  1. America trying to impose it's idea of democracy around the world has been the direct cause of tens of thousands of deaths.

Best they keep their hanging chad, electoral college, richest lobby group wins style of democracy to themselves.

yes, I agree ... And if America did not get involved it would not be tens of thousands but millions.... Damed if you do damed if you don't . I think America should just act like other countries and take take take and screw everyone else. Let everyone else fight their own battles .....
  2. It is what it is..... Just watch and have a laugh ....

Just one hour ago in Bkk sitting at McDs having a burger. Farangs doing same me finish and take their trays and dump in garbage can and put tray on top. Very simple and takes no effort. 100% of Thais, yes 100%, left their mess on the table with the exception of one who brings her tray over to the trash but only sets it on top of the other trays and does not dump.... why ???? Now farangs go to dump their tray but have to look around for a place to put the tray after dumping. Hahaha.... made me laugh but also wonder why we farang will take the time to do things correctly and kind while Thais will just ignore and leave someone else to clean up after them. Sometimes I see a cleaning lady picking up trays at some fastfood places but at McDs the cans are setup for the customers to do. Do you think perhaps Thais share a sense of entitlement ? Totally different mindset ...

Farangs have been trained to do it, and I don't mean training in the positive way of acquiring a skill, I mean trained like an animal would be trained to automatically perform what its master wants.

Personally, I do like some aspects of Asian culture, in particular the sense of who a customer is.

You simply don't ask a customer to clean up trash.

trained ....really? I walked out and dumped my tray and took a look at all the people walking around looking for a clean table to sit at. Someone was at my table in a second because I took a second and dumped my tray. I am sure that person was happy to get and not have to stand around waiting for someone, who was not seen, to clean a table.

McDs is about cheap fast food, hardly a sitdown restrurant where people take your order. It's about serving yourself and cutting costs.

Also, what's so difficult about dumping a tray, it takes a second.

  3. I have just read the posts about less tourists everywhere and then went down to latest news, editor's pick, about jam packed Maya Bay..attachicon.gifMaya Bay.jpg

what a mess! After one look at that who in their right mind would want to go there.

That area was beautiful 20 years ago when tourist numbers were around 12 million or less. Now less farang than before but sooooo many more Chinese and Indians. The island beaches just off Pattaya are the same, wall to wall people. The tour groups are pushing the high end tourist away.

You do realise that you are probably depriving a Thai of a job! smile.png

is that the same Thais who pickup the trash on the beach who would be deprived of a job. Hahaha.... I think they quit already long ago.

  6. If you truly didn't cause any problems In the past or this time then they have a real hate issue going on in their head. Many other places to go to buy coffee, Screw them !!! There is hate all over the world just move on and don't be part of it.... 99.9% of Thais will be happy to take your money, .1% are just too stupid to know any better.

  7. I would only change about 90% of my life. The other 10% would stay exactly, I mean exactly the same :)

    90%

    *Fly first 100% of time

*bigger and more homes around the world

    *hotter cars

    *boats

    *more travel, first class

    *more exercise and golf

*help family and the real poor

The 10% are some friends who I would not change

  8. If your friend is a true friend, I mean a real friend who you hang out with and been through a lot together and someone who you trust 100% then I would tell him for sure. If he is only a neighbor or someone you see once in awhile I would not bother.

Also something to think about is that maybe this guy is an a$$hole and screws around on his wife also. He might be just the kind of guy that would screw your wife or gf if he had a chance.

  9. The OP needs to find a job and work on his other options when time permits, that's for sure !

I don't however agree with most of these posts that put 100 percent of the responsibility on the farang for all support. Marriage is two people pulling together not one dragging the other. She should pitch in and help when needed. If I had a wife or gf who only was with me for money she would be gone in a minute. In reality the OP is lucky to find out her true colors early. I had a cash flow problem once and didn't want to start cashing in my investments to solve a short term problem. My Gf at the time was upset because she wanted a new iPhone for her B-day. I told her it had to wait but she gave me the silent treatment. Needless to say that money hungry little bitch is gone.... Two months later cash flow problem resolved and money not a problem and investments not touched. Everyone can experience a bump in the road sometime. Some of these girls want it all Now Now Now .... But are not willing to do their share.

OP... find a job that pays the bills and work part time on your blog and other internet interests. Count you blessings that your wife is gone, one less weight to drag around. Good luck !

If you would read before posting... the OP wrote "She got her 2 year FLR extension in May last year and carried on working as a cook at her job in a bistro restaurant after our holiday."

So his WIFE is the one earning money and the problem is the MOTHER and her 46y-old baby son... NOT the money..

And if your read correctly she spent all of the money she earned on her family. I not see her as pitching in ! She also is the one who did not want to fly alone so he had to leave his job which he later lost due to her ....

  10. Why do people drive so fast that it becomes a problem to stop??? Think about it... You speed down the road only to have to stop at the next light for a few minutes. You then take off quickly only to have to stop again another 400 meters down the road. I really don't think we get where we are going any faster by speeding. Having said that I know Thais drive like crazy so I guess in order to survive we must go with the flow. TIT

  11. I have not used Uber but use Grab Taxi all the time in Bangkok. Grab Taxi is very easy to use and it is so nice to have the taxi come directly to your home with only a few second of time to enter your info. The app works great and prices are reasonable. The rate is 25 baht plus meter. There are sometimes promotions that waver the 25 baht so many trips are just meter.
