  1. Man, people sure have a lot of time on their hands living in the provinces?

    CB

Yes, typical of any area that has a higher rate of poverty--many who are employed seasonally, partially, or not at all. Ever been to Cambodia? Or have you ever ventured outside the elite zones of SE Asia?

Sorry, don't get your point. Wrong medication?

  2. Ubon had a Red parade today and lit fires (Tires) in the main high road and near the Air Base.

Sisaket is very close to Ubon, it seems they have at least something under control, guess people are going somewhere else.

Cops check on daily bases cars, trucks on the 226, the way to Surin, also in Uthumphon Phisai, 25 km away.

The only problem now is: IT"S TO QUIET...................

  3. Agreed your Thai drivers license with the Thai Land Transport Department issued International Drivers Permit (IDP) will be valid in Germany.
If you have an international driver's license, no translation is required.

I'd like to know what you are referring to, as there is no such thing as an "international drivers license." Who are you claiming issues it? There are lots of scam companies willing to sell you a bogus one for good money though. (see Google ad banner on this forum, for example)

gougouluxembourg did just copy and past the official German Information of the Bundesministerium für Verkehr blabla bla.................. Information in English looks like they do exist for the German Government, you learn every day, dont you?

Most countrys will give you an official International Driving Licence (or what ever you like to call it) (if you ask and pay). Its nothing more then a translation of the National Licence into different Languages. It is just valid together with your National Driving Licence.

Its not possible to get this in a legal Version at Kao San Road (or for 6 k Baht over the Internet from the USA), its issued by the individual Country.

Thank you very much for your help, I've got all the needed information.

  4. Another picture. Can we really accept that if someone with a Molotov cocktail got hurt was not in harm's way? We only hear about mostly innocent civilians being hurt or could it be the other way round?

Well, all the posts about reds and yellows seem to reach a point where more and more of the real problems got lost.

It’s not allowed to write anything about this particular family, but please believe me, there’s more than some farmers and Thaksin behind the whole scenery.

Would be nice if there would be a solution, but it looks more like the beginning of civil war. There’s no light at the end of the tunnel……

  5. Thanks for informing us of the situation, but let's remember that this sub-forum is not for discussing politics, per se.

The effects of the current political situation is relevant to schools, teachers and education in general, but please exercise care in your approach to the discussion.

So you put teachers in with no funding whatsoever or do you receive gov't or foreign funds to do this?

    :)

'I run a project putting native English volunteers into schools in Phang Nga. These are schools that cannot afford to hire Native English Teachers. The volunteer teachers teach for nothing.'

"The volunteer teachers teach for nothing." Hope you're an honest person, trustworthy...... :D

  6. Short look via Google shows (pages in German) that you should have no problem with a legal Thai Driving Licence and a legal Thai International Driving Licence. I guess your permanent Adress is here in Thailand and not Germany.

I'll have to have a temporary address in Germany for several reasons, does that still mean that I'm allowed to drive, even when I'm only staying for three months?

  7. I, your license is valid during a temporary stay in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Do you have a valid national or international driver's license, may run in the Federal Republic of Germany, the motor vehicles of categories for which your license is issued. have constraints and limitations to take note of your driving license here. Your license also applies if you are above in the Federal Republic of Germany has not for the particular class required minimum age. The license must be carried while operating the vehicle.

If you have an international driver's license, no translation is required.

A translation of the national driving license, you must carry if it:

    * Is not issued in a Member State of the European Union (EU) or state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA) (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) or

    * Is not in German or

    * Not the Convention on Road Traffic of 8 November 1968 (Annex 6), applies. If your driver's license with Annex 6 requirements, you can ask the competent authorities of the issuing state.

German translations may, among others, German or internationally recognized automobile clubs of the country issuing the license, official bodies of the country issuing of driver's license, court-appointed and sworn interpreters and translators in general and German diplomatic missions are made.

In the following States, the Federal Republic of Germany renounced the carriage of a translation:

    Andorra *,

    Hong Kong *,

    * Monaco,

    * New Zealand,

    * San Marino,

    Switzerland and *

    * Senegal.

Thanks a lot for your advice.

  8. Maybe a bit of topic, but do you provide the volunteers with a work permit?

You do have to provide a work permit. I left Kao Lak short before the Tsunami and I remember that specialists from the German BKA were working there and made DNA tests to identify the bodies.

