HI Denim, thanks for reply, unfortunately ticket already bought, and if it wasn't the site requires the ticket, so almost have to get ticket before you apply.
I really don't want to have to do a run to Cambodia, to cover the overstay, I also don't want me to be logged on some computer as an " overstayer" because these days, that sort of info ( now computers are making the decisions more ) can mess things up in the future.
A Kafkaesque nightmare

Over the years been to Thailand 21 times (I have counted)
I have a son there.
Have bought ticket for December 2019 for 35 days, so look into getting single entry Tourist visa as per normal.
OH no, find out that since June 2019 need to join Thai E visa site and submit a whole load of info before being considered for an appointment ( or postal application ) to get said Visa.
How to complicate a relatively simple procedure into an absolute nightmare.
Beware, the site will lock you out countless times, and every time to try and log back in to continue, you will have to fill in name/password and one of those infuriating CAPTCHA type things.
The site requires bank statements, hotel bookings, proof of your residency in your home country, your passport, a photo as well.
Then you print out the declaration form, sign it scan it back into computer and send it back to site.
Now while all of this is going on, you will be suddenly locked out with “SITE ERROR”.
So you go back to start.
Also note, many of the mass of documents you scan will be rejected, for being wrong colour, too big, wrong extension etc., etc.
And all the while getting kicked from this badly programmed site, and beginning yet again.
Now how will it cope come Christmas.
I now face the reality that I may have to arrive in the simple visa on arrival, and then overstay for 5 days and pay a fine.
Even though I have spent 5-6 hours of my day off trying to solve this nightmare.
Also demanding bank statements for a simple holiday, and wanting hotel booking ( when most of us like to deal on the day with hotel, and move around depending on the situation, weather, etc. it is a holiday, not employment.
It just seems that at this early stage of Internet (relatively ) some people talk others into making complicated solutions to take care of simple problems, and failing miserably
If you are thinking of getting this, maybe better to use an agency, and keep sane.
If somebody doesn't have scanning facilities, I believe it would be impossible to continue in any form. And certainly after this , if wasn't for Son, I wouldn't put myself through this hassle ever again.
Thailand, do you want decent spending tourists ( who have proven they always leave !!), well you sure got a funny way of showing it buddy.
Best Dan

First off forgive me if this is the wrong forum, or if this subject has been covered a million times.
After six years away from Thailand, I am going back for visit.
I will state that for the last six years I have worked hard in the UK just trying to support everyone that has been involved in me,
I mention this, to counter the obvious questions relating to why have I been away from my Children for so long, I originally got back to the UK from Asia pretty broke, homeless, ( well you know the situation), and have started from scratch to build up a life.
Anyway a break from the relentless work has appeared, and I on the spur of the moment, thought, " It's about time I saw the kids I do support, ( they are aged 8 and 11 ) even if they will not be sure who I am ".
I haven't seen the mother in six years, and she will always remain close to my heart, but I am a realist and realise time has moved on.
So I planned my trip as to visit the kids, stay out of people's way, have a nice visit, meet the kids, and leave.
This trip was all booked last minute ( Court case finished early, I work in the courts, and next one not starting till May).
I contacted the Kid's mother first, just to check the lay of the land, all was well, so I booked.NOW, the subject of organising a Brit passport for the kids has reared it's head ( I leave in two weeks), I have been on line frantically searching for info, and it doesn't seem easy.
My one question I ask is this : Do I need to have a British professional person countersign the kids photographs ?
For obvious reasons that is impossible, my UK friends have only seen video /Skype calls or whatever, and they do not live anywhere near Thailandso is it possible to get a Thai professional ( who speaks English) to countersign these photographs ?, while out In Issaan ?
I do have a friends in BKK who are English, but not doctors/lawyers etc.
Anyway thanks for taking the time to read

Having been hospitalised in Thailand myself after a moron pulled out years back, this video makes me so angry and sad on so many levels.
What a waste of a young life, in what was a clear day , with very few discernible obstacles.
I still think about all those school kids perched on the top of busses flying along.
How <deleted> moronic, and surely a future video of this site.

A quick simple question.
For many reasons I haven't the time to get back to Thailand just yet.
I have promised I would always get the kids dual Passport.
I am wondering has anybody ever done this from England?
I know all about going out to Bangkok, with translated docs etc.
I am wondering if anybody has ever had the kids docs sent to U|K and done it from there.
Haven't seen this answered before, but if it has, sorry for your time.

