  1. Thanks for the Rimping tip. Picked up a jar of Robertsons classic today, 275 Bt. Quite a mark up for something that only costs a pound in the old country but it is Christmas after all.
  2. Ordered on December 10th, arrived today, December 20th.
  3. Last year when I was stuck in the UK for Christmas and left it quite late to buy mincemeant I did look up a recipe but it seemed you needed to leave it to "develop" for a few weeks before using so I ended up with an ordinary jar of Sainsburys mincemeat rather than one that came out well in reviews. I've literally just arrived back in Thailand on Friday and Chiang Mai on Saturday and found a half used jat of Robertson's in the fridge from December 2019. I think that may have "developed" a little too much. I guess suet is probably even harder to source as my Christmas pud recipe requires it.
  4. Has anyone seen mincemeat anywhere in Chiang Mai?
  5. Is anyone using this on either an Android TV box or laptop plugged into a large screen TV? https://truevisions.co.th/package/Premier Football HD Plus
  6. I got mine from MisterPrakan. https://misterprakan.com/en/pass/thailand-pass Nepal Airlines cancelled my original flight and rescheduled it for a couple of week later and so I emailed the address on the certificate and received a new certificate with an updated start date a few hours later without charge. I considered that to be impressive service.
  7. I am finally hoping to be back home in Chiang Mai in a little over a week. ???? My ageing Minix U-9H is due to be replaced and whilst I did buy an nVidia Shield TV Pro, I decided to leave it back home in the UK as I wasn't completely sure I would make it to Thailand as I left the UK in October before Thailand actually opened. I've been interested in trying out one of the Ugoos boxes for a while as they seem one of the few boxes with actual firmware support other than Minix. https://ugoos.com/ugoos-am7-s905x4-amlogic-4gb-32gb https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003102593248.html If I order one from AliExpress will it get through customs. What happens if it doesn't? I did consider ordering another Shield from Amazon US but the price is about double. Any thoughts?
  8. Is there an Android app for the new forum?
  9. Site with good info about torrenting. https://torrentfreak.com/
  10. All my documents were accepted yesterday including 3 copies of the visa application form. Got called this morning and told to come in the afternoon to get my passport with visa. So happy to have made it through this tortuous process and looking forward to being back In Chiang Mai very soon. A little bit of helpful advice on the website might have saved me a few days but it took 2 weeks from the first email submission of documents to collecting the passport with visa inside.
  11. I finally have my appointment for my visa tomorrow at the embassy here in Kathmandu. I had to get the SHA+/ASQ hotel to provide a formal invitation not the Agoda booking. No onward flight as people have said. Got my Managers cheque from the bank today. I found some reasonable Thai covid insurance and so went ahead with the travel pass registration now I knew I could stay 60 days. Entered all my details and uploaded the required travel pass website and received my QR code in one minute. I had been calling the embassy daily about the visa trying to hurry them up because I thought the Thailand pass might take a week as had been the case for some people earlier. I guess they must have sorted out all the issues now and the process is completely automated.
  12. So I have been told by the Kathmandu embassy to email them 6 months of bank statements showing 20,000 Baht. I have just downloaded them but should I blank out part of the account number. The first lot of documents I sent in a zip file with a separate password which caused a bit of confusion at first. I also booked my ASQ hotel on Agoda and emailed the confirmation but they want an offiical ASQ form which I have now emailed the hotel for.
  13. Thanks for all the replies. I went up to the Thailand embassy in Kathmandu this afternoon and asked and was told I can apply as a UK passport holder but they don't use the e-visa system so I have to email all my documents and then I will get an appointment at the embassy by which point they said it should only take a day or two. NPR 5,000 /USD 42/THB 1380/GBP 30.
  14. From the first page: Submit to If applicant applies for a visa at the Embassy/Consulate in the country where the applicant does not have permanent residency, the visa approval process may take at least 1 month. (Permanent Residency is the resident status in a country of which you are granted a residence visa to stay for more than six months.) It seemed like it was a choice and as I didn't want to wait one month I chose my home embassy in London. I will call the embassy here tomorrow and ask if that is deinfitely the case and also ask how many days it should take.
  15. I'm a UK passport holder from the UK, currently on holiday in Nepal. I am planning to travel to Thailand on the 6th Dec so just started the e-visa application. After submitting most of the info I got to the last section and some of the questions are not clear. 5 . Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand 6 . Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, sponsorship letter 7 . Confirmation of legal residence in a country in which you are applying for the visa. (In case that you are not a national of the country in which you are applying for the visa.) 8 . Identity of the person inviting you to stay e.g. Thai ID card, Passport 9 . Applicant is required to upload his/her passport pages which contain all travel records for the past 12 months (1 year) since the last international trip. 10 . Applicant must apply for e-Visa via specific Embassy/Consulate conforming with his/her consular jurisdiction and residency. Applicant is required to upload document that can verify his/her current residency. I have a condo in Chiang Mai so I don't have a hotel booking. What sort of bank statements and for how long? As I am in Nepal, is a photo of my current visa enough? I could ask a friend to invite me. I have one trip to Cyprus in my passport. I don't know how to prove I am a resident of the UK. Any suggestions?