People from the government showed up and blamed them for working without a work permit. I'm talking about forensic specialists now and not about volunteers. Good luck, great idea.

  9. Hi, sorry to ask a question regarding driving in another European country like Germany with a Thai drivers' license and an IDP. ( International Drivers' License issued in Thailand)

I'll have to go to Europe pretty soon, made my International drivers' license and I'd like to know if that's legal in Germany. I've heard that holders of a license from countries like Thailand will have to 'legalize' the IDP in Germany. I'd be thankful for any advice.

Germany has pretty rough laws regarding drivers' licenses. I'm asking this question because I'd like to have a surgery in a German hospital and might have to use my Thai license. Thanks for any further information regarding German laws.

My point being is that I want to make sure that I'm not doing anything against the German law. Need my police clearance when I'm coming back to LOS, so no trouble with German cops needed.

  10. BTW Pattaya is way better then everyone says. Its better then Phuket. Allot cheaper, way more big shopping malls and nice towers.

    Oh dear.

The spell check police has been informed. Please take under consideration that a spell check is available. You'll receive a free bottle of perfume for the free download. Fee is 700 baht.

  11. Having read most of your posts, I'd say she's ditched you

Thai girls with budget travellers, now that's an oxymoron :)

You know who taxi drivers say are the worst tippers in New York ? Rich people.

Bangkok isn't New York. You need to buy some stones to get a cheap girl there, the cracked ones. Not perfume. You must be a cab driver.....

  12. Having read most of your posts, I'd say she's ditched you

Thai girls with budget travellers, now that's an oxymoron :)

That is going to be one good smelling girl in Samut Prakan.

    What perfume was it Sokal?

beckham. I even bought the smaller and cheaper bottle and used the excuse that I could not bring the bigger bottle because the volume exceeded the maximum alouable on the plane. :D I think its true though, 60ml is too much.

I know she has another young farang guy on the hook because she posts her pics on facebook without realizing that she has not disabled the feature that automatically uploads the pics on to MSN. I don't have her facebook account so she thinks that I don't know. This other guys must be sending her money and stuff because he also writes some love bug comments on their pics. The only reason I was sticking around was because i figured if she is going to butterfly then if I don't,some other guy will.

I feel like writing an email to her and just tell her if she has a good farang guy on the hook then don't screw it up and treat the guy good.

    You are kidding, aren't you?

  13. i am not that emotional of a guy, i could forget about her, no problem. I am just not sold that she ditched me. I think she might have fallen asleep at home or something.

:) .....called denial old chap.....how dare a Thai lady dump you.... :D

she was too short for me anyway. I want a taller one

    :D:D:D:D

Oh my god. Be careful, the tall ones might have something you've got....

  14. Buy a more expensive bottle of perfume with the next girl and give her more cash, move on go and have fun in Pattaya you`ll soon forget.

Isn’t that called naïve? You paid her already for one night or at least some good time with her. No reason for her to come back. Why would you take a girl to Pattaya? Don’t you get it?

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

  15. Hi,

The most important thing for you is to make your lessons very funny. Many of them are pretty bad in English, only some are outstanding. As far as I can understand, you'll have to be very creative not to be boring.

The good thing about M 6 students is that lots of lessons will be cancelled, sports weeks, Army camp, tests and so on. Go inside the classroom how you are, show them respect, and tell them something about you, the classroom rules.

You'll have to think about speech competitions, and they might ask you to prepare some students in a short period of time.

Please make sure that they understand you! Thai students don't tell you that they can't understand a word. Speak clearly and slowly, understandable for all. Good luck for your new experience, it's not so bad.

If you want some material please post me, got some good stuff on word 2007, easy to add or change something. Small files.

  16. Violence breeds Violence

Nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced.

    Albert Einstein.

Here's something you should see. A guy trying to help. He wasn't wearing a red shirt, even when it's red now.

The other photo is from a friend.

  17. The Visa may be easier from Kuala Lumpur (1 year multiple entry non imm o, lasts 15 months), only need 100kbht in Thai bank account.

Flight about 3kbht each way, or take the bus.

No home visit or stupid questions .......... they rounded my neighbours wives up and asked them if they ever heard me beating the wife.

(not sure if yes confirms proper marriage, as wife beating normal in LOS)

They showed up at my house two times just to make sure that it was true what I told them. Even my neighbor, a Thai teacher had to come to the police station to type a very long report on an old type writer.....((edit))
