  1. I have a registered business and always ask for proper receipts when purchasing supplies. I can NEVER get one. They say they CAN'T do it and refuse 100%. They give a bill with the listed items and prices but it is not an official receipt and not valid for tax purposes (for me to deduct my expenses). I am sure it is illegal but they won't budge. These are shops with millions of baht of inventory and business a year. Surely they must report something. It is a big problem for me.

  2. Fantastic, thanks guys. I'm excited to take a look around. Sappersrest, that price translates into 150-300 for a square meter, yes? Just for info purposes in case anyone else is interested, if my memory serves me correctly, the per square meter price for parquet type flooring at Suksawad was 450-600 baht.

Hmm, now you have me dreaming about where I can put an ox cart.

  3. I would like to cover a 3 x 3 meter floor with some type of wood flooring. I was hoping to do something a little funky looking and had in mind some old painted/distressed floorboards or....? Or perhaps some kind of steel/aluminum sheets or tiles or...? I have looked around at Suksawad and their flooring on offer is a possibility but it is not particularly "funky" looking.

And of course I don't want to spend a fortune, indeed, far less than a fortune.

Anybody know where I might poke around?

    Thank you.

  4. Thanks, Oscar. Ya, I know I've seen them all over the place, too, but never paid much heed as I didn't need it at the time. Plus, I'm lucky enough to rarely enter Tesco, Big C, KSK, and the like so my memory as vague. I think I will go to KSK as the old school feel is softer on the eyes.

  5. Couldn't locate anything using the search function but I would think this question has already been asked...forgive me. Anyhow, I want to have a self-inking rubber stamp made for stamping my name and address on the backs-of-hands of pretty girls I meet in bars.

And perhaps on various paper documents when required. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Kad Suan Kaew?

    Thank you, Mr. Bamboozled

  6. As someone mentioned previously, there is another electronics shop across from Tannin market on the road to Mae Rim which everybody calls Chang Phuak Rd but I think is really named Chotana Rd. It's on the north side corner of the 4 way stop light basically in front of Tannin market. I see a rack of many fan blades in the window.

  7. There is a shop called Fabric House on the Sankampang road...on the left going out of town. I've never been in so cannot comment. There is also a shop along the Ping river that sells nice looking fabrics (as I ride by on my bicycle). It is on the east side of the river. I don't know the names of the bridges except for narawat so if you cross at nawarat bridge and take a left you will eventually find it on the right hand side. But you have to go about 4 or 5 km and cross under some highways before you get to it. That's not the way I arrive but explaining my route is too difficult. It is in a very new strip complex abutting the road and a massive 3 story steel sign, painted red, has been erected with the name of the shop on it. The sign could hold up an overpass it is so massive. Sorry for the poor directions. It might be worth a look or it could be a waste of time...

  8. A couple options... Just before the north-east corner on the outside of the moat is a shop on your left that sells things for outfitting a shop. You'll see various racks and such outside it. They have just what you're looking for. Actually, there are two of them on that same stretch of road. The first is much smaller. The second quite close to the corner is much larger. I'm not sure which has the better prices. Also, on the superhighway just before Macro, I believe, you will find the same type of shop. In fact, it might even be the same company as one of the two I listed previously. I'm a little foggy as to where the shop sits on the superhighway but know how to feel my way there. As stated, I think it's just before Macro....just past the gas station with the green signs. They have racks sitting out front, also, but it's easy to miss it as it has narrow frontage on the road. The shop itself is pretty big inside. They have some very sturdy shelving which I've always been keen on.

When possible I always try to go to the shop on the superhighway as I believe the prices are the best there.

  9. ...on the road behind Spicy where the old Las Vegas club is, at a rather acute diagonal across the road is a guy that does repairs. Just look for all the electronic stuff scattered about...that's the place. The "acute diagonal" is probably not totally accurate...it's sort of at the other end of that little stretch of street if Las Vegas is on your left. Or, coming from the other direction just as you come over the little canal turn right and he is there on the left. The place has been mentioned on TV before which is how I learned of it.

  10. Which JJ Market, right or left side of the street? I suppose it doesn't matter, they both seem to be slooooow going. I also always wondered why the area didn't take off.

  11. Thanks all for the replies and sorry for my late response. As it turns out, just back from Mae Sai now and had to go by bus...just couldn't spare the time for a slow jaunt. However, the mountains looked as intriguing and mysterious as ever and the future will indeed entail, at some point, a trip by moto. Folkguitar, would love to see that video...

    Cheers.

  12. Planning on motorbiking northward for requisite visa run and taking it sloooow with a night or two here or there. I've always been intrigued by the look of the mountains to the left as one approaches Mae Sai and wondering if anyone has gone up and sussed out any villages, snakes, or hooligans. I have spied at least one village nestled up among the clouds. Any reports on it? Or for that matter, what other trouble might one (two in this case) become entangled in around those parts, both in and out of the city?

    Cheers cheers....

  13. World Chemical has a bunch of materials for making casts. Latex for sure but also other materials that I couldn't name off hand as I am not familiar with the process. But they had molds on display in different colors and materials with glitter to color them as well. It's on Mahidol Rd., I believe that's the name of the road.
