my physical presence to do a wire transfer, so I'm pretty much screwed in trying to deposit a large lump sum when US currency favors it. So, I'd like the money just sent here. I guess as a bonus it will be marked as Social Security in coming and there won't be any question whether it is tax-free in Thailand or not. I have the routing and account number. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how I notify Social Security? Is that a phone call or when I sign up will there be an online form (and can I add international bank)? Will they send a tiny test deposit (no)? Two options: 1. If I deposit to Bangkok Bank then I will just have to pull much if not all of it out monthly and put it in SCB anyway. This also creates a bubble on my FBAR. 2. After doing some reading here I find that I can actually deposit the money directly into SCB. As Bangkok Bank has a bank in New York is it easier to do this deposit? How can I go about getting the money deposited directly to SCB? I'll be signing up for Social Security January along with Medicare I can never use lol Thanks for any assistance.

Thailand Urged to Reinvent Tourism with Independent Board
Pushing up prices doesn't increase the quality of tourists lol. Thailand should get luxury tourism out of its head outside offering it to the middle classes. It's failed for two decades. It's too random and dangerous for people with real money Thailand has been and always will be a cheap destination for working and middle classes. If people care about the quality of their warm holiday they'll go to Florida or Caribbean

Thailand Urged to Reinvent Tourism with Independent Board
Agreed In fact, it's approach to everything is completely off. I can't think of anything it gets right completely. Much these days littered with government scams, laws.. One thing it really should do is promote retirement and retirees here from Western countries. That's stable income flowing into the country. Another thing is really cracking down on Chinese, Israeli, etc behavior be it felonious or just alcohol and drugs. Need to go scorched earth on organized crime. I could make a list of dozens of things they do wholly wrong these days but why
