We also lived in Florida before we came here. (Palm Coast) weather very similar to Thailand and many Thais , Cambodians, and Vietnamese. living there. We actually had two  cambodian supermarkets in our area, and a few in Orlando.  I must admit , IMO, Thai food was better there than it is in Isaan. We were near the ocean  but I always thought about acreage near Ocala. Not much different here. I have my challenges here  I wont lie, but in the balance I like it better here. I like the freedom to do whatever I like in my property. Back in Florida , by the time I got permits. licenced tradesmen, and plans stumped by an engineer....

As far as food in Isaan, both me and the wife are very good cooks, she takes care of the Thai cooking (to my liking) and I whip up a western meal on accession. Probably no different than most others here.

NO!  Never admit you can cook or wash dishes and if you are ever coerced into trying, make sure you accidently set fire to the kitchen so you are never asked again!  Guys like you spoil it for the rest of us.

Oddly enough I did not claim to invent it, nor did I claim that my father had told me the same thing when I was a child.

I am sure that if you search the internet you will find quite a few example of similar wording, yet nobody seems to claim that they invented it.

Can you indicate to me where I claimed you invented it?  You cant.  Oddly enough, its just deflection.  But, what I did insinuate is that the saying has been twisted from the one I remember as a child.  Maybe try reading it again.

Oh oh. The proverbial camel’s nose is under the tent. Nothing ever comes good from Xi and his fellow autocrats. I said long ago that the high speed rail was just a faster way for the Chinese communists to get their troops and tanks to Thailand. The wolves are at the door.

Oh yes the "Domino Theory" bwahahahahaha!  We know how well that bull<deleted> spread!

You've got to be some kind of stupid to go work in Myanmar right now.  I mean, come on.

Stupid?  What about the Thai girls who, right in the middle of the epidemic, went to Mayanmar to work in the casino, got ill with covid, came back home by illegally crossing the border and recording it all on Facebook as evidence!  Thats stupid!

If USA was so against the coup and Prayuts placement at the top slot then they should have threatened that all imports exports to Thailand until a democratic free election was held with a civilian government installed.

    Instead of the empty rhetoric...

I think you fail to remember all the good work the US has done in supporting democratically elected governments in places such as Guatemala, Guiana, Ecuador, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Chile, Nicaragua, Grenada, El Salvador, Haiti, Venezuela, etc etc etc etc!  And this is just in Central and South America.   History tells it all clearly.  ????

Let's destabalise the political situation even further. Makes me wonder what his end game is. Say what you will but he's no fool in the game of politics.

Hes not coming back to sit in a jail cell and somehow take care of his children lol!.

The elections are over, the end results decided and the future all mapped out.......well, apart from informing us on whats been decided.

  7. One more thing to take into account is the renewal of your atm card.  I had an account with Bangkok bank in Minburi and the card expired about 3 months ago.  I visited a couple of local branches to try to get a new card but was told I would have to go back to the accounts home branch )I'm in Isaan).   Now I know some people on here will say "oh no thats b**lsh*t" well it happened to me and many others and people say a lot of things on here but just be warned.

I tried to get around it by closing the a/c and opening another locally, thinking I would save on the "other province" fees but alas they got me on the deposit fees.   The whole thing is a scam with them treating Thailand like it is 70 odd countries, not provinces, and making you pay for it as though the internet costs more to cross borders lol!

    regards worgeordie

Well depends on what kind of life youve led.  Aches and pains normal for me after 50 but havnt been kind to my body, worn my back into an arthritic mess amongst other things.

71 now but yes I have often pondered on the question:  How am I supposed to feel at my age?

I have just watched this and found it to be rather enjoyable for something you didn't really have to think about, but what struck me were the similarities between this movie and some of Tarantino's movies, and especially the music in it which could well have been stolen from a Sergio Leone spaghetti western movie, right down to the harmonica and string plucking! Not to mention a priest, a church and a hanging.

In fact some of the music soundtrack was so close, I thought it may well have been borrowed!

The movie I downloaded was dubbed in English, but it was quite skilfully done and didn't detract from the actual movie itself.

Back in the mid 70's I passed thru a "wild west" town in Spain set up for making spaghetti westerns.  Out in the middle of nowhere, just like in the movies, it was a main street, mostly props but did have a complete saloon, sherrifs office including cells and a gallows outside.  But no church this time.
