Wife need to do this soon as part of a UK family visa application, I guess I can't book the VFS global appointment until I know more about how long this will take? Apparently it can take them 7 days to book your appointment but how long after the test will they issue the certificate?
thanks

No - The application must be made using a Thai address - Maybe you should delay the application until those details are available
ok thanks

Im currently filling the form in online on behalf of my wife from the UK, she will be returning to Thailand to make the application but we don't know what her mobile number there will be or where she will be staying, is it ok to use my number and our UK address?
-
Finally got ours back yesterday at noon via courier, it was actually available to pickup from Weds 26th so using the courier added almost 2 full days even though it was being delivered in Bangkok ????
Applied on Saturday 1st of June (paid almost 4k baht extra to VFS to have a Saturday appointment otherwise it would have been a 2 week wait just to submit) so pretty much a full month.

You dont need an agent and as long as you present lots of evidence in a clear and concise way you should be fine:
For her
6 months or more bank statements
6 months or more payslips
Letter from employer (if in Thai needs to be translated by an official company and then they stamp each document with their contact details).
Childs birth certificate translated to English
Id also include a translated copy of her tabian baan (it wont hurt) and her Thai ID card too.
Her rental agreement in Thailand or evidence of where she lives.
For your friend
6 months or more bank statements UK
6 months or more bank statements Thailand
Thailand rental agreement (if he has one)
Council tax bill or something similar in his name to show home ownership
Letter of invitation/sponsorship - in this he should confirm that he will be fully supporting the trip and her financially. Give the approx. dates when the trip will happen. Confirm the address of his home where she will be staying. Confirm all the above supporting evidence.
I would strongly recommend that your friend applies at least 6 weeks before they want to take the trip, if that isnt enough time then they will need to pay around 4k baht to get a quicker VFS appointment to submit the docs and I would strongly recommend they pay another 10k baht to get a visa decision within a week.

We called the helpline (£1.37 per minute) last week and, after a long wait, spoke to a gentleman with an Indian accent. He told me that processing is currently slow because lots of foreigners want to go and watch cricket in England. In my view it's more likely related to under-staffing, inefficiency, profit from premium services, and/or the UK hostile environment.
I echo what @Flyfish said. Our application process for a standard UK visitor visa this time has been absolutely horrendous. The application form gets longer each year, with more and more futile statements to the effect that the applicant is not involved in terrorism, genocide etc.. And now specific dates are required for all overseas trips in the last 10 years. Last year, only the month was required. If you've traveled a lot, it takes a very long time to complete that section.
Once you're over that hurdle, the VFS site is pathetically unstable and ambiguous. We were battling it for days just to get as far as making an appointment. Their IT people should be ashamed.
And finally, the slow UKVI processing means that it's likely we have to cancel a subsequent Schengen visa application and planned trip to Europe, forfeiting paid-for flights and a lot of planning, because we're simply running out of time. We did consider the UK priority visa service, but as it was 10,120 Baht on top of the other charges. In hindsight we should have caved and paid it.
Next time we'll go somewhere more welcoming.
I might call regarding our application if I haven't heard anything by next week. Approx. how long were you on the phone for? Were they actually able to tell you anything about your own application?

Why exactly is it so busy right now anyway?
-
What exactly has changed with vfs global recently though? I just did an application on June 1st and everything down at trendy seemed to be the same as the previous years we had done them, last time my wife got a decision on her visitor visa in like 4 working days or something and that was February last year when they were being sent to India also I believe?

I've been having the same problem. Filled out the application, paid, then try to upload documents but it fails every time. It seems I have to go through that step before I can make an appointment,
Or can I make an appointment another way?
Its done anyway at the appointment, I actually paid a few hundred baht extra for some service where they 'help' to upload them but Im not even sure what thats for as the docs have to be uploaded anyway. Doing it yourself at home will just speed things up a bit at the appointment.

