Your son doesn't have to go. In fact, neither do you, if you use an agent.

OK thanks, what do agents cost for things like this? Are there any problems with using them?

Your birth certificate doesn’t have same name.... parents divorced..... ?
Are you saying that you need your parents birth certificates?
I thought your birth certificate is needed, not theirs......
or your name on your passport is different to that on your birth certificate?

Its ok I was confused, I thought I needed my parents birth certs to prove my own nationality too.

If the mother doesn't have her birth certificate it shouldn't stop the passport being issued, as long as she has other identification. My wife is Laotian and never had a birth certificate but our son's passport was issued without any problems.

Im just looking at the docs required for getting a passport for our newborn son and want to confirm a few things:
Parents birth certificates - do these need to be the originals or are copies ok? Obviously mine is in the UK so Im hoping I can have a scan emailed to me.
Mothers birth certificate - so my wife says that birth certificates are not kept once I child has grown as they have national ID cards, is this true? I just called the UK passport office in Belfast and they said that a signed letter would be needed to state that or something?
Also, my birth certificate doesnt have the same name due to my parents getting divorced later, the UK office said I need to get a 'statutory declaration' which is then signed by a solicitor, has anyone here ever had to do this?
Is a tabian baan document needed? We rent a house outside Bangkok so dont have that anyway.
Color copies of every page in mine and my wife's passports - do they really need every page including the empty ones?
Is there anything else Im missing here?
Edit: Also, do translations of things like marriage certificates need to be approved by someone? I read something about recognised translation services on another thread.

The TM30 for needs to be done by somebody. Many offices put the responsibility on the person being reported.
As a tenant of a residence you can also fined for you not doing the report.
There is also the TM28 change of address report that has a max fine of 5000 baht.
Ok, and both of these have to be done in person right?
I should probably just go in and report myself...

I moved house a few weeks ago, both the old and new address are in samut prakan though.
According to this only the home owners have to report it?
http://www.samutprakanimmigration.go.th/
Q. Does my Thai wife have to report my address to Immigration?
A. Homeowners must inform Immigration within 24 hours if they have a foreigner staying at their house. This can be done using form TM30. This only needs to be done the first time. Homeowners face a fine of not exceeding 2,000 Baht while hotel managers could be fined 4,000 to 8,000 Baht.so I dont need to do anything then?

Applying for an extension does not change your 90 day reporting date unless immigration does a new one when you apply for the extension.
You need to do the report since the report date was not changed.
how late can you go to do it in person? Mine runs out on Sunday

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did my marriage extension recently and have to go back to have it finalised at the end of this month. My next 90 day is middle of this month but last time I did it (in person) they crossed out the date as my 1 year extension was due before then, do I still need to a 90 day report even though Im in the middle of my marriage extension approval period?
thanks

You can do the extension up to 30 days early or 45 days at some offices. There is no minimum number of days other than the last day.
ok thanks, and when you do it they then give you 30 days while its considered and checked etc right?
-
My current extension based on marriage expires in early May, do I need to go in a month before that date or just a few days before or actually on the date?
An updated Kor ror 2 from the local amphur is usually needed too right?
thanks

The next report date is 90 days from when you do the report. Or in the case of online reporting it will from the date your local office processed the report application and approved it.
yep, Im late :|

We are in November now Dave......
1 minute ago, rixalex said:My maths is crap but by my calculation, going from when you did your last one (16th August), your 90 days were up at the beginning of this week, meaning you are a good week too late to do it online.
OK, Ive been mixed up, Ive only been doing these 90 days for about a year or so now and up until my last one in Aug (which was my first online time) Id done them in person and pretty much on the very last day possible, I thought that the 90 days was counted from th last due date ie Aug 29th for me as it says on my slip so I guess the 90 days is counted from when you last did the report right?
It looks like Im actually a few days late then

There is a 15 to 7 days before the report date window you can do the report.
Check to be sure you entered all the required info correctly.
The message mean your record could not be found and sometime come up when the system cannot access the database where the records are kept.
Try going onto the check status of your application page to see if you can access your history of reports.
Ok, I just checked and it gives me 16th August which is when I last did this online. The time before that I did it on June 1st in person and I still have the receipt which says I had to notify my address my Aug 29th (which I did) so am I too early now?

OK thanks guys, Im in Samutprakkan (10540 I think) so going to call the local PO here today. Cant understand why they wouldn't leave a note though!

So my father sent a parcel to me via Royal Mail delivery about 10 days ago, I dont know what service he used exactly but I told him to make sure it was recorded.
Anyway he just told me today via whatsapp that apparently it arrived in Thailand on the 22nd and two attempts were made to deliver it to my home on the 25th and 26th, we were home all day on the 25th but out some of the 26th, no info on the time they tried. Apparently it is now back at the office and will be sent back if its not picked up, he says there are no other details on where exactly it is being held though.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
-
Well, you can add Samut Prakarn office to that list as they have just told me they dont do it too, a nice waste of 3 hrs and 600 baht in taxi fees

OK thanks, will take everything just in case!

OK thanks, so I just fill that in and take it there and dont need to pay anything or submit any other document copies etc? Do I get it back that day?

Im trying to book the Thai driving test in Bangkok at the moment and Ive been told that I need to get a letter that states my proof of residence and this can be obtained from either my embassy or immigration but the embassy option is expensive and slow so I want to go to my local immigration centre in SamutPrakarn today. What exactly am I asking them for (a lot of the staff there dont speak much english so knowing what its called in thai would help), what do I need to take with me and how long does it take and cost?
thanks
