  1. When you speak of the checkpoint outside Mike shopping! sure as someone noted they are doing their jobs looking for drugs and guns! This is not the case. Just stand or have a seat inside Kiss and a quick bite to eat and take your onw survey! This check point is to do one thing ;get Falangs majority like the MidEasterns rent their bikes without ever being told they need a IDP, and the fly down Soi 2, it is a cash cow for the BIB HQ on Soi 9, at night they move to the corner of Pattaya Tai and Soi 2,

As for cars they are too scare to step in front! As in the west many of these guys are cowards with a badge! I never stop I just speed up!

    On the subject of I.D.P----

-I was told by my Local Office here in N.Z--that an I.D.P--is not required for tourists in Thailand--but it is a good idea -as it proves that my N.Z license is not fake---below is a section from Trip Advisor---is this correct ?? --can a Tourist really have a problem without an I.D.P--I have been stopped a few times in a rental--never once been asked for an I.D.P---but I will have one this time wai2.gif

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to the UN Traffic Act of 1949 and the Thai Traffic Act of 1979, an IDP is not required if you are a tourist/visitor in Thailand as long as your license is in English, has a photo, and your country is a contracting state of the 1949 treaty, which most are.

If you are a resident, however, you require a Thai drivers license. As a tourist, rental car companies, insurance companies and police will all accept your home license.

  2. Better idea! Tell everyone in your country Thailand ain't the place to stagger around in a drunken or drugged out haze!

Don't drink a lot --never when driving -or take drugs--but still got shaken down twice on way to Si Saket- in a rental car---one more time on the way back----tourist or not----wanted 400b with paperwork and visit to the local station --or 200b in the hand --and on my way---not much of a choice was there sad.png

They TOLD ME in no uncertain terms I was doing 130/140/50k---strange how I pulled over so easily when flagged down--in truth 80/90k. it does leave a sour taste--getting ripped off for a non-offence bah.gif

  3. A couple of years ago-- a hotel could not/would not give me an online promotion rate at the desk--which I only noticed on the way in--BUT they let me use their computer to get a booking and print-out--and checked in -- so I guess it must be a " Head Office " directive ???

  4. That's some optimistic pricing.

This their prices five years ago:

    Studio 8,000

    1 Bed Room 13,000

Have they updated their accommodations commensurate?

The location does not appear auspicious.

Think that may have an extra zero ?? Jui Jitsu ---

    Latest Agoda quotes 900---1300 baht---

Don't care about auspicious----that's the area I want to be in thumbsup.gif

  5. Here is the VAT Table ---- --less 100baht process fee as already stated--as you will see ---there are fixed amounts for whatever amount applies to your purchase--these brackets start a 500 baht to 4000 baht--above that a percentage

Just thinking--don't remember paying the 100 baht in August--maybe they did scrap it after the re-vamp of the VAT re-funds -- someone will confirm that -or not shortly ?

  6. Re-- where is Neesheys-- The beach end of Narathip Road

From the traffic lights @ the main road to Bangkok--head towards the beach -a couple of k's down and its on the right just before the beach road--OR--if you are on the beach road --go find the place in the photo--cant miss it --cross the road and walk straight up for 1 minute and it's on the left

  7. In the Soi Bus Stop area ---I find the Aroy is good for Dinner--they don't really do a full English Breakfast---both Cha Am Pub and Neesheys do an excellent one--seeing that when I am there I stay in Soi Bus stop --Cha Am Pub suits me fine--Aussie Darren is a friendly guy to have a chat to--so is the Aussie ?? at Neesheys

  8. whistling.gif Drugs.

I guess it turned out it wasn't but small aircraft "accidentally" flying into another air space are usually interpreted by that country's air traffic control personnel as having the possibility of being a drug run, trying to sneak in low under their radar coverage.

No country in the world will let you do that.

No matter what you think, no country let's you enter their airspace without clearance from their air traffic control people.

Quite correct Ima-Farang--- Even in your home country--you are required to request permission to enter another controlled airspace if it is on route to destination--and comply with their directives --that airspace ends at a determined height above sea-level- above that is an international control unit--in N.Z it's Oceania--when you leave that--you are passed over to contact to the next control on route --and so it goes on

  9. Thinking outside the box, there's a very slight chance the fuel cap is clogged creating a vacuum in the fuel tank. When the engine stops, undo the cap and see if there's a sound of air being sucked into the fuel tank.

    Beat me to it Farma-

-had exactly that problem with a V8 Rover--took a while to discover--then it was by chance, one time I thought I had run out of fuel-although it showed quarter full ---could be the fuel gauge ? - I opened the cap to pour some fuel in and heard that sucking sound- left the cap off- and away it went--stopped and got a new cap--no more problems---

  10. Ahhhhh first TGF droped her pretty eyebrows or eyes widened depending on what was going on, second TGF had a sombre look of amazement on her face and the third TGF lips would form an tightened 0 then a look away.

Yes that last one--Tightly folded arms- a severe pout---and looking everywhere but at you ermm.gif

  11. Oops...It's Soi Wat Boon. Right side a few hundred meters before Beach Road as you are heading towards the beach.

Sorry! Never eaten there as parking is close to impossible.

is that the Soi that the Winchester Club was in--used to enjoy Sunday Lunch/Afternoons there--wonder what happened to it ?--Think it was run by a father and son--Bill & ??

  12. My pet hate - sometimes- is the chair and/or table itself ---how many time have you sat down for a meal to find you are just about chin height to the table --a bit of an exaggeration--but you know what I mean mad.gif

Hey, Buckaroo, no, I can't really say I know what you mean. Sitting down at a table to find you are just about chin height to the table???!! What?!
yano what my pet hate is, when you pinch the back of its sack, yelps like fuk..

Chair too low most times-- am I the only one that this happens to ?? not a big thing--just a passing comment
