  1. Hello I have a 5 year old Z250SL which has almost done 10K. I don't live here that much these days and was out during quite a lot of the pandemic. Recently I noticed an occasional low pitched squeal/groan when I turn at low speed. My question is should I just take it to the Kawasaki dealer (Chiang Mai) or to my old mechanic who used to repair my original CBR150 who I met when he worked for Honda before setting up his own shop. Summarising, is it a simple job than any mechanic should be able to diagnose and fix?
  2. I found if I open this page: https://sport.trueid.net/premier-league and then do a browser search for พรีเมียร์ลีก เต็มแมตช์ I will get a series of thumbnails.
  3. Hi Is there a way to start a full replay of a game from the browser? I want to watch the Villa v Arsenal game tomorrow morning without seeing the score. I can just about manage it on the Android TV version by knowing the sequence to press on my remote whilst not really looking at the screen. It's great that BeIN sport's catchup is spolier free, wish more "broadcasters" would do the same.
  4. A friend of mine just arrived in Chiang Mai and so I was going to suggest he try withdrawing cash inside a branch with his Wise card. I haven't done that for a while so does anyone know if Bangkok and Kaskikon still do that?
  5. Dear Applicant, Visa application on hold. Please email the following document(s) to [email protected], quoting your passport number on the email subject title. - Flight details showing applicant’s name, departure date, all flights en route from UK/Ireland/UK territories to Thailand and onward flights to another destination.) E-ticket. *Please note this is an auto generated e-mail. Please do NOT reply to this email. Best wishes, E-Visa Team So on Friday I received this. The ticket I had uploaded was a flight from DEL to CNX via BKK. I guess as I had stated I was in the UK at the time of applying that they wanted proof of this so I emailed my LHR to DEL ticket which is where I am now. I did respond that I didn't know that an onward ticket was a requirement and then a few hours later bought my real onward ticket back to India and emailed that. Last night I received emails informing me they had receive my documents and to wait a few days, this morning India time I received my e-visa.
  6. Thanks for all the advice. I made a decision about my travel date and bought my ticket. All submitted, pretty easy once you know how, hopefully it will be granted soon.
  7. In the past I would go to the embassy in Kensington but it seems it is e-visa only now. The supporting documents page is asking for : 3 . Travel booking confirmation Haven't booked yet as it is 2.5 months away but I am leaving the UK for India on the 25th so need to apply whilst I am still in the UK. 4 . Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand Uploaded a copy of my condo title deed 5 . A confirmation letter from employer, School, Self-assessment, Pension statement I have already stated I am retired though I am not at the official retirement age. I do have self-assessment but are they asking for proof income. 6 . Identity of the person inviting you to stay e.g. Thai ID card, Passport I could ask any of my Thai friends but seems an odd question. 7 . Financial evidence: amount of not less than 20,000 THB, e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter Uploaded a recent bank statement 8 . Document indicating current residency I recently used the front page of my UK tax return for this to open a new bank account in the UK but wouldn't the recent bank statement be enough. Strangely 5+6 are not in the list on this help page.
  8. All done, no charge. Kop khun kap Kawasaki.
  9. The reason for asking is that most search results talk about 1 year ED visas and I don't want to study Thai for a year nor have the time to spend that much time in Thailand in one go. From what I have read I would need to get a letter from an acredited school here that needs to be signed along with a copy of that person's ID card. I would be happy to study for 2-3 hrs a day Mon-Fri. I am in Chiang Mai and previously studied at Payap, YMCA and Cornerstone in that order. The reason for not just doing it on a tourist visa is that it would be helpful for me to get a Thai driving license for which I need an non-imm O visa. I always carry my IDP with an A motorcycle stamp which has been specifically checked twice in the last 2 weeeks but it would be nice to have the real thing. I assume once I have it I can keep it as long as I renew it as and when it is necessary.
  10. Is it possible to get a 3 month study visa with the intention to study for 3 months and then leave? I have been coming and going for the past 20+ years and have studied before but the most recent time was at least 15 years ago and my Thai plataued a long time ago. I feel I want to step it up to the next level as I've long since forgotten how to write and this is what I've been doing that for the other countries I spend time in but with DuoLingo. I am a UK passport holder currently in Thailand on a VE and would be planning to come back mid November after leaving next week.
  11. Today I went out to the my bike this morning the the visor on the helmet has developed a simillar patten although much less dense. It's almost spooky and I'm wondering if it is a new kind of virus and will it be me next, LOL.
  12. I didn't go eventually as my friends went back to England earlier than expected.
  13. I contacted Kawasaki on the main Thai website and received a reply a couple of days later, I responded with a photo and proof of ownership. They replied that I should take it to my local Kawasaki dealer in Chiang Mai which is where I bought it from, so I took it there this afternoon and they will, as it's a discontinued model, try to order the lens from Bangkok, and fit it for free. Thanks @Kwasaki for the sensible suggestion.
  14. Thanks for all the replies. I've visited Kawasaki in Chiang Mai several times since I noticed the problem at least once to ask how much for a replacement unit and no one said anything but I know that's not the same as asking. I will try contacting Kawasaki Thailand and send a photo. I will wait to see if I get a reply before attempting to polish the lens.
  15. Skype Out is what I use for calling home (UK). https://www.skype.com/en/international-calls/Australia
  16. I bought my Z250SL in July 2018, it has done 8500 km. I am only in Chiang Mai 4-6 months per year, when I am not here it is store inside my friend's guest house under a roof. The only report I could find online is here. Is it something to be concerned about as the replacement unit isn't cheap?

