I applied for an OA visa in UK last August (2021) and I had to have the 3.5m cover back then. I think it may vary dependent on where you are and/or what province you are in
My question was about extension of stay, not originally applying for an OA.

Precisely what do you mean by that vague statement? That your insurance company is no longer prepared to provide you with the certificate required by Immigration for a 400k/40k policy and will now only provide you with this certificate for a 3m policy?
My complete sentence reads: "However my insurance does not want to commit and offers me either that or the new 3.5 Million scheme."
The requirement still being the old one can be traced back to the paper "THE GUIDELINE ON THE AMENDMENT TO ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR PURCHASING HEALTH INSURANCE OF NON-THAI NATIONALS APPLYING FOR NON-IMMIGRANT “O-A” VISA (1 YEAR)", written by the Ministry of Public Health - Department of Health Service Support. Which is obviously not Immigration. The relevant footnote on page 4 of this document reads: "The [draft] will take effect on 1 October 2022. Currently, non-Thai nationals who intended to extend the visa shall follow the criteria prescribed in 2019. Details are shown in the table." (Note the OCTOBER date, which is one year after the change for INITIAL O/A visa applications.)
The requirements for extension of stay listed on the Immigration Department website are the same they have been for many years, not mentioning health insurance at all.

I'm aware of the statement on the TGIA website and in several posts in this forum that O/A extensions of stay can be under the old 400k/40k scheme until end of August. However my insurance does not want to commit and offers me either that or the new 3.5 Million scheme. I should ask Immigration if I'm not sure (!). My question is: has anybody recently extended their stay (O/A, due before end of August) successfully under the old insurance scheme at Chaengwattana? Thank you.

Why? And why didn't you ask your insurance company to coincide policy dates with your historic renewal date?
Because several contributors in this forum, including a recent one, stated that they were sent away if they tried to extend before the start of the insurance policy. I could not go on the historic renewal date as it's a Sunday this year. I chose a date that was convenient for me. I didn't mind "losing" a few days.

When I got my LMG insurance in Aug, I had them post date the policy to begin on my historic extension begin date, 13 Sept. Thus, when I renewed my extension at CM on 19 Aug, my new extension is good through 12 Sept 2021.
I wouldn't try this at Chaengwattana.

To put an end to questions about the insurance starting date: my health insurance started at 0:01 a.m. today. My insurance certificate was accepted without questions. I was told that my new extension period would be until 25 August 2021 - that's all. (It would normally have ended in early September but I wanted to do the extension a few days in advance.) Below the extension stamp is an extra line in Thai, stating the extension has been granted for the insurance period.
Everything else was recently covered in this excellent post:

I just got a rough translation of the info. If you click the link in my post ("this information") you will be taken to a page which has an overview as well as the full police order for this change.

The Chiang Mai Immigration website has this information about a change in TM30 rules (which should apply to all immigration offices). Essentially from June 30 the TM30 is to be used only for registration of NEW tenants/guests by landlords/hotels etc. For renters like me that means that once you are registered at a particular address, you don't need to fill a TM30 when you return to that same address again - no matter if returning from travel in Thailand or abroad. Which is as it should be.

Do you own your place of residence in Thailand or are you renting it?
I'm renting.

For my extension today I was presented with a slightly changed form "Acknowledgement of the conditions for permitted continuation of stay in the Kingdom of Thailand". There was an additional form to sign which states that the signee is aware of the penalties for overstay, with said penalties listed in detail. I had prepared the first one but not a big issue as those two were quickly filled.
Applying for a re-entry permit I was given a new form with my queue number attached when handing in the application and passport. It wasn't explained that I was expected to fill that out and as it was actually the form TM.30 "NOTIFICATION FORM FOR HOUSE-MASTER, OWNER OR THE POSSESSOR OF THE RESIDENCE WHERE ALIEN HAS STAYED" I didn't think I should. It took an extraordinarily long time for my number to be called to get back my passport. Only then was I asked to fill out that form. Obviously everybody was, which was why it took so long. Essentially you're supposed to fill out the form completely, including the back side. For "Point of Entry" on the back I was asked to put "S08" for Suvarnabhumi Airport. I was given back the lower portion of the form as a receipt (no the same form of course as that would have eliminated some of the information on the back. This receipt looks very much like the receipt for a 90 days report, so there was a stamp on it "This is not the address notification of foreigner who has stayed for 90 days in the Kingdom."
All added up to 2 1/2 hours of time while last year it was under an hour.