Ok from what I know from Thai asking the Mrs..
1. No the seller is not liable the car has been sold,
2. That is not the seller problem, the buyer can still still deal with DLT requirements with just of just a copy of the blue book and papers of sell in his possession.
3..Usually there is no name name is on the book it remains the property of Thanachart until full payment is paid.
OK thanks, Ive decided to pay off all the finance myself as non of the interested buyers wanted to close unless I do that

Yes done it once with Thanachart our situation was my wife and buyer went to Thanachart with all the papers for selling, details etc, and paid off the balance they then gave my wife the remainder cash amount of the cars selling price, then we gave them the car.
They would then have to wait for the blue book to be sent to them by Thanachart, meanwhile they go with paperwork, copy of car blue book and the car for inspection and sort things with DLT.
OK thanks for the extra info, sorry Im still not 100% clear on when owenership of the car is handed over to the buyer though.
So after they have paid the full amount to Thanachart on that day plus the rest to the seller, the seller then hands over the keys and the car to them and they then own the car legally correct? So if there is an accident or something the seller is not liable from that point?
Approx. how long does the blue book take to be sent out to the buyer?
You mention that they have a copy of the blue book though? But whose name is in that?

1.. You will have to go to Thanachart bank and see what arrangements can be made with them.
2.. Buyer pays the balance in full and there maybe some discount, they then own the car and given receipt, they will then have to wait until the car blue book is sent to them.
thanks, have you done this before?
About #2, my wife said something like that too, any idea how long the payment process takes? Does this mean we don't need to go to the land & transport office to change over the car ownership? When would the keys and the actual car be handed over to the buyer?

I know this question has been asked quite a few times before here and Ive been reading some of those older threads but I still have many questions about this esp. what the exact process is.
So I have a car thats actually in my wifes name and still under finance that I want to sell, from my understanding there are two options:
1 - Transfer the finance (Thanachart) to the new buyer. Right now Im only talking to Thai buyers so I dont think there should be any problems about WP etc but they will need to pass a credit check right?
Do they then take it over at the exact rate Im paying per month now?
Approx. how long does this take?
2 - Buyer pays off all the finance and the car is transferred to them. My wife has said this is possible and that apparently a lot of people do it in Thailand but Im not clear on what the steps are and when & how payments are made and when actual ownership of the car is transferred over. Ive read 3 days but other people said 14 days? (We are in Bkk which is where the car is registered)
How is the actual payment by the buyer made? Are they expected to just pay the finance company in full and then have to wait in good faith for us to transfer it at the government office once the finance has cleared?
thanks

Ive heard they've been having technical problems recently, the site has been fine for me so far but Im trying to upload evidence docs now before our apportionment tomorrow and its just stuck after trying to upload 5 docs.
I paid for 'document scanning assistance' but thought Id upload them now anyway just to speed things up but I guess I might as well not bother? ????

Nevermind I found it, you have to go through the full VFS application process to book the time and pay the fee then go back to your VFS account and submit your GWF number from gov.uk at 'My application' to get back to the documents upload page
-
I just went through the forms on the gov.uk site for a visitor visa for my wife and paid the fee. It then took me to the VFS Global website and created a login for me where there was a page to upload all my supporting documents. I closed this and came back to it later using the login but now I cant see the upload docs page anywhere in myappointment.vfsglobal.co.uk ? All I can see are the following options:
Location Details
Customer Details
Services
Appointment
Review and payalso it doesnt seem to save any of your progress in the forms if you exit.
Am I doing something wrong here?

You're way past the online and postal windows, so no choice but to go file a TM47 in person.
Try to file the TM47 first, and if accepted then leave. Otherwise, if redirected to Counter B (TM30) go sort that out first.
The actual registration confirmation for the TM30 online system seems to be taking a long time for many.
Thanks, I know Im well past my online date I just wanted to check what I need to do at CW
-
About 2 weeks ago I tried to do my online 90 day report which was denied with a note saying somehting about the TM30 form. Even though my landlord had registered 2 yrs ago I guess it had to be done again. So I informed him of this and apparently he is able to do it all online, he did completed the form over 10 days ago and got a confirmation email that it had been submitted but it hasnt been confirmed by immigration still and the number to call no-one ever answers it.
My 90 day deadline was yesterday so I now have 6 days to report myself, what should I do?
I have a recent signed copy of my landlords ID card and house book, can I just go to CW (Im in BKK) and do my 90 day and register my landlord myself?

OK thanks for the feedback, she got a new Thai passport anyway and there were no problems with that, it will be posted to us in the next 2 days
