  1. I've written two volumes about life in Thailand and specifically life & death in Pattaya. Maybe my invite is stuck in the post?
  2. The UK Guardian newspaper today reports a huge upturn in Russians buying 1 million+$ mansions; no explanation of how these draft-dodgers circumvented Thai property owning laws.
  3. Why is he driving a car with the steering wheel on his left?
  4. The main one being the conspicuously absent police presence?
  5. Doing what? Identifying the speeding, illegal driver; checking what food he was delivering? That might take two phone calls.
  6. AKA police who dislike working at night in case they meet any bad people; (they also dislike working during the day because it's hot.)
  7. Another one? When do Thais work? The police get so many weekends off it's hardly worth popping into the station these days.
  8. Classic Catch 22 situation. Testify & Prawit will learn your name; don't testify & he will be exonerated.
  9. Hi-So Thais who are connected and so eligible for freebies.
  10. There are very few National Health dentists in UK too. I accept shoving your fingers in someone else's mouth needs extra remuneration.
  11. Agree yet lots of companies willingly yield 51% to Thai shareholders despite their Worldwide reputation for corruption.
  12. Cue the appeals process followed by a 'fine'. Millionaires don't do time in Thailand (unless they've upset someone higher up.)
  13. This must be very serious to publish the name of the bar. Matador Bar is now high on my <deleted> List.
  14. It's never the result of good police work here.
  15. The last three headlines" Middle Eastern tourists pose policing challenges; Indian tourist injured in a brawl with fellow Nationals; 100 Kuwaitis obstruct Pattaya Rescuers. Is this a result of the high cost of air fares to Thailand from Europe?
  16. The main problem is overcoming the Thai police's aversion to work.
  17. One of the 1st newspaper reports I read nearly 20 years back carried a photo of a cop proudly holding up a severed leg like a fisherman with a prize catch.
  18. I sat in a becalmed Bangkok taxi yesterday and watched a Tessakit official stalk two smoking farangs. It was like a David Attenborough documentary as the official moved in for the kill only for the prey to stub out their cigs and dispose of them in rubbish bags waiting to be collected. His face resembled that of a lion's as a monkey alerted the zebra to the predator's proximity.
  19. Dongtan Police refused to comment as they slept through it.
  20. Another free lunch for General Rolex. He's also had all the sleeves in his suits lengthened so as not to show his wrists.
  21. '65 cars, mostly vintage, which were found to be issued with car registrations based on doctored information, but only 16 have been seized by the police to date.' Starting with the Lo-sos and working up to those connected, giving them time to think of a good story (AKA lie) or book a ticket to Dubai.
  22. How long were the beams that dropped half a kilometre of road on traffic travelling below?
  23. One should sue the other for attempted murder; he could use the damages for a brain transplant.
  24. Sattahip Police Station is a den of iniquity. A bent copper there extorted 15K from my ex explaining he would make my next year's visa application 'very difficult'.