After receiving the extension of stay based on retirement...then getting a "multiple re-entry permit" at 3800
Baht...this is good for as many re-entries as you want for the year your extension (retirement) is in force? You can come and go as many times as you wish?Yes and yes.

Googling for information on where to buy low dose Aspirin in Bangkok yielded just some recommendations for pharmacies and not much about details. I bought it today at
โอสถศาลา (Osot Sala)
Community Pharmacy
22 Phayathai Rd. (at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science)
Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330
Tel. 02 218 8428The product is Aspirin Tablets Pink, manufacturer: The British Dispensary. Available in a pack of 1,000 (325 Baht) or as many strips of 20 as you need (10 strips for 65 Baht, single strip for 7 Baht). One caveat: the expiry date for the pack I was shown was June 2015, so it's important to check for that.
The pharmacy also carries the identical Aspent-M 81 in bottles of 60 (30 Baht). Larger sizes are not available.
If buying a larger quantity you will be required to write down your name and address as there is a restriction on this particular type of product.

Went to Imperial World Lat Phrao for 90 days report today after mailing it in for several years. Arrived at 1300, needed 15 minutes to get a queue number, had 36 ahead of me. Most of the time only one of the counters that are dealing with 90 days reports for non-Burma/Laos/Cambodia citizens was open. I had to wait for two hours until my number was called. Saw several people being served without a queue number while others had several reports to hand in. Some took an extraordinarily long time and there where several periods of up to 15 minutes when no counter was processing reports at all. The place was absolutely packed with people, worse than Soi Suan Plu ever was. Don't know if it was just a bad day but I hope the mail-in service will be back soon.

Doors now opening at 8.15?
They did on August 8.

My retirement extension (800k basis) plus re-entry permit processing at Chaengwattana took just under one hour this morning, including a lengthy trip to the shop to get a copy of the just-received permission-to-stay stamp. Doors opened at 8:15. I got queue number 4 and was called at 8:20(!). After getting in the queue for the re-entry permit the number was immediately called. For the record, the extension required exactly the papers/copies as stated in Royal Thai Police Order No. 606/2549. It did seem to be less busy than last year, so I was probably just lucky.

Remark about including a copy of the "current visa" page: if you're on extension already, your visa has run out. I've had several extensions already and a new passport as well and don't include a copy of the visa. Which seems to be fine.
I once got a 10 Baht stamp for the return envelope Next time I asked for a 10 Baht stamp I was given two 5 Baht stamps which seems to be perfectly acceptable. -

Strangely enough the server location for TPB has lately always been identified as Germany by appropriate tools.

I arrived before the 8:30 opening time. Opened exactly on time. My queue number was 7. An unprecedented (for me) six desks were open for processing of extensions. The first applicant was finished after just 10 minutes and it was my turn. The lady officer seemed much more efficient than last year, going through the papers very quickly. I was sent to the superior officer's desk for the final check after mere minutes. That lady officer was not present however and two applicants were ahead of me. Waiting time was about 10 minutes. The final check took less than a minute while last year all my papers were checked thouroughly and the lady asked me several questions. A big improvement. There must have been some streamlining process during the last 12 months.
When asking for a queue number for the re-entry permit I was told to first make copies of 1) my passport data page, 2) the page with the new permission to stay and 3) the departure card. (Last year they also asked for a copy of the page with the last entry stamp.)
Despite my trip to the copy shop far away in the basement I managed to finish everything in 70 minutes - a new record for me

Use Amazon or eBay/PayPal. If you can't buy it there, forget it.

After using ICS for a few weeks: it feels generally faster (!) on my Sensation. (I did always keep as many apps as possible on the SD card.) The only thing that's noticeably slower is establishing a wifi connection - but not annoyingly slower. I had none of the problems other users have reported elsewhere. Satisfied customer

Thank you. Chaengwattana may be even more difficult.