    UPS

In India where there are daily short blackouts <10s or up to 2 mins and common hour plus blackouts I have a 150 AH tubular inverter battery connected to an inverter fed by a voltage stabilizer. It will power my laptops and monitors for days but it's also connected to all of my AV gear and will still give a day's power. The battery itself weight 59 kg. Before the stabilizer I had anything up tp 260 V AC and as low as 120 V. In Chiang Mai I use a Zircon Smooth-i : 1200VA/720W as power is quite stable here and it only powers my gaming desktop.
  18. I have a friend here with her 18 year old daughter who came for medical treatmement. The daughter arrived on a 45 day visa exemption and has extended at immigration for 30 days. Her mother is not comfortable with her doing the crossing by herself so I would happily go with her, I arrived on the 14th May visa exemption. Her stay expires on the 29th May and her flight back to the UK is 12th June. Is there any reason we would be denied entry and could obviously ask at the immmigration post once we are there to be sure?
  19. Is this border crossing good for back to back visa exemption like the old days and consecutive VE entries but separated by months.

    Water Filters

Some more interesting info here: https://www.ecowater-softeners.co.uk/for-your-family/drinking-softened-water/ I am from England and live both in Chiang Mai, and in Dharamsala in the low Himalayas where the water comes from snow melt. As a proper tea drinker I love the water here and there, and always notice the poorer flavour when I am back in England visiting family who all live in the south with hard water.

    Water Filters

Boiling will remove the calcium from temporary hard water but not permanent hard water. In our chemisty lab at school many years ago we had an ion exchange filter for that. https://byjus.com/jee/hardness-of-water-types-and-removal/ Water Hardness Factsheet for teachers.pdf
  22. Hello Some friends of mine are coming to Chiang Mai tomorrow and staying in my condo, they will be extending their stay at immigration. As I am not in Thailand will they be able with my blue book or title deed and a signed copy of my passport be able to do their TM30s at immigration?
  23. I awlays partition my drive and so all data is on D plus I have other folders apart from Users on D too so I need to change the default options. Plus I think it's just a good idea to know where Windows is searching anyway but sure the defaul options work for most cases.
  24. Have you checked Indexing Options in Control Panel? I always set the folders I want searched each time I install Windows.
  25. Card arrived today, 13 days after I ordered it.