I think both stories are sad, because they affect the kids, surely the "Thai wives" can fathom this will be the outcome ?
Considering how much Thais value family, are kids not family ?
In response to "old, bald man/ young wife what does he expect ?" this is not Thai specific, check out Bernie ecclestone, bless him.
Old as the world rich/poorer man/women.Myself after 18 years 4 kids marriage In the UK, I was left with nothing after split, and the wife decided she wanted to be a <deleted> ?
We accept that, because of kids, the man will usually be the one starting again.I arrived in Thailand pretty skint and broken hearted, and was very clear I was broke.
still met a young pretty girl, then had a stupid RTA she looked after me for 7 months till I could fly home, she even had to go and pick up a mass of cash from W.U sent by my parents ( as I couldn't move), she could have run off and left me stuck in rented room Trat ( she from Khorat)-
she didn't, now I have been back UK 7 years started up again.
we still chat, and I last went out 3 years ago to visit her, still friends.
Listen about new boyfriends, get a little jealous-weirdly, but that is life, and she is entitled to have one
If I was more wealthy I think I too would have married this girl and taken her to the UK, one of the finest people I have met anywhere in the world.
Don't Tar all Thais', sure the system is rubbish, but the main guy in this video seems a sensible sort, it is the system that needs changing.
It is the system that people need to be weary of. -

As we approach the ten year anniversary of the Boxing Day Tsunami,
I want to tell the story of my experiences with Thai people and particularly of the Thai people on Phuket, in what was a period of time I will never forget, for obvious reasons.
Since those days, it seems Phuket is always taking a hammering on here.
On December 11th 2004 my family and I (four kids, including one in a wheelchair) arrived in Nai Yang for a week or so before travelling south to Libong and then Lanta.
The kids loved Nai Yang so much I agreed that for my youngest daughter’s birthday 29th December we would be back in Nai Yang.
My oldest daughter had been helping out a beach side restaurant delivering plates etc. (she was only 12,) and the kids were all treated beautifully by the Thais
The hotels were all booked up but I found a Thai lady who had a beach side house for rental, so I paid her about £200 up front and we were due back 28th December to stay for a week or so.
Off we set on our trip.
On Lanta the Tsunami Hit, we spent the night up a hill with Thai Villagers, them giving water/fruit and accommodation, all free, all no strings, all done with a smile.
On arriving back in Nai Yang 28th, and seeing the state of the place you can imagine the shock.
What I will never forget is Thai people running up when we arrived and some ladies openly crying when cuddling the kids, and the fact that the kids were fine.
I then walked down to the beach house I had rented (see pictures)
And prayed thank god my kids were not in there on the 26th.
But this is the bit I want to highlight, against the never ending bad Phuket stories.
The lady was sat there waiting for me, she said she knew we were due today, so she had waited. She gave me back every single cent, she apologised for the condition of the house, she stated she had organised rooms for us in nearby Nai Thon, she then gave me the Keys to her 4x4 and said I would need it for the kids.
I had use of the car until we left, and try as I might the lady would not take a penny.
Since those far off days my marriage came to an end and funny enough a business partner moved full-time out to Thailand so I have since spent many a long month out there, BKK, Isaan even good old Pattaya. And sure there are crooks around, but I will never forget the kindness of Thais when needed.

Since the fine old days of 2006 when it seemed to be 75 baht to the £ and the living was good for expats on some brit income, I have since seen a good friend collapse and die from the stress of trying to keep up and stay out in Thailand, fearing return to the UK , due to burned bridges.
I love it East but please do not gamble, think shrewd, think logically.
Also as someone mentioned you really must budget for the expenses your wifes' family will require, it is just the way it is
If you hold back amazing how suddenly you'll feel alone
good luck,

Hi am back in UK at the moment, so impossible for me to do, anyway.
Yesterday a good friend called me ( knows I spend a good deal of time out there) to say that prince Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand came to his stall on Portobello road, purchased some items and had many pictures taken with the stock , his entourage and my pal.
Anyway friend was told some shots might well end up in the Thai press in the next few days.
I kindly ask if they do appear It would be great if somebody could do a scan and post
Thanks for this odd request

haven't read whole thread but I do rememeber 3 years ago i had a bad accident in Cambodia and ended up for months in trat hospital and post b&B recovering
and the immigration people down there could not have been more helpful, no back handers nothing.
ended up with about 5 months overstay all signed by them.
so my view is just come clean as early as you can, there is no excuse for just lazily overstaying,USA/UK would not tolerate
maybe thailand was just easier in the old days.
but ladies and gentleman since the 3 only land visa and then the 15 day down from 30 days I guess it is obvious which way it is going.
in the future computers will make everything more difficulat to try and bend slightly
sorry lecture over
love to all

I have listened to many/many conversations from lost europeans over in thailand, and the normal blurb is " she took me for everything boo hoo" at least the guy in the video is trying to make light of it.
And from what I can see it doesn't slate issan girls it just says " these are things you may well recognise, when you have gambled it all and find yourself on this rollercoaster".
for good or bad that is a ride many find themselves on.
Foolish-yes,
but i can think of worse things to do than make light of what can be a depressing situation for many

Hi knowledgeable people, I used to have a link to a website that instantly showed all current rates that the various thai banks were giving to all major currencies.
Does anybody know what this site was ? ( unfortunately can't remember the name was link in old laptop)

A kafkaesque Nightmare- The new E Visa System
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
HI thanks for answers.
Yes aware of extension, but I want to be out somewhere remote having holiday with son, nothing kills a buzz like having to trek to Town to do official stuff right in the middle of trying to relax.
Finally got its sorted , but remains one of the most infuriating sessions of my life.
Paid into a kasikorn bank in Thailand, now have to traipse into London for personal meeting.
ho hum.
