  1. My family suffered from the German invasion of Belgium. Some killed by the Wehrmacht in combat. I thank the brave Russian and Allied soldiers who died for the Liberation of Europe. I see that tgw does not like Moscow's Victory Day over nazism. No doubt a nostalgic like the Kyiev Azov Banderas...
  2. Yes, they did. All elephants except one were "rented" from peasants in the Province who use them to work their land. So, not a real "sanctuary"... The "stairs" were illegaly build by him on public beach land and thus he had no right to them. He has money... Seems like most on this thread find it inconsequential to kick a Thai woman's butt.
  3. Yes! The Peace Talks will not go anywhere soon as long as the Green T-shirt is representing Ukraine. By Constitutional Law he is forbidden to hold talks with Putin, anyway. In a way I think the feet-dragging suits Putin as it gives him time to go occupy Odessa, a Russian city. He could then disenclave Transnistria, the ethnic Russian ex-Moldavia separatist land. I'm a Belgian citizen. I stand with Putin and Russia. 100% And I love Colonel Douglas Macgregor and Glenn Diesen.
  4. A few months ago the Euro was at THB 39+. I wanted to bring in my FCD Euros but wife said wait for 40...
  5. I have used the Chula Uni Translation Service several times. In particular for my Thailand Marriage Certificate. Excellent work Send your document in PDF and they will mail you back telling how much it will cost. Then you pay them and they will send you the translation. 6. I'm about your age. I have no health insurance since I retired in LOS at age 50. I too would rather go away in our home. Most important, I have a Living Will. In Thai and English on the TH govt aprouved form that you can download on the Net. Make sure you have one. You only need two TH witnesses. I told my wife I want my $$$ to go to her after I die and not to waste on expensive care to prolong my life of a little time if it comes to that
  7. Reminds me of that Pattaya well-known German guy years ago. Among other businesses he was running the huge Bavaria restaurant on Pattaya Walking Street (sea side). The local Thai officials declared him persona non grata for some legal reasons and wanted him out of Pattaya and Thailand but the guy had powerful reach and it took quite a while until a provincial official with some leverage could force him to go back to his native Bavaria or wherever. It's some years ago but, maybe, some old timers remember. No Internet and forum back then. The saga ran in the Pattaya English news tabloid.
  8. We have a DIY in my village. I'll go have a look at what they have.
  9. I bought mine many years ago at a stall in a Pattaya market. I think I paid 100 baht a pair about. Rated for reading :125 and 150. I tried 175 but it's too much for me. Before moving back to BKK and then Ubon I bought a few (many!) pairs. Eventually, they do get scratched and I throw them away. I've looked at Lazada and, indeed, I would buy cheap there if I need new ones. I have no need for an expensive oculist shop and for "prescription" glasses even though I'm a very senior guy...😀
  10. Long live Russia! Long live Putin! Hurray for the BRICS++
  11. I have a Euro FCD with CitiBank in Singapore since 2001. Excellent service. I recommend Citi. Note that there is a maintenance fee for accounts below USD 200k or equivalent. I thought of opening an FCD with BKK Bank in Thailand and went to their main office in BKK to talk about it. Totally inconvenient and impractical BKK Bank FCD compared to my Citi SIN account. I didn't pursue the idea.
  12. This is a proxy war between the US and Russia. Either the US prevails in Ukraine or Russia does. I wish that Russia wins. The EU is vassal to the US and NATO is the armed thug of the US. Zelensky is a US tool. And both the US and its UK sidekick would love to see Zelensky "win" and open Ukraine completely to US big corporations.
  13. A few here will like this guy... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13282963/Wyoming-hunter-Cody-Roberts-wolf-parade-bar-killed.html
  14. Maybe the person who did that revolting action was inspired by the well publicized infamous wolf tormentor Cody Roberts in Wyoming... https://www.change.org/p/demand-felony-charges-against-cody-roberts-for-animal-cruelty
  15. Indeed, I remember reading some time ago that the authorities had found that all but one of his elephants belonged to Thai farmers and that he rented the beasts when they were not needed for agricultural work. Not really a "sanctuary".
  16. Some time ago I read that after Inquiry the authorities had found that all except one were "rented" from Thai farmers.
  17. My TW was a most attractive slender girl when we first met many many years ago. I find her still beautiful but she has put on a few unwanted lbs/kgs. Nothing serious but enough for her to think that a bariatric surgery would bring back her slim youth waist. I'm totaly opposed to that but she keeps showing me TikTok Before and After miracles. What say you, guys?
  18. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-visits-crimea-anniversary-its-annexation-ukraine-2023-03-18/#:~:text=March 18 (Reuters) - Russian,of the peninsula from Ukraine. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/putin-makes-surprise-trip-mariupol-first-occupied-donbas-ukraine-2023-03-19/
  19. Thanks for that info. Very important for me I was getting worried that I'd have to close down an old pre-31DEC23 FCD non-interest bearing savings account in SIN and transfer it to Thailand before 31DEC24. So, it seems like I can wait until convenient. I'll sleep better 😊
  20. Born to a Ukrainian Jewish family, Zelenskyy grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih, a major city of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine. Different mentality, eh?
  21. The West, led by Hegemon US and its sidekick the UK have only goood intentions.
  22. Any chance this new TRD tax mess could be delayed ? And be {re}implemented at a later date ... Like the airport tax, and the tourist tax, and ...
  23. I support Putin 100%. LOL that I'm all that bad you say I must remember😀
  24. We're talking about F-16. Here is a good article about them in Politico. https://www.politico.eu/article/ukraine-f-16-fighter-jets-war-russia-base-runway/ Excerpt : runways and taxi routes at multiple sites will need to be smooth and constantly checked for debris given how susceptible the low-slung, single-engine F-16s are to ground debris
  25. Yes, I too read some time ago that clean runways are needed for F-16 and that the Russians would certainly make Ukraine's airfields unsuitable for them but I have not seen this mentioned since by politico commentators until your post. My conspiracy mind makes me think that NATo will try to operate them from nearby US vassal states like Poland. This is Casus Belli and will not be tolerated by Putin who has already said that foreign airfields will be made INOP if they host them. F-16 are suited to be armed with nukes so I'm not sure what Putin will make of them if they start intruding in Russian territory. That should worry him about a potential sneaky nuke attack. To this day I still fail to see what is the benefit for Europeans to so eagerly follow the US into their long-planned geostrategic proxy war against Russia in Ukraine. Old Russophobic hatreds should not trump the interests of the peoples of Europe. But then, among the EU leaders there is only Viktor Orban who seem to care for his people, the others are devoted Atlantists taking their orders from the boss.
